@awesomevishy - I've got a few that might be of use. Email me and I'll get them to you. The key lies in being able to relax your mind in the act of concentration, expanding bubble of attention (not narrowing it, which is so typical of trying to be in control of a situation). One can expand the bubble of attention to take in more of one's environment and still be in a state of cognitive control (in other words, you concentrate on keeping your attention relaxed and expanded).

I get the same sentiment from engineering, physics, and medical students every week - the desire to keep the mind from becoming fuzzy, confused, or frustrated in the middle of solving complex problems. As I've told several people this week, as you master the ability to control your attention from moment to moment, you'll seldom ever get into a "stuck" mental state. When the best pro golfers (and any WISE, high level performers) get into tense situations where results are "on the line," they...
know that THE SAME MENTAL STATE THAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE THE SAME MENTAL STATE THAT RESOLVES IT. So, for instance, when Tiger or Phil (etc.) step up to address that 26 foot putt in a Major Tournament with victory at stake, and then the WIND STARTS BLOWING hard, the first thing you see them do is...STEP BACK and CLEAR THE MECHANISM. They willfully rally & center their attention and control their breathing, using breath as an Attention Target on which to direct Attention...
...at which time they HOLD THEIR ATTENTION ON TARGET until the mechanical misbehavior of their thoughts and impulses calm down, leaving them free from worrisome concerns or distractions, enabling to corral the full arsenal of their conscious intellect to execute their already conditioned skills effectively. When you find yourself in situations where you have to perform - and failure is not an option - then you need ALREADY CONDITIONED ATTENTION CONTROL SKILLS to help you carry the day. So...
...the key for you and others is to PRACTICE DAILY. That practice improves Attention Control Skills, but more importantly, establishes your Conscious awareness and knowledge ABOUT the treasure of ability you already possess. The only thing left for you at that point is to patiently allow yourself to go through any temporary discomfort that comes with rigorous effort of Attention - in the same way you would patiently overcome physical soreness in the gym. My suggestion is to get your copy...
of "7 Days To Better Brain Fitness" - totally at no cost - and READ it, then choose a few exercises to test out, especially on Page 35. Even then, it's best to start with the small things; that is, to begin purposefully controlling your Attention on even the slightest tasks, such as brushing your teeth, getting dressed, combing your hair (if you have any - not all of us do LOL!). When you can keep your Attention on those things, and keep your mind from wandering, and are able to...
...remain aware of the state of your physical body, your thoughts, and your emotions - all without allowing your Attention to be stolen (swept away) by concerns of the future or the past or useless fantasies and daydreaming - then academics (school, grades, tests) will be naturally easy to you. You'll be totally relaxed when learning and mastering even the most difficult subjects. You'll never have to be 'interested' because you'll naturally create your own.
@sentalus - If you have not had any experience EXCLUSIVELY training your power of Attention, then that is the first place you should begin. As you learn to master your faculty of Attention (rather than leave yourself a product of untrained Attention), you'll automatically improve your problem-solving ability, creativity, and academic prowess. And whereas that may sound straightforward, you actually have to commit to daily practice in the same way you would if you were training PHYSICALLY....
...because, in truth, your brain is part of your physical body. There are some aspects of your academic life which may benefit right away as you discover the facts behind your habits of Attention, and other benefits will require you to have patience. As you boost your Working Memory capacity, you'll be able to hold and strategically manipulate more data to apply to practical problems; too, you'll develop a keen interest in subjects that may be boring or tedious to you now. Rad - yes, that is correct, but you want to look at the TIP of the arrow. Further, the key is to do it LONGER than "you can" - your secret to power is to PUSH YOURSELF past your limits. The experience may be a little uncomfortable at first, in the same way you would find lifting a heavy weight uncomfortable; but, if you break past your limitation, you'll learn more about your TRUE abilities while simultaneously EXPANDING them.
