  • If i had to unload mine there would have a pile of tools on shoulder)) Do you wanna sell your spare remote?)))))

  • NOTHING OF VALUE WAS LOST

  • So, does anyone know what could have or did cause this? I have a 2009 HHR-LS FFV. I've never had any trouble with it and love it totally, but I'd like to know what to look out for. I do know they run a little hotter... which can be a plus in cold weather when you just want to defrost your car. I've always wondered though if that means its at more of a risk for car fires. Mine, if allowed to idle for an extended period of time, will get up to 209 degrees farenheit. Usually though it's 187.

  • wow the roof was melting

  • That sad because i have an hhr

  • Everything burned but the chevy sign. Way to go GM

  • Great video but, hey fellow firefighters, why are you fighting a car fire with out your SCBA??? Not safe guys.

  • you know thats going to show on carfax lol

  • lmao everything was melting then burning

  • GM quality, baby...it's hot! lol

  • Thats achevy for ya

  • Wow....what a terrifying experience. And such a beautiful car. :( Thanks for recording and sharing. It really serves a lesson as to how quickly things can get out of control

  • que pasó? ups que mala onda... Era tuya? eso lo paga el seguro?

  • que pasó? ups que mala onda... Era tuya?

  • Just let it sit there and turn into a crispy critter, eh?

  • Why firefighters did nothing?

  • you know this was used in a lawsuit lol

  • What happened? I'm have this car and I don't want to happen lol

  • @TomieDTrigga yeah I'll like to know too...I have this car too...it's really giving me bad vibes...ever since the get go...it was a "forced" trade in...I had a perfectly well kept PT Cruiser and now I have all kinds of issues with this mechanical asshole...

  • They should of moved their stuff further away

  • I hope they remembered to get the baby out of the back seat.

  • Interesting clip, Thank you

  • typical gov't motors garbage.

  • @blitz811 totally agree with you...I got it last July and I have all kinds of issues! I call it the "Mechanical Asshole". Mine was a unfair trade with some guy who basically traded me this piece of crap for my PT Cruiser he said "you have more space on the HHR"...but he forgot to mention the HHR was salvaged...now I can't even buy a warranty on it! and the things is I have 15 month old twins! I'm afraid to drive it now....

  • A brand new interior, paint job and straighten up any minor flaws then powww ... There you have it, a brand spanking new ready to roll cool car ...

  • @bestamerica : what the fuck are you talking about?

  • Aw. I'm sad now :(

  • GM quality just abounds!

  • *Pulls out folding chair, sets it up, and drinks my soda* :P

  • holy crap!

  • explosion at 6:00 lol!

  • @PhilsCinema What caused the burning smell? Was it after a very hard braking event, or was the parking brake engaged? The ticking sound is not abnormal for any car with disc brakes. Under extreme braking the discs can reach over 1,000 degrees. That ticking sound you're hearing is the disc cooling and the metal shrinking again, since it expands with heat. The exhaust does the same thing after a long trip, when you get home.

  • good tube

  • I think your going to need new seats.

  • Can someone explain me why it doesn't explode? And no i'm not stupid or something

    I was just wondering.

  • @speedstertje You watch to much TV cars do not just go BOOM

  • The dealer wont fix the clunking noise, they say they don't hear it LOL..This is a common problem with the HHR and Cobolt.Yet the dealer knows nothing about it?I did like the car ,if not for the strut problem and the low windshield.I was getting 32 mpg in town!I bought the car from Peaterson Chevrolet in Boise Idaho, they refused to fix it when it had only five thousand miles on it.

  • im a volunteer firefighter and watching this makes me ashamed... people standing behind the vechile and firefighters fighting without scbas so many things were done wrong in that fire..

  • The HHR that I had was a real POS.It made a clunking noise over bumps, had super thin sheet metal,if you leaned against it you would make a dent.the windshield is so low that you have to bend down to see traffic signals, was under powered and had crappy brakes..Other than that it was a great car!

