  • the beat of new york... 1-0-3-5... ktu

  • I love the videos like this one with a lot of passion & attitude! I like the scence when Diana is at the bar fighting, just awesome!! She looks like a tiger!! One of the best videos of all time!!

  • That weave is terrible! its done all wrong, she should of let me do it,too much seperation from the front to the back she goes from short to long, her real hair in the front and weave in the back, what a mess!

  • I never understood this video or this song or what is was about but I still loved it. Is there anyone out there who is sort of obsessed w/her solo work in the the 80's and early 90's like me? Thanks for the upload:)

  • How come Daryl Hall doesn't get in credit in the billing, in the video or here on the video in the tags? This song should've been and should be billed Diana Ross and Daryl Hall in my opinion, he had a HUGE part in making it.

  • @Jaheartsjonas He wrote the song and is mentioned on the album cover.

  • Lol Daryl Hall is the geek of the 80s. He even admitted it recently.

  • Horrible. Daryl Hall should be ashamed.

  • @97doodlebug It's heavily influenced (and mixed by Arthur Baker) and stuff like this was huge in clubs in 1984 - 1985. This track was enormous in underground NYC clubs....

  • @97doodlebug Nothing to be ashamed of, far from it. And I love Daryl's sexy voice in his single and H2O hit songs - too!!!

  • whoa! bitch slapped by D with her big hair...

  • Diana hit #19 in Billboard, 10-27-84. Produced and written by Daryl Hall. God bless ya, sister Diana! Thanx, samboxed, for postin' it.

  • This is a damn good song!! But I never hear it on 80's flashback radio stations! WHY?? This song is awesome!

  • Ex-Supremes vocalist + D. Hall production/background vocals = winning formula! Plotline, performance, intention, music... All positive energies are summoned on this track! A great success, no matter how much commercial it was.

  • @jeuleud i agree. daryl hall was running hot at this time. this is a mini pop opera. drama, spoken parts, dance, european influences, daryl on backing vocals. a great song and a great clip. a lot of clips have no imagination these days. i think production costs must be too high. panic at the disco have some great 80's style clips.

  • Swept away indeed by .Diana Ross and Michael Jackson..

  • just dreadful

  • THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNKKKKKKKKKK YOUUUUUUUU...!!!!!!!!

  • great thanks

  • that is one ugly groid that white woman supposedly wants. white women are doing a good job of getting black men charged with domestic violence.

  • later, erasure did a little number called blue savannah song, which collected and re-presented the essence of this production.

  • cat fight!

  • I guess this dude didn't get dem panties after all Dat sucks! Who wouldn't wanna do Ross.

  • Comment removed

  • This was the #1 dance song of 1984. They played this a lot on the radio, and on TV, but of course not on MTV.

  • @shmuli9 Why do you say 'Of course' not on MTV? Had it been banned from it for some reason?

  • @jeuleud Well, you're not from the US, but in "those incredibly ancient days" of the early 1980s, "MTV only "allowed" white musical artists (Prince and Michael Jackson were the exceptions) to be played... That changed by 1985 or so, but in 1984, that "policy" was still in effect...

  • @shmuli9 I'm glad I'm European then again!!! Thanks for telling me that fact, Shmuli!

  • @jeuleud No worries! (And I'm also glad you said "I'm glad", as "I'm proud" doesn't even make any sense.)

  • @shmuli9 I really meant to say 'glad', you cousin from Canada!!!

  • @jeuleud Heh... you DID say "glad"... (That was me, editorializing...)

  • Even though she stopped having hits 25 years ago, Diana's career as reflected in her chart accomplishments surpasses those of Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Michael Jackson and Madonna. Her ONLY challenger for the title of greatest living musician is Paul McCartney.

  • @rin3guy How in the heck did you come up with that assessment?! Diana doesn't hold a candle to any of those artists that you mentioned. Now don't get me wrong...I love me some MISS ROSS. But to say that her chart accomplishments surpasses the others is laughable. In addition to the fact, that the others have outsold her many times over.

