lol! I am trying to keep myself in check! This is my first year gardening, and don't want to overwhelm myself, but do see how it could happen! You have beautiful stuff!
@rainieda thank you very much just remember, gardening can become addictive. when this video was made I only had the back yard in to a garden now I have taken up the front yard too. :)
@lifearoundhome :) we sure do. this was last years film now I have a garden in the back of my house and one in the front. it keeps me busy and addicted. LOLOLOL
Wow! I have just begun watching some of my subscribers videos and this is amazing! I can see my future!!LOL!! The seeding thing can be a bit addictive huh??? Happy Gardening!!
If your green house got too hot, can u leave the doors open and put fans in there? I want a green house sooo bad, I have the room too as I am on 5 acres (mostly wooded, rocky, clay soil, tho)...I just dont think I could put one together by myself..I am so inept trying to read diagrams & not mechanically inclined at all, lol..I need a man! hahaha
I work 12 hour shifts so the fan thing sort of scared me so I left the window and the door open on the green house. My garden is all in boxes so it doesnt matter if it was on cement I could still garden. I have not dug one shovel in my back yard ground. even my green house is on wood. there is places that will bring the supplies out to you and build the green house. it cost a few bucks but the enjoyment you get is out standing.
R U a nurse? I am, I worked 12 hr shifts too, I love doing 12s rather than 8s as more off days..so I know how u feel...tired! lol...I have one more wooden box to put together (already bought it) but thats it for me..I am going cement blocks as they are cheap, easy beds, & dont rot...I can do a 3 x 6 block bed (18 blks) for just 23 bucks & dont have to nail or screw or bracket anything or worry about termites eating them...wish I had thought of it but some YTuber did & Im glad I saw that, lol..
I am a city bus driver, so I get alot of shift work. We dont have termites but we do have carpenter aunts which are alot like termites. I am almost done with my garden. it looks like bad weather might be coming the days are long and the sun comes out later. every thing here is turning orange and yellow you can almost get the feeling that snow may be coming soon. I hate snow.
Holy crap thats a lot of plants!!! I'm of course late to this vid and see in comments that they've either gone to the greenhouse, the outside yard/garden or that great compost pile in the sky. I'm sure it must have been a relieve not to have to water all that many potted plants!!! I'll have to check out your other vids when I have more time and see how the survivors did!
It's beautiful........yet a bit surreal and spooky all at the same time! LOL
But I can relate to your outdoor weather problems. We had three frosts in the last week and a half and I lost so much. Had to replace all of my tomatoes twice so far. grrrrr!
Holy crap!! It's still not too late to save some or most of them if you have some extra sheets or tarps or trash bags that you can cut and lay on them. As long as the plants are covered, you should be able to keep them from dying. If it's not possible to cover everything, maybe just cover the most valuable ones? I sure hope you don't lose them all. :(
I have alot in pots,so I could put them in the green house. Its suppose to rain then get cold then snow I was going to see how bad the rain was first before I put the fabric blankets on the plants. However, my tomatoe plants are huge now so I dont know how well its goint to go over. I have plants for my friends, if the plants die the I will use the ones I had for my friends and if its really bad I going to have to make a trip to the garden store, but I dont really want to. this sucks.
actually most of them are now in pots, the green house, the raised garden and anywhere else I could find room. alot of them died. My green house was cooking the plants. the pots got to hot. I lost a lot from the weather. we get really cold at night. In calgary, we are hot, humid and dry all day long and at night we are ice cold, untill july then we kind of even out by september we have bad weather and some times snow. one year we had snow in july. :( My onions and potatoes are doing great.
thanks............... I have almost all of it in the ground. I am going to put the rest in upside down pots. I will be putting another video out really soon as soon as the ugly black clouds move.
If I were you I would select the best of the plants and get them into the greenhouse now because frost won't get into the greenhouse so they will be fine. Work out your spacing for each variety and how many you can accommodate and (are you sitting down?) murder the rest...OK, OK, Freecycle them or give them to friends. You won't gain anything by trying to squeeze them all into the space you have, you'll just get spindly plants fighting for light and poor crops (I know cos I did it).
they are actually out in the garden but, we are having really crappy weather here so I will show you all of it when the weather is better. we start our flood season soon.
This is my first year gardening and I can relate gardening is very addictive I had to give some of my starts away due to the lack of room.
