Good God he's charming and talented. I'm reading Anne Sinai's "Reach for the Top" right now, and this clip is Exhibit A of all her remarks about his magnetism, charm, and amazing ability to imitate the accents and personas of all kinds of people. I also happen to be his 2nd cousin, as he's my mom's cousin (her dad's nephew). Wish his talent would have run through the family but alas, the buck stopped there--so far, that is!
Oh, he comes out much more charming and funny here than in the movies I've seen him in. Thats what I like about WML, you see some other sides to the stars, really.
Laurence Harvey - one of the most memorable TV moments ever. Rod Serling's Night Gallery. For anyone who saw it, just one word is necessary - "Earwhig".
ROOM AT THE TOP is truly a great film and Harvey gave an impeccable performance. It's a shame those types of films are being squeezed out by so many mindless film sitcoms that seem to recycle the same sentimental plots again and again. Harvey's accent reminds me of Lawford's, but without the latter's often annoying affectation.
Handsome and underrated actor - it seems that he is largely forgotten today, which is a shame. And it seems he liked and enjoyed the company of women well enough. If he played for both teams, lucky women and men! He was gorgeous and charismatic!
Laurence Harvey was a brilliant actor and for a while a major movie star. Some of his co stars such as Elizabeth Taylor (Butterfield 8) adored Larry but others such as Barbara Stanwyck and Jane Fonda ( Walk On The Wild Side) and Kim Novak
(Of Human Bondage detested Larry). He made great movies such as Room At The Top which won an Oscar for Simone Signoret.
Lol, when I scroll down and just listen to the voices he makes I can imagine a huge mustached old man talking. He had a lovely handwriting. Ha, ha, I loved the last question...the guy asking had a big grin when he asked.
Mr Harvey was indeed an underated actor. He could be very effective in the right role. Just watch him in "The Manchurian Candidate". How sad that he died so young from stomach cancer. In any case, thanks for sharing this delightful clip with us.
Very funny segment. Thank you for posting it. Laurence Harvey always reminded me of Marlene Dietrich, pretty but nothing behind it. That opinion changed when I saw Marlene in "Witness for the Prosecution" and Laurence in "The Manchurian Candidate"...my goodness, they can act! He was too young when he died, 45.
Lawrence Harvey was the real life father of Domino Harvey. Domino Harvey was the female bounty hunter portrayed by Keira Knightley in the movie "Domino"
he was south african by birth and bi sexual

He gave a great performance as Colonel Travis in John Wayne's The Alamo. Laurence Harvey died too young.
