  • Great Radio your videos are very helpful

  • Did your radio comes with pre-programmed frequencies in memory mode? I bought my radio on 409shop.com and it looks used to me..

  • excellent indepth video. I salute you in the description on this radio. I picked this up last weekend, and had most figured out except how to disable the alarm mode. I removed battery...LOL

is there any other way to remove channels from memory besides the computer programming mode? Mine came with a lot of 445.xxx, and so on pre-programmed :(

  • @ez2curanut Hi, I don't believe you can delete memories directly on the radio itself. It might be easier to do a factory reset by holding down the u/v button while powering on. You might find the FAQ at the UV-3R yahoo group useful - groups.yahoo.com/group/UV-3R/files/FAQ/

  • I don't understand how to use this thing..UGHHH

  • I just ordered one.

  • @chrishoward9999 Would you recommend upgrading from the UV-3R Mark 1?

  • @KSL233 Personally I wouldn't bother. They are virtually identical in function. The mark 2 is just slightly easier to use and has the convenience of a single dual band antenna.

  • Yes - it's covered on the video at 09:15

  • How can we set memories in this radio?

  • @TechnoZombie You can add(write) and remove frequencies (to the memory) by using the desktop software.

  • thanks for the great video my UV-3R is in the mail and i cant wait to have a play 73s from VK5 down under

  • Nice Looks like i'll get one Thanks for doing the Demo

  • Does this radio transmit on the 450-470MHz band like the mark 1?

  • @fairchildr91248 Hello and thanks for the question. Yes is does transmit on those frequencies.

  • have you ever tried to contact the ISS with this radio?

  • @yahoorif Hi. I have not personally tried to contact the ISS with the radio.

  • @chrishoward9999 oh okay, I wonder if this radio can contact the ISS when it's pass by.

  • @yahoorif Hi. Satellites are not really my area of expertise. I guess you could, but it would probably be easier if you connected it to a circularly polarised antenna.

  • have you used it with repeaters using CTCSS

  • @matthew2000tx Yes - it works fine.

  • Hi! When you scan saved channels, does it scans on both bands, or only VHF or UHF?

  • @fixy92 Hi - It scans both UHF and VHF memories. Be warned through, the scan function is very slow on this radio.

  • @chrishoward9999 I know. I haved MK I and now I plan to buy MK II

  • I recently got this radio and i tried to find some hidden options and such with keeping a certain button held down and powering up. I think every combination will reset the device so be warned! After the reset i noticed that the FM radio receiving range which should be 88-108Mhz extended to 65-108Mhz which is handy since some hunting radios use the 68Mhz range :)

  • Great video! 73's

  • Super video, thank you...

  • Great review!!

  • Nice Reviews & enlightenment!!!

UV-3R Mark 2...Do you know the range that will transmit?

    Thanks

  • @knifedrago Hi, the output power of this device is 2W. With VHF and UHF radio, you are pretty much limited to line of site range, so if you are indoors, you won't be heard very far away, however if you were up a hill, you would probably be heard for many miles. Also note, depending on where you are in the world, and which frequencies you use, you are likely to need a licence to use this radio.

  • @chrishoward9999 thanks for the reply.

I live in Japan & not licence need here, You need a licence from 5W in here.

Great explanation.....definitely will help me as beginner.

    Thanks a LOTS.
