This was done before the inaugural revenue service. Pilots were trained on the simulator but the aircraft itself needed to complete certification for CASA, and extra flight training for new crews is always valid. I know this, because I know the guy on board who took this video, he's an FO for V. V itself has a number of former emirates and other airlines 777 captains.
