Everyhing today is derivative. Just googled "la roux". First thing that came up was a rip off of that DOA riff (spin me round). It's not just borrowing a particular style, either. I turn on the radio, I can tell in just a few seconds not only which artist is being ripped off, but which song in particular.
I remember yazoo singing this years ago on the top of the pops like it was yesterday, but I don't know about guys but music of yesterday era of 80s and 70s won't ever be repeated or get to the same fantastic standard as it was then. It really saddens me that musicians of today really only last 5, 8 years at the most where you have likes of alison moyet and Tina turner, whittney houston who stay to the same standard of sound and quality as they came out as it was last week. I suppose its my age
Yeh, you're right. I love this kind of music, I'm 46, I never went to any gigs when I was younger. So I'm so much looking forward to seeing La Roux live next week!
Sorry, kids....Mummy and Daddy are talking! SHUUSH! EXCELLENT evolution of the music. This MUSIC really meant alot "back then!"

Yazoo should consider a release or doing something new in the same classic sound way.
Vince the big keyboard wiz and moyet the vocal babe... it works even today.. :D

Erasure are bloody crap compared to Yazoo with the annoying squash-faced Andy Bell as lead singer.

It got to No.2, kept off the top by PHD in 1982. The Flying Pickets went to No.1 with it in '83.

Why did Vince Clarke than have to go and spoil it all by going on to form the far inferior Erasure? Yazoo were a much better band by far.

Totally agree. More pop, less depth.

And then the rest was history.
A genius alongside THE voice.
Yazoo are back. 25 years later.
Like a good wine.