One of the easiest ways for me to create my mental state that I want, which works every single time, I didnt read all of the posts, is obsessive thoughts about what I want. For example, I play poker online, and I obsessively say "Every single hand is setting up beautifully for me" , before you know it you see results of your thoughts that reinforce that it works. Your setting the tone of your vibration which attracts a vibrational match, every time!!!!! Focus is everything!!!!!
Youssefelhor --- First, I want you to know that I empathize with you and understand what you're going through (if it's you who suffering the problem). I don't dispense medical advice for obvious litigation reasons, but I will tell you from a mental fitness standpoint that your mind cannot occupy two mental states simultaneously. You can be joyful or depressed, but you can't be both in any given moment. Every mental state has a corresponding neuro-chemical basis, but that does not mean...
...that there is necessarily a neuro-chemical CAUSE. What I'm saying is that despite weak claims by medical pros who are in the pockets of drug companies, you do have the natural ability to affect your own mental state through the use of strategic mental techniques; thereby, you can affect the corresponding neuro-chemical set-up in the moment. So, what you want is either A) To CHANGE MENTAL STATE in the moment you feel bad; or, B) NOT get caught up in the negative state in the first place...
...you need to decide on at least three mental states that you enjoy (for example, Resolve, Determination, Courage, Joy, Humor, etc.). You then want to see if you can generate that mental state at will. Try it. See if you can make yourself feel Courage RIGHT NOW! If you really want to, you can. Make it into a mental exercise - create the feeling and CONCENTRATE YOUR ATTENTION ONTO IT. When you create the mental state, DO NOT RELEASE IT. Hold it for ten, fifteen minutes. Try it with....
...several different states that make you feel great and put you in an empowered mindset. Note that when in these states you are NOT thinking crappy thoughts with their accompanying crappy feelings. Why not? Well, because your mind can only occupy ONE MINDSET at a time. So, you KNOW you can CAUSE yourself to change mindsets. Now, you have to practice and master it. Such requires control of attention and focus on the end goal: CONSISTENT POSITIVE STATES. Believe me when I say that...
...I know it works because I've BEEN in your shoes with panic and phobia and now I have an arsenal of personal mental power that prevents it ever happening again; and, should it occur, I have instant tools to eradicate it. So, you want to be able to 1) Control your attention, ALWAYS!!!! 2) Master creating your own mental and emotional states, AT WILL!!!! and 3) You want to make mental fitness training a part of your daily life. At minimum, you could take on the discipline of Yoga or even...
...take up Meditation, but not like the posers who just want to show up in their cool meditation fashion and chatter about how deep they are. No, you want to go in SERIOUS about changing the mental habits that have you in a vice-grip. If you can consider these approaches, make sure you have an HONEST DOCTOR who will have your back and help you through the process WITHOUT mind-altering drugs if feasible. There are various therapies out there, but they can take forever, if they ever work.
So, to wrap it up. You MUST master the ability to control your own mental state, which means you must master your attention, which in turn means you must be able to dictate your own thoughts. @awesomevishy - I've got a few that might be of use. Email me and I'll get them to you. The key lies in being able to relax your mind in the act of concentration, expanding bubble of attention (not narrowing it, which is so typical of trying to be in control of a situation). One can expand the bubble of attention to take in more of one's environment and still be in a state of cognitive control (in other words, you concentrate on keeping your attention relaxed and expanded).

Rad - yes, that is correct, but you want to look at the TIP of the arrow. Further, the key is to do it LONGER than "you can" - your secret to power is to PUSH YOURSELF past your limits. The experience may be a little uncomfortable at first, in the same way you would find lifting a heavy weight uncomfortable; but, if you break past your limitation, you'll learn more about your TRUE abilities while simultaneously EXPANDING them.

One of the easiest ways for me to create my mental state that I want, which works every single time, I didnt read all of the posts, is obsessive thoughts about what I want. For example, I play poker online, and I obsessively say "Every single hand is setting up beautifully for me" , before you know it you see results of your thoughts that reinforce that it works.
