Tassawar khanum's original song gets the credit because it is original. But I totally disagree as far as the singing part is concerned. Kumar Sanu has given his life into the song. The pain which he brings in is unmatchable. I like this version more.

tassawar Khanum's original and her performances live of "tu meri zindagi hai" has a serene ease to it... this song was a favorite till i heard the original, now my mind automatically compares her singing to Kumar Sanu's rendition and i get a feeling that Tassawar Khanum did a better job than him... my guess is they should have let her sing this song in the movie, replace male singer with a female singer... Just goes to show how shrewd and unethical Mahesh Bhatt actually is.

I used to listen to this song and other songs from Saajan, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin etc.. Nadeem Shravan gave simple melodies with just tabla and violin arrangements. Sameer's lyrics were awesome. It felt good to be in love those days and watching these movies and songs with my love. "Peheli Mohabbat ka ehsas hai tu" ..what a line...!