  • @robinquinc329 give her some credit. she was selling records before the days of digital and filmclips. of course the modern singers have sold more but diana had so many charting albums and singles. these days artists make one album every 18 months or so. diana worked her box off recording and selling to a world that was not as close techno;ogically as it is today. 12 number ones with the supremes and 5/6 of her own and she charted into the mid 2000's in some countries.

  • @wonderboyjoy You are absolutely correct. What I am saying is that her solo career in a lot of ways does not compare with the others. But don't get me wrong, I LOVE "The Boss."

  • @wonderboyjoy Records don't sell anymore and haven't for a while. Diana is a case in point: she has sold over 100 million records over her career including the Supremes..

Beyonce? 11.2 million. Worldwide. Total. Selling records ha s not been indicative of artistic success for a long time now.

    Times are very different.

  • One of my all time favorite Diana Ross songs & her best with RCA

  • Darryl Hall produced this song. I had this album...and it was a good one too. If you listen real close near the end you can hear Darryl.

  • The glistening effects of the water and the intensity ofthe fire...well the lightning in this vid is awesome! Oh..and the lady diva herself..surpasses them both!

  • I love that shot of her under the glistening water.

  • Unbelievable wild dance song from La Diva herself.

She wanted to do a dance hit at the time, well here it was!

Classy, and standing on top, together of all that came out in those days..especially 1984 was special: Electronics were upcoming and after 1984 music changed forever..

  • @Therealanimale

Yes, 1984 was a great year for music...Look at my channel for the eighties year by year!!!!

    Thanks....

  • This song popped into my head out of the blue yesterday. Glad to find it and hear it here.

  • this song is coooooolllll!!!!

  • this song didn't become a huge hit for Diana, but I think it's an awesome DANCE song!!! Fierce, sexy, and sassy! lol

  • Jeff Beck guitar solo : - )

  • This was the sh*t back then! Whenever they played this during the night in a club, the ENTIRE club would be dancing!

  • I love this song!

  • I can hear Daryl Hall singing backup!!!

  • its a good song accept for the faux dance floor rape movements! But Diana is a classic and her hair is huge!

  • Hit #3 soul, #19 pop in Billboard. Written and produced by Daryl Hall. God bless!

  • Ms ROSS !

  • this was written by Halls and Oats's ?

  • @HerbertReid Yes.

  • It was written by Darryl Hall, not with John Oates.

  • @Quaisheezy I never knew that, I loved her and this song though, I always loved Hall & Oates, it's a great combo too

  • It does not matter what any negative comments are said bout her she is incomparable & fabulous still!!!!!

  • this used to be my song!!!!

  • I wish every one could read the book"secret of a sparrow" It is a memoir and it is very inspirational.she is sincere in it and it help understand how she got the courage to let go of all the things who hold her back and find a way to go on no matter what every one said. The world is full of negative and jealous people, just read yourself when you post a text comment.LOVE

  • Happy 66th BIRTHDAY DIANA!

  • Well, what do you know? I just read that Diana announced a new tour this spring. If her people read this could you please tell her to quit doing the same boring setlist and add songs like Mirror Mirror and Muscles? I would actually consider seeing her live if she would quit singing the same damn boring setlist on each tour.

  • @SoXfused I couldn't agree with you more. If she sings that Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand one more time....... I had my fill of that song20 years ago.

  • @AprilStevensSunny: Exactly. She's got 50 years worth of songs to choose from, and she sings the same damn songs over and over each tour. I know many other fans who are tired of the same songs as well. I also don't need to hear I Will Survive, Touch Me In The Morning, or the Mahogany theme again. I also think using I'm Coming Out as the very first song for the past 30 years is getting really old as well. Change it up some Diana!

  • @SoXfused totally agree with you! 40 years of solo carreer, so many hits but she keeps doing the same setlist over and over again! if i hear "i will survive" again , I'm gonna kill my self!

  • @81StrangeFruit:

That's what I hate about these older artists. They get completely stuck on a particular set and that's IT. Not to mention many of them lose their edge as they continue. Their new stuff is always hella soft and stuff, nothing but ballads and shit. Boring!!

