I had the privilege of speaking with this humble man last night. He was back at attica raceway and back in the seat of the #4 hotrod!! He stated he feels better than before this accident!
Danny and the crowd got a bit lucky, if you notice, the guardrail actually stopped the car from plowing right through/over the catch fence when he ran over it with his rear wheels. Lucky break, could've been a lot worse. Hope he's doing alright.
thanks 4 the update chillgirl007=) Im so glad Danny got 2 go hme friday best wishes 2 his speedy recovery n hope 2 c him next yr at kc may god bless=)
there goes out competitor but hope he gets better i was wondering why he wasn't racing at kc last time i went but i new someone got hurt but i only know him as the #4 so i did not know tho the helmet was for but i put money in it to help
wow thats wonderful news=) chilliracegirl007 so glad 2 hear tht tell him we r all pulling 4 him n thinking of him hope 2 c him next yr at kc raceway best wishes 2 him n his family thanks 4 the update n hope 2 c more on here
Sounds like throttle stuck or foot was on it, only after he hit the catch fence. You can hear him lift and stab it again trying to save it. Motor wasn't screaming when the car was flying through the air. Hope he makes a full recovery and can race another day. Get well soon Danny.
the rut in turn 3 and 4... that rut was causing alot of driver to have problems in qualifying plus it has been given drivers alot of trouble the past month or so cuz a friend of mine hit it and he ended up flipping his 305 sprint car 15 times nose over end the whole way thru the turn
fence did what it was suppose to do and that was keep the cars from going into the pits! the safety crew did its job in getting the driver safely out of the car! they did a excellent job of being there quick and also yes alot of people did swarm the car but they did it the safe way from the sides and back! i hope that danny will get better fast and safely altho i honestly dont think he will get back into a sprint car to race with his back broke in 3 spots. also what caused him to loose it was
i have been going to attica for a long time and yes this is the worst crash i have seen so far in my lifetime. i do gotta say i am glad to hear that the driver is on his way to a speedy recover but i also gotta say ARP has done some intense upgrading with the new fence. last yr a sprint car went off the middle of turn 3 & 4 and ended up in the pits cuz of the old fence they had that consisted of a dirt pile and old telephone poles! now think if they had that what would have happened. that new
@prattc7b What about Bryan Scotts 410 crash in 06. When he went off 1 and 2 landed on a jersey barrier and went all the way to the barn. Brandon Martin was the one who went in the pits.
That was a very scary accident, but perhaps more scary was the lack of a retaining wall around the track to keep such an event from happening. It's happened a few times in the past couple months so maybe they'll make the change.
To all: Got back from the hospital earlier. Danny looked good and did talk a lil bit. Slept mostly. He will have two rods put in his back and the verts fused together with donor bone and maybe some from his hip. Dr. Trumell (Dr. who has done many surgeries on many drivers out of Indy) spoke directly to the neo surg. at Grant. Trumell would be doing the exact surgery, but because Danny shouldn't be transported it will be done in the morning at Grant. Hopefully he will be home in 3-5 days.
Ive watched Danny race many of times at KC Raceway he is an excellent driver this is a horrible crash wow I wld like 2 wish him the best of luck w/a speedy recovery n his family n friends r in my thoughts so a great driver hope 2 c him next yr at KC Raceway hope 2 b kept updated on his recovery get well soon buddie
Why do idiots like gnarlyda-ass have to post things. It being fathers day it makes you wonder how proud his father must be of him. That is if he knows who fathered him. Get well soon Danny!
Hats off to the safety crew and new catch fence. This was a freak accident. I've been goin to Attica for 20 years and have never seen anything like it. But stop and think for a moment how much worse this would have been if this happened goin into turn 1 instead. There is no catch fence down there, and myself and others where in the parkin lot watching qualifying. This is one of those things we can learn from and take further safety precautions ie, catch fence in turns 1 and 2. Best wishes Danny.
And where was the safety fence that would have prevented such a horrible crash? I should send the folks at Attica an alarm clock...cuz it's time to WAKE UP!!!!!!
@Chilli Race Girl007 ..Thank you for the update . i am pleased to hear that he will recover to hopefully race again .best regards from the Bluezhound . i was just going to ask about any updates and read your post again thanks for the info .
Just wanted to let you all know how Danny is doing. I just got off the phone with his wife as he was being wheeled back into his room from a scan.I heard him talking.:) Danny has a triple fracture in his L4 vertebrae, but its stable. He had small bleeding happening in his belly, probably due to the force put on his spine, that been stablized too. He injured an elbow and was having a little bit of seepage...nothing major. Danny will have surgery Monday.
I was right there at Todd Kane's pit in turn 4 and watched this all go down. What you can barely see at the end is the whole bottom of the engine caught fire immediately after this. As the former owner of this racetrack, I have to applaud the safety measures at ARP. If the car would have broke free it would have been going into the pit tower. I just wish that people would stop swarming accident scenes like this if they arent official track personnel. Get well soon Danny.
i pray for him and his family. stuff like this is a tragic, yet its part of the sport we have all come to know and love. i wish a speedy recovery to the driver and my condolences to the family and those close to the driver
thank god he is ok

if that catch fence wasnt thier, that thing would have ran into the pits and may have injured people or worse.
