Strangely enough, prior to this song being popular with the Taiwanese college students from either UH Manao or Hawaii Pacific University, the regular patrons, most of them got married. i think you've misunderstood one thing, youtube is a platform for anyone to post almost anything, and then it is fully open to public freedom of speech within certain social boundaries; racism, sexism, etc.

Though I have absolutely nothing against Taiwan, I'd rather learn the Mandarin of the mainland, since more people speak it.

My teacher lived in Taiwan for 10 years, though, so we learn a lot of little expressions that Taiwanese people use, like "hao re" instead of "hen re" or "hao bang ah" instead of "hen bang"
