CONSERVATIVE!!?? UM...excuse me? MY DAD ( JOHNNY CASH ) was a LIBERAL! AMEN OliviaReed and Johnnybandmember!!
JEEZ...did anyone of those people know who he was and what he stood for? He died before Bush sent troops over but in the privacy of his office at home his words to me were, "honey, I grieve for my children, grandchildren and future generations if this President takes us to war.
When invited to perform at the White House for the first time in 1972, President Richard Nixon's office requested that he play "Okie from Muskogee" (a satirical Merle Haggard song about people who despised youthful drug users and war protesters) and "Welfare Cadillac" (a Guy Drake song that derides the integrity of welfare recipients). Cash declined to play either song and instead played a series of more left-leaning, politically-charged songs.
The irony to this video of course is that Johnny Cash, who once said, "If you watch the helicopters bring in the wounded boys, then you go into the wards and sing for 'em and try to do your best to cheer them up so that they can get back home, it might make you a dove with claws", would probably be as much against the war in Iraq as he was Viet Nam.
I don't know how he would have voted but I don't think it would have been for McCain/Palin.
off course he vote 4 ron paul

You would have to stubbornly ignore 90% of Johnny's lyrics to think he was conservative.
Listen to "What is Truth" for example or "Man in Black".
Johnny Cash, if you listen to the words he sang, falls somewhere between Green Party and Democrat.
If you go by the sound, which would be pretty dumb, and say "He played country, I guess he would vote Republican" ...
Ask Willie Nelson if you have to be conservative to play country.

How would Johnny Cash vote ?
I think he told us :
You wonder why I'm gonna vote Barack
Cause I think the man can get things back on track
And if the way I'm talking seems to have a somber tone
The reasons that I have they should be known
I vote Barack for the poor and the beaten down
Livin in the hopeless hungry side of town
I vote Barack for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime
But is there because he's a victim of the time

I vote Barack for those who've never read
Or listened to the words that Jesus said
About the road to happiness through love and charity
Why you'd think he was talking straight to you and me
Well we're doin' mighty fine I do suppose
In our streak of lightning cars and fancy clothes
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back
Up front there oughta be this man Barack

I'm voting for the sick and lonely old
For the wreckless ones whose bad trip left them cold
I vote Barack in mournin' for the lives that could have been
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men
And I vote for the thousands who have died
Believing that the Lord was on their side
I vote for another hundred thousand who have died
Believing that we all were on their side

There's things that never will be right I know
And things need changin' everywhere you go
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right
You'll never see me voting on the Right
I'd love to vote Republican today
And tell the world that everythings okay
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back
'Til things are brighter, I'm voting Barack
