  • Removing an inviable fetus is not the same as an abortion of a perfectly viable fetus for personal reasons. And these inviable fetus abortions constitute less than 0.5 % of all abortions. Combined with rape and incest, the total still does not Esau even 1%. The remaining are all for "personal reasons" like money, childbirth, pride, shame, etc. All of which are incredibly selfish when you consider that this is a preventable consequence of an action.

  • There are definitely medical reasons to have abortions. When I found out i was pregnant my doctors told me for health reasons I should probably terminate the pregnancy. I didn't. I ended up loosing my entire blood volume from complications. I had a pulmonary embolism and a dvt. I ended up in the ICU and the hospital staff didn't think I was going to make it. They had to pump fluid out of my lungs. I'm to this day glad I had my son. He's super healthy, smart and a good boy.

  • That said I believe a woman should have a right to choose. People don't just get pregnant from stupidity or whoring. There's contraception failure and rape. My aunt got pregnant twice on birthcontrol that I know of. She was on depo. We cannot set one standard and expect everyone to fit into that box. I have a bleeding disorder now no one can figure out and a hormonal disorder. Neither of which was present before I had my son. Let people choose its their life. Their good or bad not yours.

  • I have a baby boy names Jordyn due this christmas and they say he has anencephaly. I didn't terminate, i was given that option at 4 months, i just couldn't. I love him.

  • All these babies that are on Youtube who have anencephaly have a head. I've never heard of a developed fetus without at head. A non viable pregnancy would naturally terminate."Barbaric" defined: Savagely cruel; exceedingly brutal, primative. This would not define the mom of this baby nor the other parents on this youtube who had their child with the same dissorder, and loved the child for as long as the child lived.

  • @tarafulis Anacephaly is where part of the brain is missing. Hydrocephaly & Trisomy is where you have issues with the size of the head & sometimes parts of the head missing.

  • I wonder, did you have a procedure? You say THEY.. what is they? wow are you ever hard on the imperfect. I wonder if you're involved in eugenics?

  • @tarafulis If by "imperfect" you mean fetuses that don't have a HEAD?? Then yes, I think forcing women to continue with a completely non-viable pregnancy is totally barbaric. How quickly pro-lifers throw around the term "eugenics"--similar to their obsession with calling people Nazis. Please dump your black-and-white thinking; you just sound crazed.

  • I wonder, did you have a procedure?

  • To go on Youtube and talk about something you don't know about those who are Pro Life is putting yourself out there to look poorly informed. Try again.

  • @tarafulis

No, I work in the medical field dealing with this issue every day. One button-click would've informed you of that. Guess who's poorly informed...

  • So just today the doctor called to tell us our 13 week old pregnancy might be a acenephalic fetus and a year from now in 4 more day he also told us of an ectopic pregnancy well its all sad. We've been trying so hard but in the end it all comes down to a medical abortion I always saw abortion as a very bad thing until all of this happened and lifes were threatened, if nothing was done. People should understand that sometimes its the best thing to do for good reasons and that is only medical ones.

  • Thanx for posting this vid. I lost my baby boy Marcus due to Aencenpaly,at 14 weeks we had our scan and were told he would not survive and i never thought for one minute that i would lose my baby but we had no choice this time he would never haved survived if he had been born full term. A medical termanation is so different from chooseing to have an abortion, My baby was loved and we wanted him so badly but there are people who think we did the wrong thing but i no we did right.

    Thanx xx

  • Ok Yes Medical reason's only! But most of abortions are done because of inconvenience , which is tragic! I'm sorry but there should be restrictions on abortions and should be reserved for SEVERE cases! Besides that it's MURDER!

  • "It will rupture (the fallopian tube) and eventually kill the mother"

Some anti-abortion people believe that we should just let the mother die. That it is God's will if that happens. I don't think many pro choice people realise how fucked up pro lifers are.

But i do agree with what you said about late term abortion. If the baby is underdeveloped the woman has the right to an abortion.

  • I believe that outlawing abortion would be bad (even though I don't agree with the practice in principle.) 2 points however:

    1. I shouldn't have to pay for your abortion (ie - no public funds.)

    2. Hospitals, doctors and nurses shouldn't be forced to perform the procedure.

If the issue is personal choice - keep it personal and a choice.

  • 1. I find this a hilarious point of contention, given that you're definitely paying for people's welfare babies.

    2. Random doctors don't perform them; abortion doctors do. Then it's part of the job, and if someone doesn't like it they shouldn't be going into the field, duh. Same with pharmacists.

  • Anencephalic babies are born without a FOREBRAIN, not absent of an entire brain. Many are born alive. Some survive for days. I'm just saying...

  • I agree with your opinion completely. Though, I think abortion should not even be restricted to medical reasons. The only thing we really own outright in this world is our body. And once people start telling us what we can and can't do with it what rights will remain for much longer?

  • Thanks for this video. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can talk about abortion in a mature, non-dogmatic way.

  • Thank you. As you can see, I still get a lot of crap about it. Some people are so obsessed with punishing the "harlots" that they forget (or don't know) about all the other people who are potentially getting hurt by their snap judgments they would have made law. Want to reduce abortions? Support birth control and real sex education. I work with cases that are these medical exceptions EVERY DAY. Even if they're the "minority" that is a LOT of people.

  • I don't even know why this is a debate in American society, probably because the majority of Americans are deluded Christians who confuse morals with the 'teachings' of fictitious 2000 year old book.

My opinion is that it's the mothers choice. If she wants to destroy her unborn child then let her.

  • Oh lordy!

    It's NOT a balloon!

    It's a rat-propelled transparent sac!

  • Hey watch out for that balloon behind you!!

