it is the key, try doing the caveman version on a box or ledge sometimes instead of being a sarcastic douchebag. most people try to do some sort of half pressure-heelflip out, which is way harder than the motion he does. if you can scoop the board off, it's way easier to get your feet out of the way if you land switch.
