Hmmm, he is the master so I can't be too critical, but I saw him do a show like this once where I just wanted him to do one song the way you remember it. I like his recent incarnation better.
I love bob, this performance with comment was exactly on time and still today is revelant. He has the pulse of our times. this performance is classic and this gutarist is smokin"
this video looks like it's adam sandler making fun of dylan... he def sounds like he's playing shitty on purpose didn't want to be there or something cause this is this first time i've disliked the way he sang
He made it' hideous' on purpose for this live T.V. awards show performance. - because, so apparently, folks did not get the message from his earlier renditions.
As I recall from my historical research, Dylan actually had a fever on this day which might have accounted for his higher-than-usual nasally vocal. Yet, I enjoy it. :)
@andrewdb01 And it was his weird alcoholic recovery years when he had a bad writers block before he would come back with Time out of Mind and Love and Theft. But this performance was terrible.
Yeah, I mean don't forget, Bob had been singing for 40+ years. Look at people like Tom Waits: quality voices don't last forever, and anyone whose does never stepped out of the recording studio.
hahaha speech was awesome! "well my Daddy he didn't leave me too much you know he was a very simple man and he didn't leave me alot but what he told me was this, he did said Son.. He said umm...... *long pause*....... He said so many things you know." hahaha.. at 6:16 he looks at the award and shakes his head lol would love to know what it was that Bob was unsure of. lol

True to form, Dylan is both confounding and true to himself.

He had to be on something, he was so fidgety during his acceptance speech, and probably while he was singing as well.

very strange. but i've never expected him to be conventional. and i remember everybody talking about this the next day.
he may have had a fever or the flu. but it looks like he took everything in the medicine cabinet to take away symptoms. just an opinion.

Kind of sounds like the clash covering the song at times, defiantly a different Take on it. I like it.