  • It is NOT HUMANE to abort disabled fetuses, and it is not liberal-minded, either, because it amounts to discrimination against the handicapped. You use the example of anacephaly

and Edwards Syndrome to justify late term abortion in that case, but you would support a woman terminating a viable fetus with down syndrome, autism, or deafness, not fatal disorders. As to Edwards syndrome and anacephaly, they do NOT have organs outside their bodies and they do NOT suffer pain until death.

  • They DON'T? Might wanna check your info again. What's up with people extrapolating all sorts of crap from my video? I just said there are some reasons for late-term abortion, and people act like it's my idea to abort all fetuses everywhere. You're only proving yourselves to be obsessed nutjobs.

  • "Medical Reasons" is a bogus topic. Regardless of weather abortion is legal or not, doctors have "always" made decisions pertaining 2 the life of "all" their patients.Doctors take an oath 2 preserve life, not 2 take life. But please tell me any time period were doctors in general, did "not" base their decision on preserving the life of both mother & child, or in worse case scenarios have 2 choose 1 over the other. This has nothing 2 do w/abortion, but rather shows how hypocritical they are.

  • you make an argument for MEDICAL abortions being legal. That has nothing to do with ELECTIVE abortions being illegal. Even the most hardcore prolife people out there dont advocate keeping a pregnancy if it's going to place the mother at substantial risk of death or serious bodily harm. Way to confuse the issue.

  • Try listening. I wasn't even addressing the issue of the mother's life being in danger--I said BESIDES that. And yes, the hardcore pro-lifers would not allow the doctor to make the judgment--they would have the law make the judgment regardless of circumstance and have not put forth any exceptions besides ones where the mother's life is in danger.

  • i did listen, however i feel your 'reasons' just serve to confuse the issue. As others have pointed out a tiny, tiny minority of abortions are done for medical reasons. the 'abortion debate' essentially centers around elective abortion. The reason why there is need for enhanced legislation on the matter is because the current law has loopholes large enough to drive a semi through it. A late term abortion may be preformed when a mothers physical or MENTAL health is at 'risk'. how does one (cntd)

  • mental health? you cant. that means quite LITERALLY a woman could be in labor with a full term, healthy pregnancy and if she found a doc willing to certify her mental health would be in risk if she 'continued' the pregnancy then she can have an abortion. this isnt just a matter of an absurd hypothetical. the doctor who first advocated intact d&e is a perfect example. the distraught parents of a teen who hid her pregnancy brought her to his clinic for an abortion via the mental health loophole

  • her pregnancy was essentially full term and healthy. He botched the digitoxin abortion that was preformed and live birth resulted. intact d&e wasnt about hydrochephalic pregnancies it was about destruction of the potential offspring.

sure 'hardcore' pro lifers might have unreasonable demands. so do hard core pro choicers. the need is to come up with a sensible way of handling the issue. that is something the current law doesnt provide for.

  • None of the proposed anti-abortion laws are any help, either. Exceptions like rape are not adequate. Outlawing late-term abortions isn't a solution . I still don't see why it matters that a small minority of abortions are done for medical purposes. That is no reason to outlaw something with no exceptions. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE THE EXCEPTION? There are plenty of them (I see them every day at work) and they shouldn't be punished just because a bunch of other people are idiots.

  • Christians lead the nation in teen pregnancy too. They are more apt to be pregnant than Muslims, Jews, and Atheists. I haven't seen any data to support this, but I wouldn't see it too unlikely that Christians also lead the nation in abortions.

  • Figures say that most teen pregnancies end in abortion, and if most of those teens getting pregnant are Christian, then that seems like a pretty accurate assessment.

  • Canaanav- Christian women are more likely to be pregnant than Muslim women...Have you seen Muslim women?

  • @ellaelizabeth

Zing! I chuckle when I see those woman wear those burqas. People must fight for their own rights. Liberty is taken, not granted.

    Good one!

  • Less than 4% of all abortions have anything to do with either the health of the mother or the health of the baby. More than 94% of all abortions are purely elective; meaning there are no external circumstances which would justify an abortion.

  • So what if it's only 4%? You still can't outlaw ALL abortion. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, if you'll excuse the inappropriate expression. I bet less than 4% of bomb threats are real bombs, so...what, do we just STOP RESPONDING to bomb threat?

  • actually an abortion is performed usually before the start of the second trimester, an unborn fetus doesnt feel pain until 22 weeks gestational

  • who do you know that had an anencephaly baby ... you keep mentioning it? you must know or have seen it?

  • My job. We get abortuses all the time. Half of all miscarriages have a genetic problem we can find (many others have genetic problems that my lab's kind of testing can't detect).

  • is there like a mouse in a ball running around in your kitchen....

    cool

  • Ok so the world has been around for thousands of years right? At 44 seconds you said that it will live only for a few seconds. Our life based on the life of the earth has been/ or is only a second. Why don't we just kill you? At 50 you said it will be in pain. Abortion causes IMMENSE pain. The fetus/baby feels when you abort it.

  • We need to keep abortion legal because of these reasons. There are people who are out to seek absolute bans on abortions for ABSOLUTELY EVERY reason. I'm the opposite, I am out to keep abortions legal for any reason, because it just doesn't make sense to me in banning abortions except for a few cases. I also belief that it is the mother's choice to get pregnant and to be pregnant the way she wants. She should not have any part of her pregnancy be controlled by the government.

  • What`s your point here..i.e. would you e.g. support a change in the law that only allowed abortion for health reasons and rape/incest? Most abortions are NOT for medical reasons or rape/incest and threats to the mothers life...they are SOLELY about "convenience"..
