Wendy's acting is spot on, however I feel that if she didn't belt this it would seem more like a lullabye.. but I find it great that they used a guy as Peter Pan.. i feel that you need to have a guy play the part so that the audience understands that Peter and Wendy do have a bit of a love connection.
This is a beautiful song! And this arrangement is genius. My only issue with this video is Wendy's propensity to belt. This is a lullaby, and thus should be sung gently. Her voice is very powerful, and belting this sweet song makes it quite jarring.
it is so werid to see this song as a duet. when i was peter, it was just me singing this song. i've actually never heard it as a duet before. lol. but this is a great verison of it! very chilling.
@lsemetko I think it's actually performed as a duet fairly often. This arrangement is new, but if you watch the Cathy Rigby version (you can get in on Netflix or Amazon), it's performed as a duet. Or you could youtube it. Either way, it's a beautiful song.
Peter Pan on stage was always meant to be played by a female, beginning with the first production that J.M. Barrie (the author) staged. Unless played by a little boy younger than 10, Peter should be played by a female. Not that this Peter isn't great. It's just that's the way it always was intended.
I know, it's the animated version. I always loved it the most and Peter was a guy. It just seems more tradistional in MY mind because that's how I always knew him when I was little, as a "him"
yeah. and it makes the little fangirl in everyone happy, haha. i love it when peter's a boy but i always have to remember that it isn't how Barrie wanted it... idk for some reason it always makes me wish peter was always a girl
Right. My grandma freaked out when dhe found out that Peter is usually played by a girl. She thought it had to do with gay and lesbian acceptence. Haha!
@leaderslove You're not wrong, but at the same time, "what was meant" or "what was intended" doesn't invalidate later productions that are interpreted differently. Personally, I appreciate the dynamic of Peter struggling to convey the story, and being supplanted by Wendy.
This is the one song in the play that I haven't gotten tired of. I'm in stage crew so I've had to hear this OVERANDOVERANDOVER again for the past however long. But the last showing is tonight. )=
wow, she sings so well! ^_^ i dunno, i think i like this song in the higher octave in the "my child, my very own, dont be afraid, your not alone" part. but she sings this version perfectly though.

I like how in this version, both Wend and Peter sing it. It makes the song very cute and emotional. ^_^
