In light of many responses to nzclan, i'd like to point out 1 Corinthians 8:9-13, whether God cares if the pulses of air pressure produce a distorted guitar sound, or a solo voice singing praises, the issue is that as brother/sisters in christ, we should not be trying to force our scripture view on someone, but wrestle through different passages and be "fervent in prayer" about these issues, not attacking and defensive like people of the world.

Why is it that so many seem to cast judgement about how others worship. I believe God warned us about that. This is great contemporary music. Most music was contemporary at one time. Why is 200 year old music any better. I play in a worship band and see people really worship openly to this type of music more so than stuffy traditional hymns.

I used 2 love 3rd Day & most Christian rock until God showed me that I was addicted 2 it. The Lord was gracious 2 burn Matthew 7: 21-23 into my heart. Today I look 2 Him & what He believes is worship & not the world OR the CCM movement. I am sad 4 them as Scripture is specific about what God will do 2 those who make His little ones stumble.

I pray that anyone reading this will seek the Lord. We're not our own, everything we do must glorify Him. This just shows how low we have sunk! :o(

I think that those guys of Third Day reach many people for the Lord. Their songs are not only about worshiping the Lord; they also can encourage other Christians and reach out to others. Maybe the problem is that you put those rock groups above God in your life and that is so wrong! I am grateful that there are guys out there singing Christian songs so that we don't have just the garbage out there. I wish there had been groups like that out there when I was a teenager.

Just because you were addicted to it doesn't make it bad for all people. I agree we shouldn't worship the music, or the musician but God almighty! Where in the Bible does it say not to listen to rock and roll music which glorifies God??? Read Psalm 150 and get back to me on that.

@nzclan I have personally met and spoke in length to the lead singer of Third Day, his name is Mac.  And he has such a heart for the things of the Lord, for worship, and to see the lost saved and brought into the Kingdom. In the Psalms you will see that David used instruments and even dance to please the Lord.

I am going to tell you something. The younger Peoplelike myself, I am 16. I was like you. I only listened to the Gaithers, Tenessee Ernie Ford and Elvis Presley Gospel Music. Now this music is called Worship Music. As long as you sing Christian Music and you show Glory to The Almighty Father, that is Christian Music. These groups have lead many many many young people to God. As long as you Prause God it is good. I alway give honor, glory and Praise to my Father who sent his son to die for me.

My heart aches for the young people of today. We need to give our all to Him. That includes our music tastes. You would do well to have a (3 month min music) fast and allow the Lord to guide you.

It's called fellowship. Fellowshipping with other christians. Your can of coke or coffee can be worshiped. Don't worship the group, just thank God we have them to fellowship with and to praise God. This music sends me to praise with God, not the guys in the band. Same as going to church, it's to fellowship with other believers and to keep us on the right track. Something wrong with that? Not really. Be careful to not get to religious.

God is not a religion, he is our Lord and Savior.

I don't understand what you mean by loophole.. If you mean that by Just feeding the poor or doing good deeds one cannot be saved then we are in agreement. If you do these things from a humanistic point of view and not to glorify God then they are empty.

But I disagree that missions and worship are different. Our WHOLE lives are commanded to be living sacrifices and worship to God. Romans 12, Heb 13:16, Col 3:17

On to worship. As more of an old testament sort of view, as opposed to a more lenient modern view, I see worship as something that goes directly to God. Missions are more of an honor, obediently doing as God wishes.

Debate is the foundation of the Christian church. Unwillingness to debate, which I'm sure you've seen, is its downfall. It is truly an honor to debate with you.

Worship is not simply raising hands to music, and singing praise, it's doing everything for to glorify God, from brushing your teeth to evangelising or whatever. Worship is a 24/7 thing, in light of the God-Man relationship that God fixed.

Perhaps Matthew 7:15-20 would be good here. It's the same chapter making it quite simple for reference. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. There are sweet apples and there are crab apples. Don't judge the sweet apples by the crabs. You'll only make a fool of yourself.
