i am getting frustrated all over again, over this...considering that for every one manga fan, there are at least ten anime fans, i would have to very humbly say that, speaking as an anime fan, if this came down to a vote, the vast majority would agree that usagi is NOT sailor cosmos, and therefore, when sailor stars finally comes to america, whoever the producer will be, should keep sailor cosmos OUT of the storyline.

Listen people I have really said this alot of times but here it goes again. Contrary to popular belief, Sailor Cosmos never appears in the anime. Naoko Takeuchi even commented that she wished she HAD been in the anime. A silhouette of the Light of Hope appears, which resembles Sailor Cosmos with her hair and outfit, but it isn't Sailor Cosmos. Sailor Cosmos is never mentioned in the anime.

The two versions are different, hence the use of "versions". The musicals, the live action series hell even the games. On the anime. There is no Sailor Cosmos just as in the live action there is no outers.

In the manga, Chibi Chibi is Sailor Cosmos is the future incarnation of Sailor Moon.

In the anime, Chibi Chibi is the Light of Hope, AKA Galaxia's Star Seed. The anime was made before the manga was completed. That's why the Usagi-esque silhouette appears in the anime, because the design is meant to be for Sailor Cosmos who is a future version of Usagi, but this is not so in the anime.

anime: acts to reply of the prayer of galaxia. protect the starseed of galaxia (with the power of sailor chibichibi moon and not with cosmos crystal). Take the light of hope (star seed of galaxia) and give that to Usagi.

manga: the fusion of all star seed of the OUR galaxy. with the mission of destruction of the cauldron. (but Usagi dead)

In the manga Chibi Chibi is Usagi from the future where Galaxia already took over and Usagi was too scared to face her alone she ran away, but when she realized that she couldn't leave the world as it was she decided to return to the past (Sailor Stars present time) to be there for Usagi. Also in the manga it is Chibi Chibi who turns into Sailor Cosmos, so in a sense it is Uasgi who is Sailor Cosmos

Sailor Cosmos is the future and ultimate form of Sailor Moon. Now this is how I feel the true story went, even though it's just my personal opinion. After Eternal Sailor Moon, Usagi becomes Neo-Queen Serenity. After some turbulence and misfortune the queen must once again return to being a sailor solider, Sailor Cosmos. Losing her battle, Cosmos goes to the past disguised as Chibi Chibi for Usagi's help. This is just my personal belief as to who Sailor Cosmos is and how she came into being.

If you did some research you'd know that Naoko is the author of the manga. The anime is a branch, the manga is the original; it existed before the anime, which was NOT produced by Naoko. The manga and everything in the manga is the creation of Naoko and is completely as-intended by her. The animation company Toei bought the rights to produce the anime to her creation; they added their ideas and tweaked some of hers, which makes the anime NOT completely as-intended by the original creator Naoko.

Naoko has reportedly said that the identity of Cosmos is meant to be ambiguous, even to herself. Debate over this issue has given rise to 3 distinct paths of speculation:

1) "Sailor Moon" is a hereditary title, much like "Queen", and a future girl (not Usagi, but likely her descendant) steps up to the title and SHE becomes Sailor Cosmos.

2) Usagi dies as Neo-Queen Serenity and gets reincarnated as a Sailor senshi again.