  • @sigmaK9 Why would they do anything new? People go to hear their hits. The songs that they already know. She probably doesn't even have label anymore. Her days of having hits have long been over. I am sorry, but a lot of people don't want to hear her singing new stuff in concert.

  • @81StrangeFruit "I Will Survive"? That's by Gloria Gaynor, ain't it? What's this got to do with Diana??? LOL

  • @SoXfused She quit singing those old, boring songs YEARS ago––and instead lets her AUDIENCES sing them while she stands there and smiles! Not a bad gig, huh? LOL

  • And alot of people do different genres of music everyday to try to reach to different audiences. I don't see why it's such a big deal when Diana do it. Everything she do is a problem to everybody. Let her Be!.

  • And another thing if you had somebody controlling you and your career for all those years and telling you what you can and cannot do you would eventually want some kind of control as well. So stop downing Diana. She was doing what she thought she had to do.

  • Ya'll on here really having a long discussion about Diana. If ya'll think it sucks so bad don't bother to look it up. That's just alot of negativity she don't need. Not every album or song she do will be a hit she does have a long career. So get over it! Damn.

  • Irony.... her ex-husband that she was still in love with fell to his death (like the guy in this video) mountain climbing.. irony #2, her signature song "aint no mountain high enough to keep me from you baby"

  • Diana really redeemed herself after the Ross album with the Swept Away album. two top 20 hits and one top 10, and there were other cuts that was good too (Telephone, Touch by Touch). Then came Eaten Alive...............

  • @carolinaguy321: Hey, Eaten Alive was a good album too. It was the Red Hot Mess album from '87 when it all started going downhill..

  • I forgot about Red Hot, and horrible song, "Dirty Looks". I guess that goes to show how good I thought it was. RCA must have been pissed with her by this point...

  • @carolinaguy321: I doubt RCA got their $20 million back that they invested in her - that was a huge amount back then. The only album with them that did well WORLDWIDE was the Why Do Fools... album. It's Diana's fault though because she insisted on doing everything her way. Well, we see the results of that. Sad.

  • @SoXfused if you recall the main reason for leaving Motown was so she could be creative and make decisions and that is wht many artist from the 60's, 70's,80's,90 and today are nolonger around because they didn't try to take chances on their career. Diana Ross has been around 40 plus years and as long as RCA continues to reissue her albums they will get their 20 million back one way or another.

  • @jjrosingana: I'm all for artists trying new genres of music, but you've got to have good material to go with it. Her RCA days were very hit & miss. And FYI - there's not ONE of her RCA albums on iTunes, unless you count that half-assed "The RCA Years" singles collection album. Other than that, it's like she (and RCA) want to forget the whole tenure there ever happened.

  • 7 yrs of garbage and attitude no wonder they want to forget about it... she's not doing that RCA garage in her shows today either with the exception of "Missing you" no its her 60's 70s, 80's Motown stuff that she's still doing, you know all the music that was "imposed" on her by Berry Gordy.

  • I must say I liked the Eaten Alive album - it was the only good album she released on RCA (probably because the Bee-Gees did the producing instead of her). The problem with the RCA albums is she insisted on doing most of the producing and she is NO producer by any means. By the time she returned to Motown in '89, Berry had left and it was too late to salvage her career. Even going back to Nile Rodgers for songs was a disaster with that Workin' Overtime flop.

  • @SXfuxed. I didn't listen to the Eaten alive album, I just couldn't geet past hat cheezy video, but you hit the nail on the head with your comments. Diana does not know how to pick a hit nor produce herself, the 2 things that she's insisted upon. But in your opinion what do you think happened with her "Workin Overtime" debacle? why asn't Nile Rogers able to deliver a good product for her?

  • @yurherenow: Nile Rodgers wasn't able to get her back on track for a few reasons. One is that Nile ditched his trademark guitars and basslines for the cheesy New Jack Swing fad that was big at the time, which was basically drum machines and synths instead of real live instruments. I also think that nobody was going to take a then 45 year old woman seriously singing hip hop music, especially teenagers. The whole thing was a mess.

