i think you can move the "mouse cursor" in the computer by using that tiny little lcd/monitor at the top of the mixer...so no need for holding the mouse ;)...btw, i like the mixin but i don't like the songs that much... ;)
Can you change the tempo on the equipment without touching the host computer and slowing yourself down? Does it have something on the Xponent like a dial or something that allows you to change tracks? I don't have one and I'd love to know these things before I decide to get one. Can the turntables be used for scratching or are they just pitch control?
when i can be bothered ill post a video of me doing a mix with my unit but i wont be using the sync button or even looking at the screen, it will be all ears the way it should be...& yes i will cock up alittle but thats part of it. Big difference between a "DJ" & a enthusiast...
i think too many people obsess over beat matching, whether you use sync, pitch lock, kill switches, or filters, it all doesn't matter if you have a poor choice of songs, and if you don't understand how to feel out a crowd and build up a dance floor. Take it from a 7-year female DJ, i've seen it all, and whatever rocks the party rocks the party.
sorry ppl but sync buttons & on screen BPM matching is not real DJing...maybe u look kool in ur room or ur mates think ur kool & it may even get u laid by some underage girl that just wants to tell her friends she hooked up with a "DJ", but the reality is using these features are for amatures or those who cant beat mix properly. I use torq with my laptop but i dont look at the screen, & if i stuff my mix up so be it - its called DJing! not look at how kool i am...
stop being so cynical lol. Oh what you use a turntable pitch control rather than slowing it down with your fingers??? lol! technology enables us to do these things and more... dont diss or hate man....open your mind, this will bring more possibilities for music in the end the music is what its all about.
my point is there are too many ppl calling themselves "DJs" who wouldnt know what to do if they were given some headphone, a couple of decks (both digital or vinyl), some music, & a dancefloor full of people. I work every weekend both mobile & venue djing (mobile pays much better when u supply ur own rig), & i know DJing is more than sync buttons. Not only the technical skills, but the crowd reading skills which u wont learn in the bedroom making "computer" mixes...
I was a little bitter at first too son, but then I realized that beat matching takes 10 seconds and really is only 2% of DJ'ing. It's OK though if you learn to keep up with tech you can improve the sounds you make! I personally have never used this thing and can't wait to try, vinyls are getting heavy, I'm getting old.
i was pointing out a common "DJ" attitude. i suggest you go back & read my comment again. Do it twice as it seems you may not get it. It is fairly simple though. i didnt make it too cryptic...as for how i "act" u know nothing about me appart from a couple of comments i made here. If im a "whipper snapper" then u must be a geriatric. Run along gramps, this internet is for for ppl as "old" as you...
However I do support you in what you say with using the onscreen BPM measurement doesn't really take any kind of skill or talent. Just remember that it can also be a helping hand in a crucial situation if your own beatmatching fails or you make a mistake and have a few seconds to counter it.
In the end, its all about pleasing the crowd/listeners - they cant hear the BPM counter tick.
wow.. u use sync button.. and u call urself a DJ? get some skill man... infact try mixing without looking at the bpm and without using the sync button, and just with ur ears. its more fun than stupid sync button
well wen it comes to DJing it can be a serious skill... well not like super serious.. but it makes Djing more fun.. and much more worth it.. i mean it would be so boring if all the songs were just synced for u straight away.. it would kinda ruin the idea of DJing and mixing all the songs using ur ears.
well... its doesn't really ruin the idea of djing.. but wat im trying to say is.. he would get more out of it if he was just using his ears.. and not using the sync button
mmm would be nice if there was no laptob involved with Xponent... and u only need=ed to mix with ur ears... i use Xponent.. but id prefer it without laptop
Don't worry son as this video proves syncing is not a serious skill. If you wanted to be critical this guy is so out of phase and his levels and cuts are way off but at least he enjoys music and tries. I am gonna try and find some of your video's to see how a "real" DJ does it.
I am sure that most can't but these things still aren't 100%. I have seen guys not play a track because the BPM calc errors. And the phase errors LOL. But seriously I use this thing early in the night before the croud gets in so I can talk with the regulars.
i would use the sync button if i had it and then make a better adjust with faders and bend, coz i dont like how it is sync'd, you can hear twice the kicks.
anyways i wont use any sync button coz i wouldn't buy a controller like these.

Stop with all the negative crap and just enjoy the "TEST". Also to the guy who uploaded

Dr Munroe said "maybe u look kool in ur room or ur mates think ur kool & it may even get u laid by some underage girl"
Time to start acting 30, whipper snapper, maybe that will prevent people using diminutive language in response.

Do you have a car with servo?
ABS?
If so, you can't call yourself a driver.

ABS is designed to help prevent a potential accident, & save lives. U cannot seriously use that as an example...

Yeah of course you need to use at least 1 ear, but the video isn't intended to prove he is the best old school DJ ever.
drapz77 3 years ago
i wonder if these "digital" djs can mix without a computer & sync capabilities? can u mix off headphones with nothing else appart from ur ears??...
DrMunroe 3 years ago
mmm would be nice if there was no laptob involved with Xponent... and u only need=ed to mix with ur ears... i use Xponent.. but id prefer it without laptop
fathemi 3 years ago
of course you can, just use the pitch fader and dont look at the screen. :)
its just a lot of digi djs tend to be newbies who dont want to learn it the proper way. definitely not all, but a lot.
