  • Love to put a little Kubota diesel in my Ranger.

  • very nice setup... would you guys be willing to sell a kit to help the do-it-your-selfers install these in our TJ's??

  • awesome! Iwould love a diesel in my jeep...Imay look into this

  • how much would a complete conversion like yours cost.?? and how much hp/ torque does ti have?

  • plz do this to my TJ :)

  • I want one in my YJ so bad : /

  • OH YEAH CUMMINS YEAH VRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM IM SO AWESOME CAZ I CAN MAKE TRUCK SOUNDS EVERY ONE GROW UP!!!!!!!!!

  • @alford1993 Actually, typically, the idea behind swapping in a diesel motor is for fuel economy and additional power. Dumbass.

  • Believe it or not Chrysler is looking into offering a CRD JK in North America.

  • what kind of mileage are you getting with that set up?

  • I am soooo jealous

  • What suspension work did you have to do to make that a decent ride height? how was the fit?

  • awesome, gave me a new item on the list for my jeep lol

  • was it a very tight fit?

  • pretty goddamn nice.....but you already know that lol

  • somones got money!

  • Very well done and clean install. Nice Work

  • is it as fast as a 5.9 turbo in a 2500 truck and could you chip these..whats the cost range

  • @explorer4990 it has the potential to be...and no it's mechanical injection. no electronics

  • where can u find a these engines i would like to know

  • @cd51segolt Just about anywhere. Heck, they're even on ebay.

  • had 3 tj's then moved to an offroad xterra. but would go back to jeep in a heart beat if the new jk had a cummings. great job guys

  • sub me back!

  • Wicked! Nice work Overland!

  • How noisy is it inside the jeep while driving?

  • that is one clean jeep i have future plans of a 4bt in my 98

  • @greenbull56 me too, have the 4bt in the garage on a motor stand atm =)

  • does it vibrate while at idle or at 60MPH? and was total cost?

  • is this still for sale?

  • Where do you get the engine from I want to do a cummins swap?

  • @juliannator13 delivery trucks, bread trucks, only place ive ever heard of it, do some online research, people sell these trucks online, or if you have delivery/bread places near you, maybe ask them

  • does it have a turbo? or was that just vacuum backpressure

  • @nxmoparmatt84

    4 b t means 4 cyl b series t means turbo

  • sick, I want to do this to mine but it seems expensive?

  • what did you do for the gauges, and how do you keep the check engine light off so it will pass inspection?

  • Hey guys great job. It looks like factory build.

  • time to get rid of that vacuum booster

  • @bigpox900 what does that do?

  • would there be enough room in my cherokee to install one of these?

  • Thats a super clean installation. The exhaust is a super joke but the engine bay looks real clean :) Put some 4 inch comming right out the passengers front fender ;)

  • how does the oil pan clearance look at that hight? and did you need to cut the drive tunnel and raise for the install? clean swap..

  • OlllllO i like it

  • Nice conversion. Real neat and clean.Looks factory....but doesn't sound like it!

  • thats just the sound diesels make

  • my main concern is making the little jeeps to nose heavy... i would be curious to see what kind of front/rear bias numbers this thing would spit out

  • i had wanted to do this for a while, but realized they are just to heavy for a cj/yj/tj, and have another diesel planned for that (super secret, lol) but still am considering a 4bt in my j10

  • I want to make the swap in my sahara '98, but i need to know what trany, t-case, diffs did you install and where you buy them thanks Rudy

  • most people use jeep or chevy trannies.

  • beautiful

  • I love these conversions! If you know what you're doing you can get great gas milage (30+mpg) and if you wanted to hot rod one of these you can get over 300hp and close to 800 foot pounds of torque. not to mention the fact that you can run them on WVO, bio-diesel, or even automatic transmission fluid, but you really need to know what those guys are putting in those dump tanks. and the noise is amazing!

  • automatic transmission fluid?as a substitute for diesel? where did you get that info?

  • Yep, just gotta clean it REALLY ridiculously well. Don't want metal shavings in your truck. lol I've heard of people doing that with used motor oil also.

I know a guy who mixed up all sorts of old junk paints off his shelf and ran it through his MBZ Diesel. What an idiot, but it ran! Haha...

  • you can run atf in place of diesel. its actually better in my opinion. a friend of mine had an old mercedes diesel, and a friend who worked at a transmission shop, he would stop in about every two weeks and fill his fuel tank with used atf, owned the car about a year and someone walked in the parts store where he worked, asked who owned it, and then offered him 2500 for it on the spot, which was 4 times what he paid for it. title was in the car, he sold it right there and got a ride home.

  • also, i know another gentleman who has a 98 chevy 3500 with a 6.5, with 400k on it, its run atf since new, and still has the original injector pump! these engines on regular diesel cant seem to make an I.P. last more that 200k

  • Is it hard to start in winter?

