  • make more i want you to show lightsaber moves so i can finally win

  • RVD3!

  • I watch this all the time, love it.

  • This movie is the best lightsaber fight by far

  • Tee hee. Your name is Michael Scott.

  • anyone ever noticed that RvD2 sounds a little like an astromech droid name?

  • @08betterthenyer08 holy shit, you're right!

  • The fight choreography is awesome. Well done guys!

  • I LOVE WATCHING THESE VIDEOS!

  • Great effect w/ the saber in the water and when Ryan hit the floor with the saber to make sparks fly at Scott. They didn't even do these things in the Movie(s)...Has George Lucas ever talked to you guys to come on board Lucas-Arts to do motion capture work with the lightsaber duels on the games or any games to come?

  • RVD3

  • the lightsaber flip that no one comments on, i tried doing that myself and it was kinda hard to master but i finally actually did it, haha

  • Had a great time at Comic Con San Diego's indie film panel, so thank for being there, Michael!

For the comment detractors, two thoughts. One: xkcd on youtube. Two: If you didn't watch this due to the original, non-commentary, version, then what did you expect?

  • gay stuffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • This inspires me, Look out for my videos Bro :)

  • Michael Scott... lol The office

  • the yellow lightsaber is creative. its also my favorite saber color. what gave you the idea of a yellow saber? just a random pick?

  • Despite Ryan's lighter color of clothes, he seems like a bad guy by his angry demeanor and the way he fights.

  • how did you get the lightsaber light so well

  • how did you do the wall burn effects they were simply fantistic!

  • Hey that part where that lightsaber hilt hit you in the face... ROFLMAO!!!

  • 2:04, see the melt marks on the ladder? 2:05 gone

  • @comsa42 You can see them cool down.

  • I loved it.

  • Show us how you made the lightsabers look that way and how you did the moves

  • @shadowagent100 You can find that information on the DVD, available on our website.

  • Wew, you are hard to understand @DorkmanScott

You speak your English pretty fast. ; )

Well? You said you were practising this over and over and i believe you that. Please let me tell you: You're Efforts and Benefits must NOT hide behind the Performance of the Star's which played Roles and the original Star Wars Movies ; )

You fought and moved pretty well, you Guys know your Stuff. Excellent Work.

And: You did the short, funny Parts very nice as well ; )

    Please continue some Day.

  • @DorkmanScott wats the URL for the website?

  • @DorkmanScott Make another lightsaber fight! D:

  • @shadowagent100 moves is pure movement lightsabers is all aftereffects ryan did a tutorial on his website i beleave on how it done

  • tou have to show me those moves and how you got the lightsabers to look that way with the equipment you had

  • RVD 1 and 2 are some of the most entertaining youtube videos of all time.

  • "Thanks for not suing us, George," I laughed when i saw that at the ending of the credits

  • when r u goin to make an rvd 3

  • How long did it take you guys to film RvD2?

  • @DorkmanScott I know you probably get this a lot, but do you have plans for future projects either as RVD3 or a film? If so how can people help out?

  • what program did you use to make this?

  • yeah hes right about the punches, real punches look less real on camera when compared to big budget movies which actualy fake them lol. The punch isnt supposed to send the person flying anyways, once they pointed out he was actualy punching him I noticed the guy wincing as he got hit. lol great stuff.

  • Hey great vid guys! I bet that took a while to make! I've been trying to find a program that makes a good looking lightsaber that you can edit into your own video fluently like this... what program did you use? Obviously easier and better lookin than drawing a lightsaber on every frame of a video. How did you do it!!!?

  • @2267488093 There are tutorials. Even Ryan Wieber himself made one. Basically Frame by Frame using After Effects using rotoscope

quite easy actually, but takes a long time, since its frame by frame

  • love the lightsaber flip i noticed it on the first time i saw RvD2 just didnt say anything lol i hope i can be as good as yall ryan and michael peace hope yall have more saber duels in the future peace

  • Looks great guys!!!! Also check out KIRBY LITTLE'S THE SOUTH AFRICAN on here :)

  • the special effects are so cool!

