I believe the original track was produced by Steely & Clevie, so I agree, Clevie was probably the one responsible for the bassline.
I think this was one of the songs based on their hit, "Telephone Love", and they had a bunch of Reggae artists do different songs based on the same riff/track.
Think I have the cassette of the compilation around here somewhere...
@siouxzie29 thats not Danny Brownie, its - Steely on the Yamaha cs101....Danny is also a superb bassman and created a lot of classic basslines himself ....but Steely is way too under-rated as a synth bassist . A lot of the basslines from the 80s was Steely on the synth. I have the free VST instrument and man u get the same tone from it if u hook it up to a tube amp with a little distortion or just a plain amp....incredible
nice cover bro

Danny Browne on (probably synth) bass - he's a multi-instrumentalist - check him on AMG.
"Rumours" is originally from "Red Rose for Gregory" produced by Gussie Clarke in 1988.
I found your videos while searching for Family Man.
Nuff niceness!

Thanks - AMG has Clevie on this album as well - both are superb bassmen!
