  • Thanks for all your comments! I made this and kind of forgot about it and decided to go back and watch it. I'm amazed at how many people have seen this! I made it for a 10th grade project (age 16) and couldn't figure out how to get it to school so I uploaded it here.

  • Stravinsky's a pretty cool guy. Rite of Spring is no doubt his most famous piece.

  • Amazing video - thanks. Amazing to hear hime say the titles in his own voice and describe events that are now of legend...

I will be shlowing this to my studetns.

How old is the original poster?

  • Thank you, that was very, very interesting and pleasurable to watch and learn from.

  • Where did you get the video clips of Stravinsky talking?!?

  • i think the tempos and interpratation of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring is better in the movie Fantasia.

  • Best school project I've ever seen. Very well done!

  • Stravinsky = pure Genius

  • Useful video with great comments!

I'll use it with my students.

    Thanks a lot for posting!

  • thanks. nice to hear composer remembering the day. comments on the solo bassoon and the choreography (insights into what may have disturbed the crowd) appreciated.

  • excellent piece thank you

  • Excellent video! One question about the end: Is it association to STAR WARS? This motive used John Williams to motive of wasteland. If this was purposely it jollify me :)

  • Many composers have been inspired by Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," and in the case of John Williams, he did compose the Dune Sea of Tatooine theme music as a reference to the introduction of Part II in the ballet.

  • yes...which sounds in the end of the video

  • Right, but my main point is that this musical composition has made such an impact in the music world, it's been referenced many times in popular culture, so in answer to your question, the excerpt from the ballet at the end of the video is associated to Star Wars in a way (what with the similar musical motives and all). ;)

  • ah...problem is probably my english..."association" was wrong word...i think it was joke that moving text with this part of music

  • XD ...i love Stravinsky!

  • Great video! It's really interesting to know more about The Sacre. Where did you find those videos of Igor speaking?

  • all this fuss over dance music . . .

  • Ha ha... That's actually one of the funniest comments I've ever read on YouTube.

  • if you got anything less than an A, your teacher doesn't deserve to teach that class. how did you do?

  • This was extraordinary. Thanks for helping me to understand this famous moment in the history of modern dance and music.

  • Thanks for putting this together, finding the Stravinsky interviews was great.

  • Nice. Nederlandse ondertiteling :D But nice short film, with good information.

  • Wow, I've never Stravinsky speak, or conduct. Fascinating! Thanks :)

  • I like it... I'm always interested to find more information on the rite of spring. there's always something new about it. thanks
