  • When I was a kid I had 3 channels with hundreds of great programs like "In Search Of" to watch.

Nowadays, I have hundreds of channels with few (if any) great programs and no "In Search Of!"

  • It's a downright shame that we don't have shows like this on TV anymore...

    We have "Jackass" instead.

  • Wow, to hear that intro music again after all these years. Brings back many memories..as well as the shows themselves. Thanks for uploading, Aspergian! You're what makes YouTube worth its existence!

  • SPOK

  • Leonard Nimoy?

  • Was this whole series filmed in 16mm? Or was the pan and scan degrading to the 35mm? I always thought the series was soo dark..too much black saturation, but maybe that's for effect? One of the great TV series..thanks for sharing clear episodes.

  • @oatstao yeah, i saw a doc on the making of, and to drive home the etherial effect, the lighting and color saturation was kept as dramatic effect. but remember, these were shot with the idea that they would be viewed on crts

  • This show used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid.

  • This was my favorite show when I was a kid. Leonard Nimoy rocks!

  • i love hans holzer.I follow his approach in my own "ghost hunting".I use trance mediums, witnesses, and my own eyes and ears,no equipment.I find lost souls and send them to the other side so that they may have peace

  • Yeah right.... Call ghost busters eh?

  • So groovy. Why did I have to grow up in the age of depravity and limitless greed?

Fuck the world sucks at the moment.

  • physics, teaches us that energy can neither be created nor destroyed . only change its form . what happens to the electrical energy of a biological being.

  • Awesome I have the Hanz Holzer Ghosts book, its got this story in it of them filming, I am so happy I got to watch the investigation and read it as well! Thanks for posting this! It would be sweet if we could remake this series!

  • i'm always a sucker for a good ghost story!

  • man that was one heck of a series

  • @privatechihuahua21

you can say that again. i even loved the music

  • I love this show. It's such a Great ThrowBack...leonard Nimoy is creepy to begin with

  • Did'nt Hans Hozler investigate the amityville house?

  • RIP Hans Holzer 1920 - 2009

  • IN SEARCH OF ruled! But I think its one of the reasons I had night terrors as a kid, lol...

  • ITS MR. SPOCK!!!!

    --

  • Can't be, Spock's meant to be rational. Unless he was turned human.. Knew wearing tights in the 70's was a way to kill off thought and rationale. Probably what brought the idea that flares were cool.

  • In Search Of..(1976-82,1995) great series that delved into the world in which we live in denial of and what DVD distributor released this series?

  • There is no DVD distributor. Universal Studios has the rights to this television series, yet they have refused to budge on making it officially available on DVD.

  • Yes a great series In Search Of.. and a good choice of host to narrate such a series about Ghosts & UFO's.

In Search Of..(1976-82, 1995) um what DVD distributor released this series please?

  • i think its more of political correctness in terms of people being afraid to be real anymore....All In the Family, The Jeffersons, old SNL...I dont think we will ever see that type of fearless expression in our shows again

  • 1970s I think??????/

  • There should be more shows like these today.

  • when were these shows made?

  • In the mid-to-late seventies.

  • why are all the old shows like this better than the new shows today?

  • Because they are appearing much more serious (certainly the narrators) and often the music were moody unlike the shit we get to see/hear these days.

  • exactly!!!

  • they had a passion for something more than money maybe?

  • @Recon1867 coz those shows were purely knowledge based...unlike cash-based shows today.....every show is trying to cash in everything.....and almost every guy with a camera thinks he is a paranormal investigator...

  • @Recon1867 Just like music isn't it? Music today sucks too.

  • I've heard of this Hans Hozler guy. I think Heather Goldsmith has some of his books, she's into all that witch shit.

  • Thanks for posting this. I loved watching this show as a kid.

  • Spock!!!!!!

    RIP Hans Holzer

  • gosh I miss seeing this show on the history channel!

