@jdriscoll2000 You mean her "friend" Nancy? I definitely agree. She says "I didn't think it was right 'cause you *were* my friend" and Jill is like, uh "You ARE my friend", followed by a depressing "Yeah, I guess so". I also hate the very end of the call, "Yeah, bye", in a sarcastic tone. Who needs a friend like that?!
@TheKittiesKilll Hm. I don't mean any offense but I'm surprised you didn't already know what's in the description. If you don't mind my asking, what part was spoiled for you?
@musicfan12647 Why would that surprise you? I had an idea as to what would happen having seen the remake but I never saw the original version of this film so I thought I'd read the description.
But for someone who hasn't seen either films, I'd get rid of how the call is found to be coming from inside, the kids getting killed, etc. You sort of give away the entire beginning.
@1875HIBEESFC That's just her natural voice. The irony is that it's refreshing to hear her real voice during a serious role. She's so often typecast as fairies, airheads, etc., which call for her to use the same lame idiotic dumbbell voice.
3. Who lets some teenager they've never met before babysit their kids? I mean seriously.
4. After the 2nd call asking about the kids, I'd be turning on every light and waking THEM up to keep ME company, inviting friends over and dialing 911!
5. Why does she take such a wimpy cane out of that bunch? The one right next to it looks like it could put a dent in a polar bear.
Didn't realize the dramatic violin was the same music bit sometimes used at the beginning of films where it will show "recorded in high something dolby sound."
@secondchapter You're referring to the THX sound. What's interesting is that what you're hearing ISN'T the THX sound; it's just extremely uncanny in how similar it sounds to the real thing. This film was released in '79 but the THX sound wasn't created until around '82.
One of the most suspensful scenes in horror movie history!
This film is 1000 times better than the remake. The only thing that hurt this film is that because of the unbelievable suspense, in the 1st 20 minutes, the film had nowhere to go but down.
I still love this film, but I think this scene should've been towards the end, and the middle of it at the beginning

First act is super freaky, but the rest of the film is not so good. Still, much better than the remake!

Is Carol Kane deaf, because she speaks kind of strange ( no offence).