  • where is the choreogrophy footage?

  • it's on the dvd! this is just a preview of the behind the scenes dvd

  • There's this one asian guy who likes Sci Fi and he was trying to make a lightsaber and he used alot of footage from this movie. We saw it in the middle of class and I'm like, "THATS RVD2" It was awesome. I really enjoy watching this. Thank you

  • u guys are awsome and good these videos are sick

  • muito bom!!

  • Impressive, most impressive. Keep up the great work

  • You guys are real talented. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy watching your mini movies.

  • Great movie guys. Extremely well done. I wish U the best...

  • Im so sorry Michael..... If you watch The Office, I bet you get lots of junk about your name lol

  • This is one of the only lightsaber fights I've seen that really makes it seem like they're trying to kill each other the entire time. No useless lightsaber spinning. One of my favorite fights ever, nice job.

  • michael scott? from the office?

  • lol

  • how did u make the lightsbers like that

  • look it up

  • Rotoscoping.

  • DUDE UR NAME IS MICHAEL SCOTT

  • i bet george has seen this film and he thought it was pretty cool

  • it's better than anything he's ever done lol

  • If you actually watch the credits which i doubt since most people are idiots they put at the end a disclaimer and that the video is intended for entertainment use only and not infringe on anything. So there is no copy-right law being broken you idiots, ACTUALLY WATCH THE CREDITS AND YOU WOULD KNOW! they are not morons like other people.

  • And you, sir, are more the moron. A disclaimer in the credits has no legal bearing at all. If I were to upload A New Hope and add to the credits "This is a tribute to a movie I love" GL would still have it taken down. What makes this legal is that Star Wars cannot demonstrate they originated the lightsaber and all of the work is original.

  • Shutup about the copyright on the saber ppl! They havent been sued so shutup.. case closed

  • Other than Lightsaber™ there is another thing... the Force™, Force is also a concept in Star Wars and it is the Key point of the Jedi Knight™ and the Sith Lords..haha

  • Wow, so Lucas could really trademark the idea of a sword made of light? They never actually mention or show the word "lightsaber" in the video, so it'd have to be the concept of a sword made of light which Lucas could sue for, if anything, I'd imagine.

  • I noticed a little thanks in the credits to George Lucas for not suing them. Could Lucas really have sued them? What for?

  • For using his universe. The fact is George is really good about letting budding filmmakers learn the trade through making fan films based in the Star Wars universe. The line that they must not cross, however, is if they seek to profit from the film. The RvD team offer the film for free but sell the making of materials and soundtrack to make back some dosh.

They have shown great talent with the RvD films and now need to show what they can do with fully original material.

  • Ok, so you take swords made of light, and telekinetic abilities separately, and it's no big deal. But I guess the idea is that if you put them together, they clearly do borrow from Lucas, and he could sue for that. Makes enough sense, and that is cool of Lucas not to sue or charge for use of his ideas like this.

  • @ArkadiosTheodulus

It's only an issue if someone is using someone else's material, idea, or concept to (1) make money or (2) gain publicity.

As far as I know, these guys haven't made money from this. They may have, but I don't think they have.

And they have gained publicity from it, but not to the extent where a lawsuit would be necessary.

  • I think Ryan got a job in LucasArts.

  • They definitely have shown some real talent in these films, but have they announced any plans to make anything else? It would be great to see them do something original, but I'd also love to see an epic finale Ryan v Dorkman v Brandon. A three-way duel would be awesome, and one could use a dual blade. More special effects could be implemented in the scenery and background.

  • well, actually we all saw something else from them... till lucas liked them so much that made them part of the coregraphic staff in SW2 and 3 ^^;:

  • i really hope you guys come out with another vid...very good maybe you could throw in a thirded dude Green lightsaber lol...but good shit over all love the vids

  • <3 the editing <3

  • Not doing fist fight was good for comedy.

  • running away for ls was more funny cuz i expected them to fist fight

  • Brilliant film. You guys did a great job!