  • lol, i love it the owners had enough time to get everything out of the car before it engulfed in flames.

  • Homo Hot Rod

  • WTF that plastic just disintegrated?

  • Sure it ain't a ford or dodge burnin...?

  • So much for the prompt service you get from On Star.kinda hard to talk when your breathing smoke and your ass in on fire...Question:Was it stupidity or a design flaw(closed grille)or both?

  • I figured out the problem: It's a Chevy!

  • So much for Onstar*

  • Wow, these smores are so chocolately... it even has a hint of petrol... lol

  • BONFIRE!!! Break out the smores!

  • when does it explode like in Grand Theft Auto?

  • wow! what a Camp fire! Why didn't you shut the tailgate, and the door? Maybe the flames would take longer to take over all the car, and the inside would escape intact.

  • Comment removed

  • omg a 2006 did u had problems with it. So i guess that means ur getting a 2011 chevy camro now lol.

  • worst car ever built! and this POS is slapped togeather in Mexico LOL

  • @MrRemo58 No its not its way better than your GEO

  • there is cum on the back of that car lol jp

  • It looks pretty durable!!! I'm shopping for one tomorrow!!!

  • Uncle Sam OWNS CHEVROLET Enough said Failed Government owning a failure of a company

  • nevermind...

  • This looks like my city! IS this in Austin??

  • You always wanted flames on the black right??

  • sorry but...

    LOL

  • was that your car on fire

  • '

what happen to this HHR car getting start the fire in the motor,,,

let me explain 4 reasons =

1 - the front grille is a closed as a blind / block the radiator and not enough to get cooler air to the motor,,,

2 - not check the right oil and STP oil supplyment,,,

3 - not check the coolage water in the radiator,,,

4 - chevrolet HHR is a fail automaker

  • @bestamerica

    1. What HHR are you looking at? Definitely not a closed grille...

    2. Oil supplement?

    3. What the hell is coolage?

    4. Chevrolet HHR is not an automaker....

  • ericbrow123,

    '

    hi there,,,

dont use a word - YOU - on me,,,

1 - yes front grille is closed not FULL closed and not enough get cooler to the radiator,,,

see many times HHR cars around in los angeles county area and see this video,,,

2 - yes chevy / chevrolet / GM make this HHR car or not,,,

3 - if not then what country make this HHR car

  • @bestamerica

YOU need to learn a few facts. I have an HHR. Not a closed grille. There is no such thing as a closed grille...because if it were closed it wouldn't be a grille.

    Sorry, cooler doesn't work either.

  • the plastics melted off, haha

  • What happen??

  • CHEVY SUCKS...

  • GM suck

  • what is funny is people are rubber necking and aren't moving to the left lane...good thing the smoke is blowing away from the traffic ... there was one explosion...no masks ?..I've read where people have lots of problems with the HHR

  • looked like a really nice black hhr too

  • @jesuparearacing Cause the recall was not the problem. It is the o rings for the fuel line/injectors. clubgp . com

  • That will buff right out

  • I would say pushing that red OnStar button would have helped :D

  • The worst thing to happen to your vehicle is this.

  • Thats why you dont drive chevys

  • @beatlespersun HHR actually means Heritage High Roof

  • he was smoking i saw him drop the cigar in the seat!!

  • Well on the plus side.....well there is no plus side to this

  • the best logo not damage Chey

  • At least the fire was suddenly and not during a crash or something

  • At least they got a free car wash :P

  • Chevy HHR=Chevy Hot Hot Ride

  • I hope OSHA and the NFPA do not see this video! This fire crew should know to have there "Air packs" or SCBAs (Self Contained Breathing Apperatus) on! there is a lot of toxic stuff in all that smoke. This entire fire crew should be disiplinded severly!! They are not going to do any one any good if they become over come from the smoke and CO. I hope this is not how they normally do there jobs. Nice video, good quallity. I wish you would have had sound though. Thanks for the video.

