you are hilarious (you made me snortlaugh), and also some hell of a mechanical genius. i've been gathering parts for a while to build just such a device- but got stuck as far as how to actually assemble them. i am now inspired to commence with the cannibalize and hack. thank you ever so much.
I work at an outdoor ed camp, where we're starting a new lesson on spinning wool, using a system very similar to what you have, also home-made by our boss.
Thanks for a hilarious video. It was entertaining to watch. My brother (and colleague) and I burst out laughing sometimes at your silly faces. So, thanks for the laughs.
Look forward to more entertaining and educational videos in the future, Kim!
(Make funny tutorials on how to spin wool. YOU CAN DOO EET!) Less whispering, plz. XD
BAAZZAARR!!! I in my life time have made hundreds and hundreds of spinning devices but this is CRASZY You talked about art so I asume that is why there are extras as the sewing machine bobbin sissors and spools of tread on your wheel. Still way cool. JUST LOVED the vedio.
Yes, if you would...that would be so freaking awesome!!! Can you use your video camera to give us a "tour" and describe what you did and used for the treadle and the footman? There are wheels like this on the 'net but they all have it so that you spin the wheel by hand just like any other charkha. I need a treadle as I have arthritis and being able to use a treadle would be ideal. Closeups and as much detail as you can give us would be so much appreciated, you have no idea.
I would love some pics too of it. I have been trying to explain it to my husband and he needs more pics to figure it all out. It would be greatly appreciated!
Way cool. I can't afford a commercial wheel and I was thinking the same as the other gal about how to use an old bicycle wheel and some leftover lumber and make a great wheel or a treadle one. Please post details on how you made it. Thanks. Great job.
Thanks for sharing this. I've been looking all over the net on how to make one out of a bicycle wheel and yours is the kind I want to make. How did you hack together the footman? Would you please share more with us abot how you made this?
