Yeah, Capcom's had a lot of backlash in the past few months. There's been discussion about this on the Chaos Theater Forum too. As one user put it, it may partially be the fans' fault; Capcom does do fanservice, but when they do, all some of the fans do is bitch and moan (Case in point: Ultimate MvC 3).
You may be pleased to hear this: Mega Man X is one of the games on the games that need sequels co-op countdown I and several others are working on.