  • @SoXfused, wow then I feel a little sympathy for her in that regard because she put herself out there with Niles and he didn't deliver... but your'e right a diana ross doing hip-hop didn't make any sense. It was a horrendous album with the exception of 1 or 2 tracks.

  • so funny that the whole time she was at Motown all she did was resist Berry Gordy's direction & influence. reluctantly recording the songs he selected for her. the strange thing is 40 yrs later it is those songs that she's still running around the world singing & the garbage that she insisted on doing is long forgotten. diana aught to get down and kiss berry gordys ring.

  • why she was doing "her thing" which included refusing to work with her former producers like Michael Masser he was producing whitney houston, "all at once" "greatest love of all" and several other smash hits... diana was doing garbage like this, refusing to listen to anyone. it ended her recording career..

  • I've often thought about how Diana must hate Tina Turner. Diana wanted to be a rocker so bad but nobody was buying it. Tina COULD pull it off though. By 1984 Diana's career was winding down while Tina's took off. All these years later it's Tina who's still performing stadiums at 70 years old while Diana can only get booked at little events and openings here and there. It's sad. But the difference is Tina actually listened to her management/record company while Diana had to do everything her way.

  • @ SoXfused, your right again... I thought I as the only one who noticed diana wanted to be a rocker,,, she started introducing loud screeching guitars in all of her music... no one could or would envision her that ay, and it sounded awful. None of her hits had loud rock guitar solos in them, that should have told her something, sadly without Berry Gordy's guiding hand she didn't know what the hell she was doing with her career.

  • @yurherenow: Another reason she never succeded as a rocker is because she had to many damn types of music on each album. She'd go from a hard rock song to a slow ballad to a R&B song to a pop song to a jazz song. How can you build a permanent audience like that? I remember seeing a video of her performing on Johnny Carson in '81, and she performed that cheesy ass "Why Do Fools" first and then afterwards immitated headbanging when she sang "Mirror Mirror". It was bizzare.

  • @SoXfused, not too mention that she does not have a rocker voice... her albums are usually all over the place.. take me higher was pretty good except for the title cut.. anyone should have been able to hear that song was "not" a hit and should not be the lead song on her album.. Everyday's a new day... again, no obvious lead single, she did return to her more soulful roots and seemed to give up on diana the rocker. I didn't even listen to her last cd, I love you, way too dull.

  • Her 90's output was even worse than her 80's stuff. There were a total of 4 songs that I liked from her 90's stuff: The Force Behind The Power, Take Me Higher (I actually I liked that song) and then the remixes of Until We Meet Again and Not Over You Yet. Everything else was bland, bland, bland. I didn't listen to the stupid I Love You album either because I don't care about a covers album. Sad as it is, I think she's pretty much done recording new material. Oh well.

  • @ SoXfused, yeh, I liked "Not over you yet" "and a couple other tracks from that album, she's had a couple of hits in the UK. a remake of "when you tell me that you love me" with a UK boy band, she hasn't done anything in the 2000's in the USA worth mentioning. she hired some of the worst producers for her "I love you" album, the ones that let her call the shots. I refused to buy it. I read somewhere it sold 250,000K if you can believe that.

  • Actually I'm surprised it sold that much. Nobody wants a whole album of cover songs. That's so unoriginal and lazy. Since this year marks 30 years since the "diana" album was released, maybe she could celebrate it by working with Nile Rodgers (who produced that album) one more time and release an album of new material. But unfortunately I don't think Diana even cares anymore. She just wants to keep performing at little events here and there singing the same old boring songs.

  • @SoXfused everyone please stop talking to this evil a** fu** all he does is sit here and be negative no one wants to hear that mess. What has your mother done? has she entertained millions for 50 years. Until your evil mother (evil for raising a hate monger) does half the things in life that Diana has done..shut up. I bet i could pick apart your lazy mom because it was definitely lazy for her to raise someone who lives to spew hate.