  • when i was watching this i noticed the same thing. for the love of god at least put the pack on. the placement of the truck was also most likely within the the blast zone if the car had let go.

  • hhr no

  • hhr no no no no no no no

  • no hhr lt no

  • I have the 2008 one wery nice car

  • Fire took a bit long to show up on scene

  • i have a 2006 HHR knock on some wood NEVER caught fire

  • Door open = more oxigen for the fire. With closed door the fire go more slow.

  • One slightly used HHR from a non smoker!

  • There was an opportunity to save some of the car (still an expensive fix though). But for the time it took to get the fire department out there and unravel the hose, they could of just let the car completely burn.

  • I love mi HHR, never had a problem with it in 3 years of use, low gasoline consumption, fairly good safety, an the best price in market.

  • TOLTECNICO: Have you had any steering problems with your Chevy HHR?

The Chevy HHR and Saturn Ion have the EXACT same defective power steering systems as the Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5, but GM is currently only recalling the Cobalt and G5.

The government won't order a recall of the Chevy HHR until a certain number of accidents happen and complaints are filed with NHTSA.

Before the recall, Cobalt and G5 owners were being charged $900 to $2,500 to have their power steering systems repaired.

  • Not one problem in three years. I hope it keeps like this ;)

  • at 3:50, is that sulpher smoke coming out the passenger side rear door? funny how it took forever for the firedepartment to attend to this, and how no one ever pulled over to help put it out, I always carry a fire extinguisher

  • GM blows, NO customer service on known defects, have to kiss to much ass for free repairs..Ill never buy another one

  • and the HHR is just a SUV version of a cavalier...

  • Well heres a thing to consider IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DRIVE THE DAMN THING....if you drive it hard all the time....shit breaks...and that goes for ANY car....and in all honesty its a fire that can happen to any one...but somewhere along the line who ever was driving it...thats there fault...if you take care of a car...it will run for ever...

  • that's what you get for buying a piece of junk chevy that is owned by a bankrupt company.

  • I work at Gm taking calls for customer service (people bitching about their vehicle) and I have a list of cars I would buy from GM based on which models nobody ever complains about. HHR Is one of those cars nobody ever complains about. If you have one, good for you. It's one of the most practical cars out there. It looks somewhat unconventional but it makes a PT cruiser look like the white trash mobile it is.

  • @slunkmonky everyone i've talked to that has one has decaying chevy badges and a service airbag light that randomly lights up. oh and the manual's shift knob falls off.

  • @slunkmonky i've had my 08 HHR for 2 years now and it has nearly 40, 000 miles on it and it still drives+ works like new. my mom's new 09 Dodge Journey has half the milage and it's already falling apart. i know this HHR will last me a long time and i'm very proud of it. i'll drive GM for the rest of my life.

  • @slunkmonky I hve it, fuckin hate. It looks ok and drives ok, but the electrical system suks, it was leaking water through that plastic between the hood and windshield, I had to replace the heat/ac fan and solenoid three times. and to replace a headlight in it is bs

  • @RangerMJMarsh23 if there is no explanaation for that issue besides a manufacturers defect then even out of warranty they might help you out if you have the work done at the dealership. They can pay for the repair or offer coverage. Depends on what they find when they diagnose, just remember the dealer isn't owned by GM so they usually dont mind telling you if its caused by a bad design or soemthing.

  • @RangerMJMarsh23 I had the same problem of it leaking water between the windshield and the plastic, turns out that from the factory they never put weatherstripping all the way around the windshield on mine. I discovered it on a road trip right when I crossed 33,000 and the dealer i bought it from wouldn't even warranty it even though it was obviously that way from the factory. After I filled it up with RTV Silicon never had another issue with that.

