This show rocks... we don't have anything similar in the UK. If only it were that simple though... Christianity has never stressed equality since the Christian god doesn't acknowledge that other races exist. This is why so much racial hatred has been expressed in the name of Jesus; and why the Bible can be used to justify homophobia and sexism. It has had its day and should no longer be taught to children.
@Calebdaguy - What does that have to do with this story? I believe unless I misunderstood, the child suggested what many have throughout the years, that the GOVT (like the Romans) were the murderers, killing king, like Jesus, because they feared his rising power and what were radical beliefs at the time. I don;t think this was a slam on religion, if that is what you are eluding to.
I remember growing up as a kid and thinking that public radio was the most loathsome thing on earth. Now I'm 23 and I can't imagine a world without it.

i bet ye ten bucks the story is fictional and the girl is just supposed to give it more weight.
George Carlin has said the exact same thing, referencing a bunch more people with a similar message.
yeah, advocating peace is the surest way to die by violence. maybe not surprising if you imagine opponents of your advocacy would have to be pro-violence anyway eh...
Just sends chills up and down your body.

If anyone was curious, the music building in the background is the song "Gathering Storm" by Godspeed You Black Emperor. Beautiful song.

In addition to speaking about racial tolerance, Martin Luther King also spoke the following words:
"The United States of America is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today."
He was speaking of the Vietnam War of course, but his observation still holds true today.

I bet you're not an avid listener of public radio, because if you were, you'd probably think before speaking (or typing).

The simple, unvarnished truth. I think sometimes "atheists" are closer to God than so-called "religious."
