how is watching movies on it? is 11,6" far too small? i'm considering to buy it because of its mobility and other great values but i'm afraid the screen might just be too small to watch movies on it regularly? and what about the noise? are the fans actually annoying? would be nice if i get a quick response :) cheers~

i just bought this laptop yesterday :)

well i dont intend to play games on it but i might try a few classic titles

overall its a pretty good laptop

what impressed me the most is the battery life

but the only problem is charging is quite long

It's using Intel 4500MHD, it's not going to be fantastic to game on by any means - older titles are going to be usable though. I'd not even try to play anything current on it, it's not designed for that :)

Ours has been very quiet - it is a very small fan so I guess it has the potential to spin very fast, but it's a smooth fan and generally hardly spins at all!

Did you ever succeed in making the recovery DVDs? Are they bootable ?

Is there a panel under it to easily access the RAM modules ? Are there any free slots ?

Yes, I have an external USB DVD-RW drive, so used that. I haven't tried booting from the discs though, I assume you can.

There is a panel underneath to access both RAM slots easily. The hard disk is also accessible. The laptop can take 4GB of RAM maximum, 2 x 2GB sticks. It ships with 1 x 2GB and 1 x 1GB stick.

but it may well do 9 and a half hours wouldnt it? in a german review ive read that they measured 11 hours 53 minutes!! and still over 5 hours under full load. thats why i'm seriously considering this notebook.

I definitely think it could - playing fullscreen DVD video it lasts about 6 hours!

Personally I like it - it feels fast and responsive, it's very quiet, the battery life is awesome. Only small negatives are fairly weak speakers and the screen viewing angles are a little poor; but that's to be expected on a device of this class :-)

Ok cool - I'm seriously considering this a portable which doubles up as home entertainment by hooking it up to my plasma. I guess the viewing angle problem is not a big deal if i'm doing this - or does it become an issue with fundamental home/office tasks?

Yeah that's a good use for it - HDMI support on it works perfectly, audio is streamed through the HDMI port as expected. The viewing angle is OK as long as you are the only person looking at it, but no good for sharing with other people.