  • @RangerMJMarsh23 I have the same problem. Turns out from the factory they never put weatherstripping all the way around the windshield. When I took it back in the dealership wouldn't warranty it either since i was a couple miles past the 30,000 bumper to bumper mark even though it was a flaw from the factory. Filling the gap with RTV Silicon did the trick and I haven't had another issue.

  • @slunkmonky It's the Ecotec motor, man. I used to work at a Chevy dealer in Florida and in the 2 and a half years I was there we /never/ had an HHR or Cobalt ever come in with the same issue (at least big issues, a lot of them had paint scratching on armrests, but no big deal). Every now and then we'd get a fluke, like something screwed up in the manufacturing process, but those motors and transmissions are great. Practically bulletproof.

  • @egitlebob Cobalts seemed to me to have a ton of issues but the motor was usually not it. transmission was only an issue if they had a manual and that was still rare. I think also you get a lot of complaints with cobalts because many of the people who buy them were on the cusp of buying used and ended up buying new and not affording it. They want soemthing for free if anything happens at any mileage.

  • @slunkmonky too many gms with fires nope nada nill nope

  • : (

  • wow damn this movie is so good

  • imo the regular HHRs arent as good, their engine fans die a lot, which was probably wat happened here, that or no oil. The SS However is way more reliable that the LT and LS versions. SO imo, get a SS not an LT or LS.

  • I have a 2008 LT that was worked issued. No, no, no I didn't buy it. Piece of junk. Ours takes atleast three tries to start. It will be up in flames here soon. It looks like they burn well, cool video.

  • my '08 LT is the best thing i've ever driven. it drives very well, and it was a demo vehicle! i'm just saying that not all HHR's are crappy. i wonder what's up with yours. =/

  • Don't know, it's been in the shop repeatedly since they bought it. Everyday something new happens and everytime the computer is scanned for codes it says something different than the last time. It took ten minutes to start yesterday. Oh well, if they don't get it bought back by GM soon under they lemon law, a match and can of 87 will help it.

  • well i hope you get that figured out, it's not fair to you. =/ good luck! :)

  • What sort of quality control at the factory, I wonder.

  • these cars are shitty and a lot more chevys are too.

  • Shows a good reason not to buy the 1st model year. I have an 08 but have not got any recall notices yet. Are their any for the 06 to fix this problem ?

  • We are driving again to Boston (from Northern Michigan) over Labor Day, but this time in a TrailBlazer. Hopefully our trip will be Uneventful, except the fun we hope to have visiting our son in Boston :-)

  • That's why my friend still has no car. his HHR today caught fire in the engine & shit went fast & I forgot to bring my camera!!! Fuck these cars!!!

  • This video is one I took when ours caught fire while driving to vacation in Boston Last Labor Day. Glad I got the camera out before the fire took over! Did your friend have any warning?

  • No warning. Car ran fine earlier from what my friend told me & after picking me up to go to the mall, the car just sputtered & died. When we got out, that's when we noticed flames coming out from under the hood & I would say about 3 minutes later, the interior caught fire. My friend had a $4000 sound system, his wallet, ipod still in there, all burnt to a crisp. Chevy's are good, but they f'ed up with the HHR. Peace!

  • sad thing by the time the fire depot comes the whole car is bye bye

  • I love how at 4:06 it starts to ooz this gooey stuff out of the roof. Kind of looks like marshmallow fluff except its hot and it doesn't belong on a sandwich!

  • Comment removed

  • WOW! damn thing burned like a BMW....one HOT fire

  • burn u piece of shit if u were a dodge u wouldnt have this problem

  • i beg to differ, dodge is the worst POS on the face of this earth, plus have you looked at how many has burnt to the ground, you can ask any fire fighter on what make of car they have seen the most on fire, they will tell you dodge.

  • If your car has any kind of fire, hopefully you have insurance. Better off to just let it burn. The car will never be the same if you try and fix it! No doubt the interior would stink for a long time. Probably just going to give you further headaches! I

  • I have a HHR 2007 and comes without extintor. Somebody can tell me if this just happen with 2007 model?

