@HushOGirl Those muscles allow her to do the powerful dynamic techniques that she is known for. Just look at her and Nastia's movement and you can see that they are very different. Nastia is more flowy and elegant while Shawn is more bombastic and strong.

@lindseylee77 She never said it like that...she was saying that they were getting higher scores than her that week and that she had done better routines in OTHER competitions (meaning not the olympics) so she was trying her best out there to get on top of her game sort of thing.

@wcgymnastics I didnt feel nastias didn't deserve the aa but she did on the beam. and shawn should have got the gold on the aa and silver on beam....But at least they both have a gold.... she does have a great laugh.

@comanecisalto1 Nastia had mistakes...WOW she did. Shawn did not get her starting value that she deserved. Nastia had leg seperations, toes where NOT pointed in the dismount, took a step on her dismount on bars...and thats just bars. On her vault she crossed her legs (other than that that was a perfect vault). Beam was her normal. Floor she crossed her legs, her legs where apart on the double front, she covered up lack of control well but she did not have the same amount of control as shawn

People talk about shawn because shes a sellout. Nastia is low-key becauses shes still TRAINING, whereas shawn decided to go all hollywood. Even Sandra Izbasa (romanian gymnast who beat shawn) turned down some stupid dancing show which she would of been payed 4,000 euros an episode for to keep her dedication for gymnastics. That money could of helped her family a lot, too. Shawn is not a better gymnast than anybody, because she is no longer a gymnast. shes a too-tan pig

I think it's just because she's all-american and many (biased) americans only watch gymnastics during the Olympics only, and Nastia is also half-russian. I'm american but I'm critical and biased towards the russians. But the AA title in 2008 was "World's best code whore for uneven bars" not "Best gymnast in the world" (four of the top five in the AA all had ridiculous bar start values, check their bar scores compared to their other apparatus scores).

@ChainChomp2 If that was true, then He Kexin would have won. The AA competition is four events, not one. Yes, four of the five top AA-ers had high bars scores, but they all competed FOUR events. Liukin had high bars and beam scores, completely nailed her vault, and landed all of her floor passes well without major deductions.

@QueenieQue If not bars the problem was in the E panel judging (as it is today) is that performances with high SVs (esp. bars, beam) are judged with more leniency, really the only provable explanation how Liukin got her bars execution into the 9's for most of the games. I'm not surprised though, that people never talk about all the form deductions she has especially on bars and floor. Even Shawn gets credited for 180 splits on beam because of her SV. If not that then reputation and country...

@ChainChomp2 Perhaps, but out of all the competitors in the AA, I definitely believe that Liukin deserved to win. Biased or not, the US produces some good AA competitors, perhaps only bettered by Russia and Romania. I love Chinese gymnasts, but they are almost always specialists.

@QueenieQue I can't really argued with what happened with the scoring system then because I think she deserved to win considering what actually happened as she didn't make any real mistakes, if there was one competition I wasn't happy with much at all it was the 2004 WAG floor EF, Romanians were definitely upheld as far as E panel judging but they were creepily consistent and completed their jumps and just performed on the day, but Ponor and Sofronie's triple spins were definitely incomplete.

@laltretre Because Nastia was injured in 2007... Nastia beat Shawn on beam in 2007 (and Shawn was overscored in 2008) and in the AA, Shawn and Nastia tied on floor. And Nastia is MILES above Shawn on bars, it's not that Nastia "beat" Shawn.