  • @ludel Stop being a pussy and accept not everyone likes every fucking thing Diana does.

  • & the sad thing is now her voice is deteriorating due to age. she sounds almost nothing like she did for the bulk of her career. I don't like the low gruffy vocals she puts out now. & who ever is mixing her music doesn't know what their doing. the mix is usually all wrong.

  • I actually don't think that her voice is deteriorating due to age, I think she's just lazy and doesn't even bother practicing anymore (and lets be honest, her voice was nice, but it was thin and not very strong). I saw Tina Turner in concert last year at 69 years old singing just like she always had. But Tina actually puts effort into her shows. Diana just seems to not even care now. She just walks around in big stupid dresses on stage and doesn't even try dancing these days.

  • Reminds me of Venezuela!

  • Fun memories of the mid 80s. Thanks for posting this.

  • Reply to "dolphinbuc"...ditto, man!

  • Yeah...I can remember dancing to this at the club (Chute # 1) in 1984. Best times of my life...probably because I was 21 and knew it wasn't gonna last forevea!

Thanks for posting & summoning my grand past :)

  • Still jammin this joint right now....literally.

  • This was one of Diana's biggest dance hits. We danced our behinds off to this song back in the day in the clubs. Diana at her best. Thanks for the post and the memories.

  • Nothing last forever

  • @SweetSoulIAm TRUE...EVEN CARBON

  • Nothing last forever but this was a nice song love it

  • Hey Diana, all white men in your videos. i guess its true that this diva likes her coffee with milk. you go girl !

  • true, but the love interest in this is black...or maybe blatino

  • or southern european, or middle eastern, or asian, who cares? i respect her for doing that, especially when it was frowned upon to even date outside your group.

  • thw guys in this video does not look anglo saxon to me...and in muscles i am sure their are guys of various races. in chain reaction their are african americans. in gone her boyfriend in african american and in many of diana's videos there is noone except her....how do you get this all white men business?

  • Correct on the track body and soul it was all of you daryl hall was featured on swept away on the remix and julio on the japan and south american release see how smart artist where back in the day record sales cheers

  • To correct the person who says at 6:03 on this song is Daryl Hall incorrect it is Julio Iglesias whom The Boss did two songs with listen again and check the album credits Julio was on this track and also body and soul which they sang together cheers

  • huh? Daryl Hall wrote and produced this, and is singing backup. period.

  • we understand that M but on the japan version we are saying Julio was on the trakck you right calm down :)

  • sorry...you are wrong!!it is Daryl Hall on this song,he produced it!! Julio Iglesias sang with her on the song''All Of You'' which is a beautiful love song...I have both albums, thats how I know

  • i like this....

  • i loved the remix of this that was on here about a year ago...it was faster and çhunkier'.

  • i like daryl hall's vocals starting at around 6:03...

  • it reminds me something of the beyonce' video of baby boy....

  • everything beyonce does reminds me of someone else. it has all been done before and much of it by diana...she is genius.

  • Fabulous... Ross!

  • fabulous is right...

  • Ross one of the most eternal STARS***** of all time. DUH... read the reports... Guiness Book Of Records, Rolling Stone... one fine lady who knew how to make herself a legend... then, now and forever... Thanks Diane Ernestine Ross... love ya'

  • Written by Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates.

  • i wonder if it matters?

  • nope, cuz nothin' lasts forever...

  • i love this song.always thought it was called a desert island.(((cause nothing last forever, nothing last forever i was .swept away

  • She was thinking of Mary Wilson when she was fighting. LOL!

  • MrMagicMoment, what's with all the gay this, gay that comments? Gay or Straight, Diana should be happy to take any fans she can get these days considering the state of her career.

  • i think she has always been happy with her fans...no matter who...people judge diana but, in public anyway, i have never seen or heard her judge anyone.

  • love it!!!!! is this a chic production?

  • No Daryl Hall (from Hall and Oates) and Sara Allen wrote this, and Arthur Baker produced this if I recall correctly. If you even listen close enough you can hear Daryl doing backup vocals.