  • i love the leonard nemoy narrations in this show

  • Hello I'm from Costa Rica, Central America, I'm 33 years old, and I remember been watching this series after school, more than 20 years ago. I loved it, the stories, the mistery.

  • and also narrated by the most logical of people... Leonard Nimoy!

  • I always watched this in the morning b4 school! I was so afriad of "the elephant man" episode!

  • This is cool! I remember watching this on Saturday nights with my parents and sisters. It was a great show, and we always had really interesting discussions afterward. At the time, it was one of the few times our opinion on a subject was asked for and listened to. Thank you for posting!

  • brings back nice memories of getting home from work when i was 16 and watching this great series while eating my evening meal

  • I watched the "In Search Of" show when I was a kid and it was intriguing... the topics they would explore. Did I believe everything they did? maybe not always, but it sure was fun to think about. thnks for doing this Aspergian!

  • @skelton39

Me too. The vast majority of ghost investigations nowadays, has too many drama queens and not enough scientific research. "In Search Of" wasnt perfect, but it was well done for its time.....for me its funny to see the old way television looked liked...I have gotten used to the HD t.v.,where everything is so crystal clear....this show brings back memories of being a kid in the 70's.

  • @skelton39 Totally same here. I can't believe it staarted in 1976!! Crazy. It was a monemental time slot on TV for these young eyes and brain. HELLA scary sometimes! I was 3 years old in 1976.

  • It's too bad, Hans was kind of a schill. That kid he brought in for the sequence at the Port Clyde "fishing village" was a paid actor from New York . Notice how you don't see his family or anything. Just him, all primmed and procured for the track meet -aka- appearance on TV. And the two ladies in the next part, DEFINITE actors. Sad to see this in retrospect. Hans, you dirty-two-timer you! playing your little games while alive. There is just no substance in this episode.

  • @skelton39 I watched Arthur C Clark also, when I was a kid. loved em'!!!!!!!

  • I loved this show when I was a kid but it scared the s*#t out of me! I wish there was a show like this on now.

  • Nimoy greatest narrator.

  • VERY interesting!

  • Good God!! This series need to be brought back, with DMX hosting it.

  • Thanks for posting!

It's good to see this show in it's unedited entirety unlike that re-tooled mess A&E aired a number of years back!

  • I love the music. It is so 'informational' reminds me of the Air "Moon Safari" album.

  • Could someone upload the episode on Laugh Therapy?

  • LOVED this show - scared the living sh!t out of me when I was a kid.

  • Ugh I try and find this track on limewire and all I can find is the version with one of those Japanese guitars with the long handle. Its not the same thing. :(

  • ^ Wrong video, disreguard. :P

  • Awesome :D Aspergian you ought to upload more of these if you can. Where did you get this one?

  • This episode came as part of a collection of episodes I got of the first season (1976-1977) on DVDs from a friend of mine.

  • Where'd he/she get the DVDs? :-o

  • From YouTube member g8trman77 or whatever the screen name is.

  • Ah :D

  • I remember that wonderful shit. I was just a baby. I am Spanish and Leonard Nimoy scared me

  • Yes, all Spanish people seem to suffer from the 'Nimoy Effect'. It is unfortunate but apparently inevitable and untreatable.

  • These used to scare the sh%* out of me! Thanks so much for posting!!!

    And that theme music...OMG..., memories!

  • Can anyone upload the episode on witches? I love the old 'In Search Of' shows!

  • Yeah I think there was. Wikipedia lists all the episodes.

  • Dude, I'm reading your book. Haunted New England. Its very good ^^

  • Whose book? o.o Hans Holzer's? *naive*

  • Hans Holzer is my hero! I STILL study his books about ghost hunting. I read his books when I was a child and they were an inspiration to me.

Thank you for posting this. I'm making it a fav.

  • this naive man as u so call him is 80 odd years old and is still doing ghost investigations!! and is the best in parapsychology, says something huh??

  • I swear to god the opening reminds me so much of a Dario Argento movie lol. Great show

  • Wow, this programme used to scare me so much...now it looks so lame!

