hi wonder if you can help, when i tried to use horn thumbring on my bow( i am a complete begginer to this archery style) when i try to draw the arrow back it wants to slip off my hand thats holding the bow and point at almost 45 degrees away from the target.it just doesnt want to stay straight!!! i am right handed but it happens wither i knock the arrow on the left or right side of the grip
Very nice bow, and a good posture! I recently bought a mongolian (40#) horsebow, which will arrive sometime this week. Understandably, I'm very excited about it :D
Kind words! I am more comfortable and am becoming more so, but 'flawless' might be a stretch! :) One big thing the video is showing me is that my bow arm is dropping a bit. I've been working on pushing the bow arm thumb toward the bullseye to prevent this.
Oh yeh. The bow is a 42#, 54" Saluki 'Turk'. Riser is African blackwood and purple heart with blonde mahogony syhas, black fiberglass and bamboo limb cores. I've since raised the brace height and it is much quieter!
I do not possess that level of discipline; that coupled with an inherent bad sense of smell would endanger myself and my hunting companions. As 'Dirty' Harry (aka Clint Eastwood) once said, "A man's got to know his limitation..."
HA! Alright. We must put an end to this! or not... :)
I am about to commission a bow from Saluki and I too want the Turk. That is the 54"? It doesn't look too big. I guess the 48" must be really tiny.
How is the pull weight? You have it at 42" - it looks easy to pull. How much more weight could you add before it became uncomfortable? Also, you say you have black fibreglass - I didn't know that was an option. Are the limbs laminated with wood or are they all fibreglass?

Have you ever run it through a chronograph to check the arrow speed?

Got it yesterday, surprisingly. I now have cuts along my left index finger, a blister and a sore arm from doing it too much :D
I've got a video on my channel of it (shooting the bow, not the blisters :P) if you're interested.

Now I see that you shot both lefty and righty.

Hi Jason,
You look much more confortable and confident with the thumbring now. Your technique is flawless.
What's the bow you're shooting.

Do you think I might be good enough to handle hunting the deadly Turkish plastic rat?!?!?

That requires years and years of vigorous training! Not to mention the ability smell plastic from miles away! You may give it a shot though!...