  • wow that makes it even cooler! Is the rest of the EP like this? Thnaks

  • No, but hey there is a chic-ish production on the EP. Check out "Telephone" (you can youtube it, just do "telephone diana ross") and that was produced by Bernard Edwards and I think Tony Thompson does the drum work and etc. I love "Telephone" a lot, but that's the only Chic like production on the EP.

  • What a wonderful song and video. I love how in the end she kills that no good SOB..lol! As for anyone who thinks Ms. Ross doesn't appreciate her Gay fans, just look up her video with RuPaul here on YT..you can clearly see how much she appreciates them. People all around the world appreciate her music, not just Gay people, and let's not forget it was the world in general that put her up on top. She will always be a Legendary performer, and no one can take that away from her.

  • As sophisticated and glamorous as her music, look and stage shows can be.....her music videos are almost always as garish, amateur, campy and ridiculously tacky.

It's always been a mystery why a really top notch video director has never been allowed to showcase her beauty and talent in a music video.

It's pretty shocking that music stars far less established than her have music videos of very high artistic merit.

Guess she does want to be the Boss ...unfortunately.

  • so well said truckerjohn.

  • While I really enjoy this song, this is the first time I've watched the video for it. I find myself perplexed by the intermixing of decent footage with some very annoying characters, such as the dude playing the accordion in the cafe scenes. It seems like in the shots where Diana is alone, she really holds the video together. But the rest of the cast really detracts. The beach and bed scenes of Diana work well, but altogether dissapointing considering how great I think the song itself is.

  • What a long music video. Diana Ross is a very good dancer, aswell as singer.

  • Okay, for those of You who pretend You know Ross's Rca stuff. Swept Away the song did hit number ONE on the Soul Charts. It was a HIT in the Clubs. 5 Songs from this Album charted.'' Telephone '', as well as ''Forever Young'' charted on the Adult Charts. ''All Of You'' and Yes Missing You which became her LAST big Hit in America okay. I still have the Chart Mags from back in the day. They don't lie.

  • princestafford you got all that right on it! Those charts don't lie. Swept Away was a substantial hit project Top 40 and Top 10 positions and #1 singles

  • Preach to the chirren! SMASH ALBUM!

    The LP itself hit: #26 Pop/#7 R&B - USA (45 wks charted), #10 Sweden, #40 UK, #7 Norway, #23 Finland, #17 Switzerland

    "Swept Away": #1 Dance/Club Play. #3 R&B, #19 Pop, #17 Canada

"Touch By Touch": #11 Sweden, #10 Norway, #47 UK, also got USA club play!

"All Of You": #12 US Pop (Cashbox), #2 AC, #3 Italy, #8 Canada (#1 Can. AC), #23 Ireland, #19 Australia

    "Missing You": #1 R&B, #10 Pop, #4 AC, #29 Canada, #1 Can. AC

    "Telephone": #13 R&B, #26 Can. AC

  • And you sound like a cat too --- A stray one. Always criticizing females your life must really suck.LOL

  • First of all, can you believe we used to watch videos this long. I used to like that song back when it was out. Miss Ross is the boss!!!

  • Yimheretoday and Cbann88, what's with all the b1tching? So you hate Diana, fine. But what's the point of all the b1tchy posts under EVERY Diana video? It's pointless. It's not like she's popular anymore anyway, so why do you act like she's such a threat to you? Get over it.

  • Were not bitching were discussing what happened going back down memory lane, and no were not diana haters quite the contrary, and how you could construe that we think she's a threat to us is beyond ridiculus. let me guess you're so young teeny bopper or 20 something with no musical history. this is a discussion board and that's what were doing. so you get over it.

  • I have nothing to get over, only people who are upset like yourself need to get over things. You bash every RCA song Diana released, moaning about how she should've never left Motown...if I didn't know any better I'd swear you were a former Motown exec with the way you're so bitter and mad! I applaud her for taking chances and experimenting. If people didn't experiment, everything would sound the same. In fact, half of her 70's releases all sound alike.

