Well, I for one quite like what you did with the instrument, and your vocals. This is how music gets better - because people experiment. Of course, you'll never please everyone, but I don't think that's going to stop you, nor should it. Keep up the good work.
@galletitamortal well, people also told me, that that one is a guitar lute and that the tuning is right... in fact i don't care, i don't know what i'm doing as i also pointed out below :-)
@KidcatLofi I was trying to say that there's beautifull pieces for lute from barroque/renacentist/medieval years. And you can do more beautifull things, make it sound like it should. It's hard to explain.

But basically it is a guitar! This is know as a Wandervogel lute, made popular at the end of the 19th century in Germany. It is tuned like a guitar and does not have double strings like a lute. Why shouldn't she use any instrument any way she wants? Most lutenists would probably consider it more of a shame to play lute music on such an instrument rather than on a historical reconstruction. Anyway, the song works nicely IMHO.
I liked your song and singing. The instrument you are playing is a Guitar lute - developed early 1900’s in an effort to re-create the “romantic past”. These days they are often called "Wandervogellaute" because of their supposed origin in the German Musical Youth Movement. It is tuned e b g d a e like a guitar and was mostly used for singing to. So your natural instinct with this instrument is right! You and your lovely guitar-lute are both doing what you both do best! Don’t ever stop!
you kind of sound like one of the girls from tegan and sara, I've got a question if you don't mind; is playing the lute in its standard tuning (if it has one) the same as playing a six string guitar? and what about playing one of those lutes with more than 6 strings? and if you were to read lute tabs would be be able to play off those tabs with a guitar?
@imafreemanfornow well i tuned that one just like a guitar. that's all that i can say... i'm not the right person to answer all your questions, most of the time i have no idea what I'm doing with my instruments ;-)
Not a lute. A 19th c. German lute-shaped guitar, built for a young men's group that was sort of a mix between the Boy Scouts and the Hitlerjugend. Real lutes are much older (12th century to middle 18th) and the oldest original soundboard is I believe from the late 16th c. Most original instruments are in museums, and most present-day lutenists use historically-informed reconstructions. Lutes are of light, thin construction and feature gut strings and gut frets.
I've been told that mine was made around 1900, Ofcourse I dont know if its true but it sound logical. I mean, you cant play a 500 year old instrument i guess
@BambridgeBardsDavid well that's old enough i guess. i only know that that one was bought by my father about 30 years ago at an auction- but then he only knew that that think was "old" and quite cheap.
@KidcatLofi Look I didnt mean to bash your lute, it's a mighty fine instrument and I love to play on it. but when i read ' freaking old' in the discription I thought maybe someone told you its 300 or 500 years old, but 1900 is old enough indeed :)
@BambridgeBardsDavid well depends on your definition of "old"... how old is yours? because i really don't know how old that one could be, I would like to know ;-)
I just discovered this wonderful song of yours...what a gem! I love it! Such great lyrics. If you are not proud of this song, then you are crazy! And I know you're not crazy! Bravo!
Very nice, I love your style and the words...and the playing as well. I kinda would like to hear it played on classical banjo...perhaps I will try. Be well!
laute hat nen viel schöneren klang als gitarre...nicht so proletisch aufdringlich^^. schön mal ein vid zu sehen wo jemand nichtretro so n instrument spielt...
I had no idea you played the lute as well! Lovely vocals as usual and nice original! I had to laugh at "feed all the models" coz I think they wouldn't want to be fed... :-)
Nice guitar-lute. "Feed the models" haha. Creative lyric. I can't let my animals "free" (out of the house) though, cuz I rescued a few homeless cats. (I have a video of one.) If I let them them "free" Nature or people will harm or kill them. War will never end as long as two beings or countries want the same things. Also, people say they want honesty, but they really don't; they hate honest people. You have it right in the last line. Anyway, your lyrics got me thinking,so they're great.
@FrankGrigonis That's why the song is called fantasy- it's just not possible to realise all these wishes. It's just a fantasy.
Well the problem with honesty is, that some people think that honesty and cruelty is the same. I know people, who say realy cruel and hurtful things and then they excuse themselves by saying "but i'm just being honest"- i think it is possible to be honest and not constantly hurting other peoples feelings.
Wow you are so talented! I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers...anyway I want to learn how to play a lute but currently I only know how to play the mandolin and the uke. Maybe one day..
@alex103092 i play it like a guitar- isn't that hard. but i think there are other types of lutes that have more strings and are played differently, i guess.