  • another movies please:) You guys hax:)

  • wow!!!! *5 stars*

  • how the hell did ya doo that

  • they are pro editors. and people think the stuff is all fake but as they said it isnt...every1 is a critic.

  • how pretentious

  • Create an original story, that would be fantastic.(AKA SUGGESTION)

  • agreed, i love the lightsaber fight but after like 4 minutes ive seen all i need to see, story would be sheer coolness

  • Great job on the FX and fighting, but maybe next time if you guys film another thing like this you should kinda dress up or something.......

  • what did u use for your visual FX?

  • adobe after effects cs3

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk lloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolll

  • PLZ MAKE RVD3

  • @darkgod1000 ummmm if you were watching, the R in RVD got killed :P

  • @darkgod1000RVD2 was better then the first one so RVD3 if ever made would have to be even better they can just do such great work.

  • incredible..........

  • when you guys gunna make rvd3?

  • dit is gay stuf XD :)

  • @mikevdwolf you watch gay stuff then :D

  • @mikevdwolf You cant even spell, gtfo.

  • @mikevdwolf don't watch it then

  • that is exactly what i been thinking kakashilovir

  • at 6;14 the cut light saber kind if looks like a cigarrete lighter from a car.

  • I love how in the most interesting parts you don't talk even a slight bit about the visual effects. ;-)

  • PeGeProd, that's because we have a whole hour of us talking about the VFX on a different feature of our DVD. ;) You can see a preview of it on YouTube as well, look for the user DorkmanScott.

  • I wish I had a whole team of people to help me make movies! AMAZING!

  • that is so gud u should go into a fighting movie or somthing

  • So what kind of effects did you guys use for the wall scene?

  • Do you use like plastic lightsabers but then add in effects?

  • what happened to the lightsaber hole in the ground when ryan stabs dorkman in the arm

  • u guys r awusome!!

  • are you guys really hitting hard with the lightsabers?

  • no there doing it gentle tjhey just make it look really hard

  • 13. Your =/= you're

  • you guys rock

    but

    why are you fighting

  • do you have a tutorial for when his arm got sliced off? i have adobe after effects, so if you haven't made a tutorial can you please?

  • they used a green screen on his arm i think. i've seen my cousin do this before with it

  • hi dudes how have you guys done that? can you please tell me? please

  • there are sticks so when they do go and digitally add the laser beam effect they will know where to add the beam way easier, it also makes it easier for a far more realistic choreographed fighting because you actually have something to fight with instead of just air.

  • 4.23 best scene ^^

  • dude that was bether than star wars 4,5,and 6

  • have you guys thought about making "Dorkman RED"

  • Good commentary, thanks for putting this up.

  • I dunno You guys, but I hope u won't mind if i'll call you by names... eh... Ryan, Michel and other guys, why won't U do a casting!

If U'll do a Fan-Film, Either Prequel (it would be Better I think) or sequel it WILL be movie of the YEAR! Yeah! It's like WoW!!! Guys! See it for yourself! The lightsaber duel with tht Dual handed blue and single green sabers was Awsome! Terrific! Splendid, Great! Men...... If U WON't do a flm many Fans of teh Star Wars WILL be dissapointed. ;)

    Take care guys!

  • are there steel rods coming out of the handle? what do u use?

  • where the hell did they those light saber and why is it blue (good) vs. green(good) but that was the best star wars vid ive seen.

  • its yellow...

  • couple things:

    1. its yellow, not green

    2. red lightsabers are the only ones that are good or evil

    3. there are sith with blue lightsabers and jedi with doublebladed ones

bu yeah, these guys are amazing!

  • question...how did you make it look like he got his arm chopped off.and cut in half...it looks pretty real

  • WOW that is a very nice movie!!!

so fantastic with the light sabers!

i really wanna now how to do a movie like that, so good guys 10/10

  • that was a very well planned movie, glad you pulled it off, I was really impress! the special effects you guys thought about using like the stedicam and lighting were really great ideas, have you guys thought about using depth of field on the camera like the Redrock, it makes shots even more cinemalike?

