One brother accidentally shot another. Using gun negligently not kept away from children by one of parents - gun owner. @sleepypoodle I do not know if you are an American or not, and if you are not it is slightly more excusable. But the right to bear arms is probably the #1 best amendment there is in the united states.
No country would ever think of parachuting down on the west or east coast or anywhere in america for that matter, since the average civilian could shoot them down. even if none of us ever use the gun past training or a shooting range, it is always there intimdating any country who wants to invade

@sleepypoodle Furthermore different states in the U.S. have different people. In quite a few of the states americans are sheltered and therefore even if they own a gun might have no clue how to properly take care of it let alone shoot it. However in a state like Texas where the right to bear arms is one of the most used rights, and it's primary use is in fact to protect yourself from the WILDLIFE, Do you have any idea how many robberies happen in texas? near 0 cuz no ones dumb enough to try.

@sleepypoodle Last story i heard about a man pulled a gun on the clerk in a walmart, and instantly he had 17 guns pointed at him from the civilians around him. Making him instantly drop his weapon and give up his plan to rob the store.
When guns are THAT common it is far safer then it could ever be.
As for banning guns, I will always be able to obtain a fire arm period. So if everyone else was banned from having fire arms and i had an illegal gun, I could rob a store and easily get away with it.

@sleepypoodle I'd also like to clarify I am not an avid criminal nor do i steal etc, But I am intelligent enough to create my own weapons if need be, including both guns that can pass through a metal detector, a normal gun, as well as custom weapons.
But who can't i mean honestly you could google it.
Anyway you can ban guns, but you can't stop people from obtaining / building them. So in the end banning them only puts you more at risk.

@CheeeezPIC I'm American and US is not tough place for me. I'm glad that if someone tries crime against me I can stop him, and I legally have pistol to support my retaliation. Doesn't mean I'll have to kill a person. But it is US that is one of few places where you legally can have gun to use it for self defense.
The gun owner should carry responsibility for negligence. Regretfully, he will be excused (his son hurt), but innocent people: gun owners will be punished by crowd yelling "ban guns!"

Even if our populations were the same there are more in america.
