People from a national background where you needed skill-sets to operate in complex specialized economies will probably find it more likely that they are capable of operating in that framework. By the time he died he learned that there were even some Africans who were responsible for capturing their fellow men. My wife is Jamaican and she read a book a few years ago and she saw similar things. slave owners all over the world shared ways to break down the slaves. if u get a chance to visit a place like that no matter what country u should, we were all in the same position. one u should read is (Slave Women in Caribbean Society) about what women went thru. read about the arabs to. they were just as cruel.

@mondrequs I agree with you. The past isn't just erased and the damage isn't corrected just because America decided to institute a law to prohibit slavery. The degradation and suffering leaves ripples within society, and the raising of consciousness is probably the only solution. That's why X is a hero of mine....he had the courage to stand up and challenge the whole nation.

I agree, that recent slavery is definately part of it. (Please hear me out and tell me what you think. I am being sincere!)
However, I think the recent departure of African Americans from a society of tribalism, historically speaking, has left a disproportionate percentage of the African Diaspora population unable to cope with and live in a modern society essentially designed from and based off European culture. Im not sayin all black folks (by a long-shot), just more of them than whites.

@mondrequs I am more saying that generally, 'uncivil' people are more likely to come from an 'uncivil' background.
People from a national background where you needed skill-sets to operate in complex specialized economies will probably find it more likely that they are capable of operating in that framework. However much this effect is based on nature (which I am arguing for) and however much this effect is based on nurture (which you are arguing for) is probably specific to the individual. :)

@mondrequs well, I really don't think black folks are necessarily dumber, and I agree that the legacy of slavery is quite a damper on the education and self-esteem of African Americans.
But this does not counter my argument that 'folks whose ancestors haven't lived long in specialized societies' (where "savagery" is slowly bred out) possess genetic dispositions less tailored to life in those types of societies (like the one we live in)! I don't have hate for ya, I just go by William Shockley.

Information is knowledge but we must filter what we take in so that it doesn't corrupt our minds. Every race has violated human rights not just whites. I am an African-American women and yes this information angers me but I can't act on anger which many of you are doing. We all have ugly thoughts and evil ideas. By the time he died he learned that there were even some Africans who were responsible for capturing their fellow men. Now the Africans had no idea that they were sending their men into such harsh conditions, but they like getting paid. Malcolm X was killed because he learned who was planning his death and he figured out the system. He died before he could make those final revalations. People since have filled in some of the blanks. Malcolm X could have changed the whole world.

This is onlyt one stage in the evolution of Malcolm X as a human being. He was only just starting to investigate things for himself around the time of this speech. He was just a puppet for Elijah Muhammad at the time. After he went to Mecca and learned how to learn for himself, the first thing he did was to tell his people to look for the truth themselves rather than listen to somebody. Then he began to unravel the system of things little by little while sharing his findings with his people.

Watch the later Malcolm X videos. He learned that many of the teachings of the NOI (Nation of Islam) were wrong. He learned that judging a person because of the color of his skin (white OR black, etc.) was wrong. See, prejudice was what he had to deal with his WHOLE life until he went to Mecca. When he talked with Prince Faisal of Mecca, he learned that the NOI did not practice the true Islam as he previously thought. The NOI did however, provide a moral background but that was all.
