Yea, usually females with relaxers hair fall out when they deploy. So some go natural to keep from having to cut their hair short. I I cut my hair before going downrange and it grew fast in its natural state and it didn't break or fall out.... Yea so good luck on your deployment and happy hair growing...Oh what are your school dates for airborne school? yea I just got my dates in my ako...I go in April, ugh!!!
I was scared to wear twist because AR 670-1 said something about twisted hair but I have seen a few people with twists and kinky twists. I think it really all comes down to your command.
Congrats on your commission! Airborne sounds like fun. I was gonna do it many years ago until I heard about all the running-LOL
@msfashionmyworld Yea I was too, I looked up the regulation and apparently the interpretation is what makes some command try to ban them. The wording should be changed, since I'm sure it just means dreadlocs when they say twisted styles. Twists are more like braids than locs anyway. I think the more [black] female officers the Army has in command, the more likely there will be change in this area overtime, like what happened in the Airforce. They allow ponytails and dreadlocs over there :)
@ssikmoi88 yea I'm glad I'm not obsessed or anything, if most people just gave it a rest and focused on real life they would see their hair will still be growing regardless of all the extra stuff they do... :)
good luck with everything. you made the army sound so good Im thinking of joining LOL.
Quick questions about the hair. Does your hair get knots? If so, How do you control them? Are you still usig GVP Detangler? If so,is that all you use to condition/detangle your hair after you get out of the shower?
@Unekwu89 Yes, I get knots but only when I wear my hair out (I can't wear afros anymore because it causes too many problems at this length). I switched to Aveda Brilliant conditioner because its all natural and smells better (I do think GVP conditioners are still good). I basically just rinse my hair and put conditioner on it before I put it into a bun maybe every other day or so.
Proud of you girl! You have me missing the Army even more!! I wasn't an officer though, I wanted to go OCS when I was a SSG but my husband at the time didn't think it was a good idea (he was a MSG). Guess he didn't want to salute me..lol Good luck at Airborne school and ohya.... your hair will not fall out when you deploy if you take care of it...I am a two time war vet (Iraq both times). Loved the end!
Please don't cut it. :)

Good to hear from you. All the best. Not doing much to your hair is probably best plus no obessession over growth.x
