  • Whoever sold him that shrimp probably commited suicide after they heard about his accident.

  • Wow, I thought it was a studio version. The vocals are so super sexy.

  • holy shit, james has never sung Voices like this since..stunning...

  • Damn; James damaged voice was just a conspiracy it would seem. I wish he sung more like he did on the older albums that was awesome

  • "I'm sure you all heard about the Kevin Moore thing? He signed up as an astronaut to go to MARS..." lol

  • Is this only known show where James sing Awake with his "unharmed" voice?

  • @valsimot95 check henrikmoe90... he has loads of shows of james with unharmed voice and some from th awake tour :)

  • this must've been right before the food poisoning incident...jordan looks so bizarre here...who woulda know that in a few more years he'd be with them full time...I'm super interested in what their next thing is gonna be...they always do good work with a new member...

  • Fuck this whore, drink a troll!

    xD

  • @gangsterthomas1000 suck his dick captain seeex!!! xD misheard lyrics ftw

  • SEX IS DEATH! DEATH IS SEX!

  • @superhomsar2112

Do you know what that line means?

  • @mitchwheelz Do explain!

  • @Megafan1983

    I have nooo clue

  • "I don't wanna be here, 'cause of my suffering, 'cause of my illness. Only love is worth having, only love is what matters, loving every people on equal terms. " "You've got to know who you're dealin' with because, like a stranger, a-heh, just might come in through here with a gun... and then, what would you do? (Heh.)" "Everything is immaterial..."
  • Stop saying bullshit. I saw Labrie singing better than this something like two years ago! He sing better then ever, now!

  • @FredGlass True that. Voices sounded WAY better at '08 compared to this. Too bad they cut the bridge for some unclear reason, he is F'ing badass when they play it now.

  • @RockRulez124 They cut the bridge because it is probably unhealthy for James to sing, unfortunately. Along with the second verse of take the time and the end of the killing hand, it is the most difficult melody they have written. They skip the second verse of take the time as well, and JLB sings the passage in the killing hand in a lower register nowadays

  • @Captchaos3000 He doesn't sing it lower these days (The Killing Hand). Actually he just sang it way higher than the album version at '92-'93. And there's no such thing as "unhealthy", if it was "unhealthy" they'd cut it at '95, when he hurt his voice. I think they just don't want to bother with it because of James' nights off.

  • @RockRulez124 (The Killing Hand) I mean lower as in lower than HE sang it in '92, not lower than Dominici. (Voices) Listen to the '95 recording in Tokyo, it's obviously a huge strain for him to hit those high notes (shown by how he shouts them rather than sings them). Straining to hit high notes is unhealthy for the voice, and after his injury he didn't have the power to hit them without straining, but he tried anyways (which is likely why they didn't cut it back then).

  • "Sex is death. Death is sex!" These high notes were awesome xD

  • I miss John using Ibanez. I think if he had stayed with them and maybe updated his signature model (although I think it's still cool!) we might have an amazing Ibanez 7 string with piezo that wasn't black or made of mahogany (what's the S series for if you're going to make RG's out of mahogany?)

  • En esta epoca Labrie podia llegar a notas altas.

    Q buen video!!!

  • excellent song from an excellent band

  • do you have a link where I can download this?? =D

  • holy fuck... pretty sure John only missed like one note during that solo. if that :D

  • Lol Labrie at the end XD

"I think most of you have heard of the Kevin Moore thing. He signed up for astronaut to go to Mars" XD

  • One day medical science will reach the stage where James will be able to restore his vocals to its former glory

  • yeah, when he'll be bicentenary! :D

  • let's hope

  • @thechapstick We can only hope for now. I think that'd be freakin' awesome.

  • it it just me or does Rudess' keyboard seem a little off time around 3:29?

  • I didn't notice that. In my opinion if Rudess had stayed I think they would have made Falling Into Infinity alot better than it was.

  • @ed2point0 you are so right, they are such a great band, but I think Jordan Rudess is the only keyboardist that could possibly be in this band, he is so incredible and in my opinion, his playing and his creativity very much what turned this band from Great, to phenomenal, Not that the others aren't amazing, but you know what i mean.

  • @ed2point0 naahh i prefer sherinian's feeling on Fallin into Infinity

  • Go James!!!! Thankfully now he is back to singing like that again :-)

  • im sure that this show was before labrie's vocal rupture... :(

    but he still being god!!!!

  • This is way I fucking LOVE Labrie

  • wow... LaBrie's performance in this song, is simply P E R F E C T.

  • Wow, same members way back then and back together now. Perfect combination I'd say.

  • dam do i miss the old voice of james.... :"[

  • what accident???

  • He got food poisoning and puked up his vocal cords.

Actually he "just" damaged them.. I prefer the first one :p

  • He also toured with the ruptured vocal chords and puked blood after every show for a while, or at least so I've heard.

  • he did tour with ruptured chords but puking bloood? bullshit.

even if he was really THAT dumb to continue to sing after puking blood the band members just wouldn't let him sing even if it would include cancelling the whole tour.

  • Probably not blood, but he did puke way too much after a food poisoning...some people say "violently". And you can clearly see(err hear) the difference, really.

  • Puking your own vocal chords sounds way more Metal XD

  • This one of the ONLY videos of DT doing an awake song BEFORE James accident.

  • They are indeed incredible. I miss Labrie's melodic, unintelligible vocals...

  • Damn!

    Labrie sounds SOOOOOOOOOO good!!

  • James at the end: "Thank you very much. That one is called Voices. Before we go any further, I'd like to take this time, we have a special guest with us tonight; Jordan Rudess is with us tonight on keys. I'm sure you've all heard about the Kevin Moore thing. He signed up for an astronaut to go to Mars."

  • hahahaha

    to mars

    :P

  • What did James say in the end?

  • Yes! I have been looking for this! Thanks man, this goes to my favorites!

By the way: Dream Theater rock!

  • GRAPE to hear this Awake material live before James had his accident.

excited to see the new album!

  • DT is the best music band ever! These musicians are too excellent! omg. 'Love them!

  • fuckin awesome. me and you man, top DT bootleggers!
