  • I use ubuntu in the cloud, but LMDE for desktop-computing, as it's light, fast and easy to upgrade. Can we still be friends?

  • @Bornxlo1 Also; is there any reason to change from LMDE to ubuntu?

  • I watched this on my Arch Linux desktop....can we still be friends?

  • watched this on my ubuntu laptop

  • I dont get why there is so much hate on unity o.O

if u guys dont recal, compare unity in 10.10 and 11.10, SIGNIFICANT improvement

Unity 5.0 will be coming out on 12.04 and im sure it will be great

Honestly its just Gnome 3 tweaked to a large extend

  • I'm using Ubuntu in my lap and runs excellent, at the other hand I'm usin Windows 7 in my desktop pc, and sometimes I have a strange feeling going to kick Bill Gates.

  • I am a Ubuntu User.

  • Always people complaining when a change come. Unity is a great step. Need some fixes but is great. Haters are gonna hate.

  • Linux Mint is WAY better than Ubuntu. Its sad Mint isn't as famous as Ubuntu.

  • @YouDontKnowMe071 It's all personal preference. What you like others may not like. I don't like any of these insta-desktop Linux distros, because they're bloated, and it takes a lot to tune them how you want. I like Arch Linux, because once you install it, you get kicked into a prompt with an Empty system, and you only install what you want. This saves a lot of time and Hassle. Debian is also nice, because it is Rock-solid, it has a nice Package system, and is relatively easy to use.

  • Ubuntu Unity is fantastic ! Tank you Canonical !!!!!!!!!

  • I loved Ubuntu pre-version 10.10. I hate Unity. Xubuntu looks like a much better option now.

  • you need to remove the free cd prat

  • Love it

  • @xDubaRx Blender I guess

  • @spitonb4eat Get a life, just because you do not like ubuntu people like me don't need to know

  • @spitonb4eat poor noob.

  • *sigh* This is depressing.

  • Sometimes, when I go to some store with computers available, I get onto one then I open the browser to these ads or to Ubuntu.com I hope I've changed someone's life =)

  • Ze final OS ! no other are necessary !

  • Going to install it right now after using shitty tablet Windows 8 for a few days.

  • better than windows 8

  • Omfg this ad is beautiful

  • Wow ! I hope the high pitched sounds I can hear at the video start will not be the new session opening sound.

  • I still think that ' The Go! Team - Get It Together ' is a better background music then this. (btw if some of you don't know. This video is the one showed at the UDS 2010 for ubuntu 10.10 )

  • Video: Good

    Music: My ears now hurt

    Oh well, can't have everything.

  • @Hax0rPr0n Enter VirtualBox.

  • Two thumbs up for Ubuntu!

  • i love ubuntu ive allways wanted to use linux and ubuntu is simple and easy to use

  • It's a great OS but i don't really like the Non-Premium looks.

  • this video was great, but the last part might confuse some people, it implies that you can just go to your local computer store and grab a CD. otherwise great job

  • @sooparsoup The cool thing is that you can click on that. Mouse over the test to see what I mean.

  • I love Ubuntu, but this animation was probably created in Mac OS X.

  • @KylieMTV So I guess you have not heard of something called Blender? Do yourself a favour and Google Sintel and see what can be done with only open source software :)

  • 1 person uses Fedora

  • MAAN I LOVE THIS BACKGROUND MUSIC....makes me kinda nostalgic ^_^

  • Simply a great video!!

My first guess for the software (if FOSS) would be Blender.

  • which is the name of the background music you hear is, or can you tell me someone knows?? This father and ubuntu video ^ ^

  • In what software do you made this video?

  • @JustRussianGuy after effects (mac + win)

  • What software is used to make these animations?

  • @xDubaRx you can do this in after effects (win + mac)

  • @xDubaRx I would venture a guess that Blender played a big part in the creation of this ...

  • @xDubaRx Could be done in Blender.

  • @xDubaRx probably adobe after effects on windows

  • @xDubaRx closed source of course lol

  • @xDubaRx of course nothing thats open-source

  • @xDubaRx adobe after effects

  • @xDubaRx "Pitivi" or "Kino" of course!

  • @xDubaRx Corel videoStudio Pro! lol

    or Sony Vegas

  • @xDubaRx My company makes animated video demos also. They could use lots of things. The main thing we use is after effects, It takes lots of time and hard study, but it's worth it=)

  • @xDubaRx if they made this on linux (which hopefully they did), it's probably blender.

  • @MetalShreader thx m8 for the info!

I'm new to ubuntu and i'm going to try blender..

  • @xDubaRx Camtasia.

  • Is this video created with Free Software ?

  • @TuxGnome What was the video created with? If you come to know, can u tell me also?

  • These ads are amazing! Well done, guys :)

  • Cool to see an Ubuntu channel, I like the cleanliness of this video :) if they showed off all the features of Linux/Ubuntu a) the average pc user would be a little confused of all the cool features making life easier, thinking wtf is this a pc??? wheres the crashes? just kidding :) And b) the length of the video would be longer than any cinema movie ever made, even if it was only one feature/frame :)

  • Great video ;). Oh someone missed the "Like"-button

  • Ubuntu is great and all, but this video essentially says nothing that wouldn't fit to other operating systems. Except maybe for the "free of cost" part. And remember, people think their operating system is free anyway because they don't have to pay extra when they buy a computer.

Ubuntu has many strengths, also over other Linux distributions. However here we just see the usual bouncy logos.

  • @NOOBZcc yes , but then one need not buy softwares too. except for few special one, all the softwares/apps are available for free from software center, and if needed , one can get the source codes too..

  • @umrangsoiscool Yes, ain't explained in the video tho. The video is a list of animated texts. It doesn't offer more convincing arguments than text would. (Except maybe that it shows that an investment into graphical branding was made, so that some people might take Ubuntu more seriously.) Most claims made could be made by Microsoft and Apple as well.

Don't get me wrong, I use Ubuntu every day, it is awesome. The ad doesn't manage to tell the story though :)

  • @NOOBZcc yes .. can`t disagree.. but they have just started (the channel), hopefully it would get better and they would make videos illustrating the awesome side of ubuntu ,things that got us , use and love it so much.. :) cheers

  • Only 304 views? How sad.

  • Ever since I installed Xubuntu, the only Windows I use are in my living room.