  • heh yeah I know the feeling, still a cool show though.

  • How I long for the good old days when stories like Bob's account of his nighttime visitation scared me on a very primal level instead of making me think, "dude, you got molestered, LOL!"

  • this show scared the poop out my butt when i was little

  • Wow, can't believe this is available. I distinctly remember this episode when it first aired. I was about 10 years old, and it scared the crap out of me at the time!

  • "Disco-Ghost Hunters"

  • Leonard Nimoy FTW!

  • this fil is to old!

    nothing else maters!

  • Jesus,, is that mr star treck spock ? so thats what he did when not exploring the depths of the universe ! ghost hunting, lol

  • Somebody needs to petition whomever owns the rights to In Search Of to release all materials to some vid production company so that we can enjoy a nice re-mastered DVD boxset of this invaluable material....Just a thought.

  • NEAT! Where in the world did you find this show in its original format?!? I can't seem to find this series anywhere.

  • the ghosts know that they are dead this guy has to do evp´s and listen carefully

  • God i used to LOVE this show!!!

  • ok so howcome ive never seen any ghosts and the hundreds off people i know but you g on the media and it seems like everyones see them.. LOAD OF SHIT but my dad has realy seen a ufo and has the pictures to prove it

  • Think of it this way. You haven't had any ghost related stuff happen to you, so you don't believe it. Your dad had an UFO experience, so now you believe in UFOs. I've never had a UFO experience but I know I won't because most of them are complete bullshit and misunderstandings.

  • I haven't seen a ufo, or nessie, or bigfoot, or anything else but I have seen other things.. so what's the difference? I think ufos are a load of shit too but I'm smart enough to know just because I haven't seen one yet doesn't mean they're not there. As far as pics go they can be disproved as easily.

  • I believe he knows what he is talking about. Hans is brilliant and paved the way for fellow ghost hunters. :)

  • Hans Holzer is full of crap but thank you for posting htis vid!!

  • copyright 1972??? dude... where the hell did you find this??

  • Sweet Holy Moses! Scary stuff. So old school. Love it!

  • And isn't it ironic that I used improper grammar in my response to DEMONE? I am such a hippo crate!

  • "How can they possibly demostrate ANY of their theories scientifically."

First of all you should always end an interrogative statement with a question mark.

Secondly...huh? often use the word theory to signify a an opinion, or a speculation. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality.

  • Jeepers! These paranormal folks just make stuff up as they go. How can they possibly demostrate ANY of their theories scientifically. There isn't even any evidence for life after death, let alone being able to make contact.

  • Thanks so much!! So hard to find!!

  • possibly THE scariest episode of In Search Of... and I saw this one at about 11pm one night when parents were gone!

  • Hans Holzer either looks tired, drunk, or high. LOL

  • I loved this when they re-aired them on the History Channel. Thanks for the memories!

  • wonderfull to see these again., one episode that has stuck in my mind since, I think it was Haunted Castles not sure..., where a young girl was recounting her mothers Aunt visited by some strange being. would love to see that one again., Thanks for posting!

  • The source is the History Channel run from a while back. Watchable quality.

  • I got all the episodes on dvd, I never get tired of watching the ghost stories.

  • What is the source of the episodes you have on DVD?

  • Oh man...are we getting old or what?

I remember this as a kid and I loved this show...

  • I remember this as a kid and getting the **** scared out of me. Five stars.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I used to watch this show at school back in 1976 and this was my favorite episode. I haven't seen it in 30 years!

  • Excellent. Thanks ever so much for posting this. I have about 100 episodes on tape but this is one I do not have. Great series.

  • You're very welcome. I'll be posting other full episodes when I can get them. The episode on UFOs from this same season (1976-1977) which g8trman 77 posted has the beginning part of the opening title sequence missing. This episode has it intact. In all my postings of episodes, I will be making sure that they are original and unedited, like this one is.