  • The fact of the matter is that by the time Swept Away came out, she was 40 and whether we like it or not, the truth is that female singers seem to have a harder time selling records after that age. That had a lot to do with her poor sales too. And if Motown was so great, how come she still had flops when she went back to them in 1989 with that horrible "Workin' Overtime" album? Berry Gordy obviously made his own mistakes (like letting Diana release that mess of an album).

  • it was this type of material that caused people to not buy her records not so much her age, madonna had huge sells throughout her 40's. Gordy had left Motown by the time Ross released "workin Overtime" a dismal embarrassment. Ross listened to know one but herself and it ended her career.

  • The only reason Madonna's sales have been half decent is because she has a VERY dedicated gay fanbase that will buy any of the crap she puts out. Everything after her "Ray of Light" album has been nothing but a techno/electronic mess. Maybe Diana should have focused more on her gay fanbase and maybe she would still of had sales since gays buy anything it seems. By the time Diana tried to go for the gay market with that stupid "Take Me Higher", it was too late.

  • what are you talking about? diana used to be main stream entertainer now the only ones supporting her career are drag queens, only 130,000 of them bought her last cd, no one else did, so I take it you're a drag queen too MrMagicMoment, probably a dyke in men's clothes.

  • I disagree with this, you're saying that gays are classless and unclean? I guess...Diana Ross has always been conscious of her gay fans and her music reflects that.

  • I work in the music sales and marketing fields. First of all, I know there are many good Gay and Bisexual people in this world and only a small portion of them really favor Diana Ross music.

  • Diana Ross career was not and never has been based on being a gay Icon. Sure a music video or a fashion show -- even a dance record but thats not enough to define her as an artist. Its ok if gays follow her but she will not follow them and you know it! By the way the Rupaul video was really nice. I met him during that time and he was one of her biggest supporters. Diana Ross was quoted as saying men love my lips and Im not talking about gay men either.

  • She doesnt target gay audiences she targets Diana Ross fans Black, White, male, female, young, old, foreign, rich, poor, middleclass. The criticism she got off I love you most gays thought it should have been something else had she done a dance album like Cher it would have been better received by gays- alas that was not her focus how can you not see that?

  • Ross knows that many gays like her - Disco era. She has just as many if not more heterosexual supporters. Concert attendees and historic African American legacy Proves it every time.

  • just saying- my opinion, u seem a tad biased

  • In other words, bias because I "as most human beings" generally have a preference ! THATS NORMAL and most importantly HONEST!

  • so while whitney houston was putting out smash hits like " greatest love of all' "run to you" "saving all my love" to name a few all of which were taylored made for Ross, she refused to work with Micheal Masser who turned to Houston and the rest is history. diana was thrown under the bus and replaced by houston as america's singing diva. Ross was putting out classics like this one an "eaten alive".

  • And how many has Whitney had since she turned 40? None! In fact, she hasn't had a hit since she was 34 (10 years ago). Even Clive Davis hasn't been able to save her.

  • lol, never thought of it that way before.

  • u need to think positive- shes gettin ready to release a new album next month, so obviously SOMEONE could save Whitney

  • Doesn't mean it's going to be a hit.

  • REGARDLESS IF ITS A HIT IR NOT, she got a new album coming out- BOTTOM LINE, SOMEONE HAS SAVED WHITNEY. WHY U GOTTA BE SO GOD DAMN NEGATIVE?

  • Go back to school and learn some grammar - you don't know how to spell or put a sentence together correctly. And why would I waste my time thinking positive about someone I don't care about? I don't wish anything negative for her, I simply don't care. And the better question would be why are you getting all pissed off over something so stupid? GET OVER IT!

  • thats HILARIOUS! You try to change the subject and criticize my grammar -which i dont a flyin fuck if unlike it or not- because i talked you into a corner about Whitney! IT SHOWS HOW IMMATURE YOU ARE BY BASHING SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE THEM! Have fun in middle school, ya dumb fuck!

  • lol i hated middle school

  • Comment removed

  • tru- regardless... it IS a new album

  • now whose being biased? LOL