  • HHR doesn´t come with extintor isn´t?

  • For Sale 2006 Chevrolet Hot Hot Ride!! LMAO!!

  • all specs wee adhered to by the manufacturer, oil being changed..etc..

No aftermarket parts installed. This is a PLain HHR burning for no reason. Maybe thats a reason GM is recalling their cars.

  • For Sale: 2006 HHR SS new interior and new paint!!

  • ...wait..is that an SS? oh thats soo sad

  • i bet the idiot didnt change the oil or something, that or ran out of coolant

  • that will cause the engine to seize not a fire.

  • yea watever

  • yea. if not then all the cash for clunkers would be catching on fire.

  • Ok CalCruise somebody with a fire extinguisher isnt going to be able to put the fire out anyway so I dont see why your making such a big deal about all the people that didnt stop, What are they going to do about it? You just have to wait for the Fire Dept. to show up

  • KILL IT KILL IT WITH FIRE!!1!11!!11!!

  • I'll tell you what happen. Its a chevy

  • wow... that sucks. somethin musta been faulty..did it have leather? i heard its very flammable lol.

  • From the beginning of the (fire) scene, hundreds of cars passt by. But nobody tried to help with a hand-held (fire) extinguisher,( that usually many cars have on board)to put the fire out. This is the very sad point for me on this video clip. Not only to prevent the car from burning down, fires like this could be the cause for extensive fire, that burns down holes areas & houses . . . .

  • They saw an HHR and clapped.

  • Bull crap, not many people carry fire extinguishers. And at that point in the fire it wouldnt help much

  • We're there any aftermarket accesssories added to this vehicle?? Any alterations to the factory wiring under the hood?? Yes, that fire was not attacked correctly, SCBA (AIR PACKS) are a must!! come on what does it take to donn?? 90 seconds if your slow? You're not saving a thing so if that worth your health??

  • Chevys burn to.. Any vehicle can have a malfunction...

  • I have an HHR and it's working fine but I can't seem to know what is going on with the pressure of one of the tires, the dam computer won't read the pressure. Anybody has a tip for these ???? Thanks

  • wow poor hhr...hate 2 be the owner of that..but at least now they got black on black

  • After months of trying to get my HHR fixed. I finally found a GM service dept. that knew what it was doing. My HHR was stalling out several times a day. But the people who fixed it did it fast and did it well. For you HHR owners with stalling problems check out having the throttle body cleaned. It worked for me. As for all other GM complaints I leveled. Maybe I should have directed them at the bad service dept. Apparently they are not all the same. I am willing to give GM another look.

  • This is helpful, considering I just bought a used 2006 HHR.

  • Still no clue on why, how, or what started the fire. It just happened randomly while driving on the highway. If you see flames come up from under the hood, pull over!

  • my hhr stalls all the time. It goes thru rotors faster than oil. The shifter broke and I could go into any gear at any time. A friends shifter broke and her key locked up in the ignition. Do a web search for hhr stalls. There are hundreds like me stuck with this travesty of a car. gm needs to go away forever. I hope they do not get bailed out.

  • i am a mechanic and i have worked on several of these cars and to me one of the main problems is with the engine that chevy decided to put in these cars the engine is to small and is being over worked just my 2 cents

  • You're probably right! I have an hhr but lucky for me its not under powered. I will think twice before pushing it on a triple digit day!

  • ooops. Thats because it is an SS. 2.0l turbo!

  • That made no sense the main guy on the line had no airpack but the guy in the back does

  • I can hear the onstar operator now, "Hello, Hello, are you ok? Do you need assistance? Can we sell you a 2 year extension?"

  • The Chevy HHR is a good car tho.My dad has one an 06.Things are the best vehicle around atleast thats what i think. They handle nice and drive smooth.

  • around 6 minutes the quality of GM shows through.

  • No sound??

  • of course not!! why are you askin'?