  • not at all. only had one problem once, at -37°C, but who wouldn't.

    -Scotty

  • @fitty650sx what lift/ tires?

  • Thats what I want to put in my 98 Tj soo bad! nice rig

  • as cool as it looks, i'd find a smaller engine... WAY too big

  • Any ideas?

  • as much as I hate Toyota, Toyota. Other than that, it's just way too much engine.

  • It's about the same size as a chevy small block! If I remember right, it is a little shorter and narrower, but a little taller. About the same weight also. This is my memory from when I was making sure I could fit one into my CJ5 Jeep... (haven't found an engine yet.. :(

  • I can't remember the last time I've seen an 800# + chevy small block

  • From what the tubes just told me, the 4BT "wet" (oil, pumps, turbo etc) weighs about 700-750#, the same as a bare (Dry) Chevy Big-block, or a couple hundred more than a bare CSB. If you have a super-light rig, then run the suzuki or a lawnmower engine for that matter! If you have a normal weight vehicle, and you want it to have the power to drive over the mountains at the speed limit, a couple hundred pounds really isn't that much for all the extra power this thing will put out! -At Idle... ;)

  • would this fit in a toyota tacoma and work well.

  • Awesome work! Where abouts in Canada are you?

  • Southern Ontario

  • To the dorks that are commenting that the stock 4.0L has more hp, you are idiots. This engine is far superior for rock crawling to the 4.0L because of it's high torque at extremely low RPMs, not only that, but his rig probably gets about 30MPG.

  • Torique can be multiplied so even a high reving low torque engine can be used to rock crawl (just look at the spidertrax guys who use 1.6l suzuki engines and 6:1transfer cases). This engine may actually be worse because it weighs 750lbs whereas a 4.0 weighs about 500lbs.

  • Is that a brand new engine? Because 15 grand is a lot of money...

  • factory cummins recon with 30,000 on it since the conversion.

  • dang thats smaller then the stock inline 6

  • This Jeep is for sale.

  • How much?

  • $15,000 safety/etest'd

  • is that engine better than the jeep 4.0?

  • Fuck yeah...more hp, torque and way better fuel economy

  • the cummins 3.9 puts out 68 horses

  • how about 105-130 depending on the CPL number?

  • @JBambooProductions Maybe the first ones did but the most recent 4bt's make 130hp. It's a great motor to swap in Jeeps.

  • its spelled liter. And a tractor cummins engine turns a jeep into a whole new crawling hauling machine. And yes improved gas mileage. If you are serious about off roading then this engine would be brilliant. So much torque. The 4.0 is good, but a cummins has serious advantages

  • nastyyyyyyyyyyyyyy were do i get one at

  • i was wonder if its possible to drop a 4bt into a XJ can it be done?

  • I want to drop a duramax in my jeep!!!

  • so bad ass, i wanna do this now! haah

  • What kid of fuel mileage does your setup get on the street? What tranny are you running? I wnat to do this to my TJ as well.

  • 21-25mpg consistantly. I'm using the NV4500. You're looking at about a $10,000CDN swap.

  • how you doin man?? is this your jeep in the vid??

  • might be

  • how did you bypass the OBDII system?

  • I emailed the overland guys and they didn't respond to I will try you. Does your tachometer work? Because I see the stock ECU was retained and i know when people put chevy 350's in a TJ they use a chevy ECU and the stock jeep one at the same time. Basically the Jeep ecu still thinks its powering an engine but one that is not running so the Tach does not move because its is controlled by the ECU on the CCD bus. I am curious as to how they solved the problem. My guess is a Euro spec diesel XJ ECU.

  • Tach doesn't work yet. Cummins 4BT has no ECU or any "real" electronics. Flywheel/crankshaft position sensor notches will be cut into a ring on the front pulley, and the stock Jeep CKP sensor used, which gets hooked up to the stock harness.

  • I thought so. Hope it works and does not throw codes at you. If you go with a European Diesel XJ computer it might be easier because they are all mechanical and the computer only drives the gauges.

  • how much did it cost

  • very nice conversion. I want to drop a 6bt into my rig. Hopefully Overland will be the installers of it as well..

  • if you decide that you want to punch the throttle in a bad situation that dana 30/35 will become metal shavings in your defferential case

  • where i can get that swap done ? a nd how much will cost? help please.

  • Wow im suprised a 35 would hold up to that, any plans to upgrade axles?

  • It's on my to-do list....

  • Theres a similar conversion on you tube with an intercooler.

    What mpg u get?

  • What are you using for the rest of the drivetrain? NV4500-NP241?

  • NV4500 NP231, D30/35, 3.73's

  • wow all stock drivetrain? thats crazy, with power like that, i'd think some serious upgrades would be neccisary. Sick swap though!!!

  • hotdog sandwiches!

  • Thanks guys!

  • Now that's cool.

  • damn skippy, I'd love a 4bt in my 98 XJ..
