You just helped prove my G-man theory with this cut scene. I believe G-man is some what like Mr.Manhatten from watchmen. This crystal may have affected G-man's mind and given him abilities. Why he truly does what he does is still a total mystery.

@zeroG131 what hell are you talking about? The only reference to crystals was when Gman gave the scientist a crystal from Xen to open a portal to that world. So he planned the Black Mesa incident in the being. He also states that he has restrictions, implying that their is a higher being then him.

I now think Gman and his employers are not only messing with Earth but the other dimensions:The Combine world, Xen, etc. Giving that scientist the crystal and causing the Black Mesa incident was just apart of the plan. They're affecting the events in each dimension. Which is also why Gman is messing with Gordon. While the dimensions are fighting, Gman and his employers want to take control of all dimesions, as well as fuse them into one world.

His "employers" must literally be influencing each faction/timeline to bring about some sort of HUGE cosmic event, and it seems likely the activation of the Borealis' portal technology may be what they've been attempting to trigger all along. They (whoever THEY are) seem to have planned this sequence of events like dominoes