  • Comment removed

  • at :42 he drops his lightsaber

  • lol that was funny when he got hit by the light saber i was lmao

  • I notice the flip, I always notice the flip!!!

  • wow that is amazing, i love the theme, i love the special effects, and i LOVE the plot

  • still failed to explain how his shoulder joint survived a lightsaber burning through it at temps that can melt steel.

  • Not really. A LOT of people, myself included, wanted to hear what they thought. Easiest way to do that is via commentary.

  • ya i totally agree they created it and i bet they have a lot to say about it and it's interesting to know what they think about it and all

  • Oh sorry i guess not. How did you guys pull the light saber towards.

  • Hey you guys i love your videos, but if i may point out a problem. At 03:25 a light saber would not stay open it would close when someone or something is not putting pressure on it. Maybe i am wrong. Who knows. Cya later, again love your videos keep up the good work!

  • where the fuck is part two? lol it's not on youtube

  • of course it is

    watch?v=-is63goeBgc

  • no i meant the part 2 of the commentary. it used to be up and it isnt anymore

  • Part 2 of the commentary has never been on YouTube, and isn't going to be. If you are interested in hearing it, you can get it on the behind the scenes DVD, available on our website.

  • ahhhh crafty crafty...

    lol

  • Wow, this is even more pro then sevral original star wars movies. Great job doing this. Love it. I liked the sevral creative moves such as knocking the arm down causing the tilt to hit the head. I also loved the part with the wall and that's probably the part i'm most amazed about. Also some creativity in the movement there such as turning it off to get it out of the wall. Rating this 5/5 and i wish to see more stuff like this.

  • How long did it take you to make this?

  • I swear if you guys had the funds and time you could so make a 20-30 min Fan Film.

But always im impressed with you guys.

  • did u guys make those lightsaber hilts yourself and if u did did you use pvc?

  • u guys are so good at this stuff especially the fighting im making my own vid but it is a dirt fist fight. actually ive made it on camera and i really got hurt. wont be postin until a bit later

  • How did you learn how to pull off all the special effects/choreography and stuff? It was very proffesional looking. Me and a few friends are hoping to try making something like this during the summer, but we're not quite sure how to do the special effects aside from lightsaber blades on After Effects. The sparks on the floor/cuts in the wall especially looked good.

  • It's not egoistical if he can make a better sequence than the ones in the movie..

  • wtf? Why?

  • No one is forcing you to watch it, you know.

  • That wasn't the point I was making. I enjoyed what you did, it is absolutely brilliant. I just think it is a little rich and vain making commentary /dvd to it.

That was all. Again, I really enjoyed what you have done with the actual scene.,

Saying "you don't have to watch it" is always a lame retort and is never the point. ;)

  • I think YOU missed the point.

We're selling a DVD and we wanted to add content, and hence value, to the DVD. It isn't vain to want to give people their money's worth, and considering the volume of e-mail I get asking questions, I don't think it's vain to assume that people want to know our thoughts and our process.

If they aren't interested, as I said, no one will make them watch it. And once again, no one is making you do so, either.

  • The DVD is extra content talking about how we went about making the short, and is not available online other than this preview of one of the commentaries. We have sold several hundred, which has helped us recoup our costs -- and I imagine that many of them purchased it specifically to help us with that.

Please go find another video to troll, and insult someone else's fans.

  • just wondering does the dvd come with tutorials or just you guys talking about how you made it?

  • Not tutorials per se, but we have an hour-long VFX Breakdown feature where we explain our effects in great detail. In fact, you can look at DorkmanScott's profile to find a sneak preview of that.

  • @DLPBurke look, we all asked for what they thought on their production, they did this for us so just shut the hell up and leave them be!!

  • how do u guys get rid of the bang noises from the lightsabers hitting each other

  • turning the volume down from the clip. ITS NOT THAT HARD

  • f-ing awesome

  • You guys should do new starwars movie.

Anything's better than watching clown wars.

  • this is awesome, and makes me dream big

  • guys what did you use for a camera? FX1? Vx?

  • Panasonic AG-HVX200
