I've always thought it would be a smart idea for large vehicles to be biodiesel. The MBT of the USA, the M1 and the M1A2 Abrams, are exstremely fuel inefficient, they get FEET per gallon. If they ran on raw biodiesel they could be fueled by all the oil coming out of chow halls. If they're in a pinch they can use cooking oil from the local population where ever they are (almost all people use some sort of cooking oil) and dump that in their tank and go.
