Awesome Awesome job!!! Loved it!! the only song I could even think of adding to this would be Chevy Van by Sammy Johns. So many great songs from this decade, thanks for helping keep them alive.
@JAZZCLASS70 Space Oddity was originally released in 1969 on Bowie's self-titled album, which was available 'only' in the UK. In 1972, the album was re-titled Space Oddity and released in the US for the first time. The newly-released "Space Oddity" made #15, becoming Bowie's first US Top-40.

"Smoke on the Water" is a song by the British rock band Deep Purple, and released as a single in May 1973.
yea it was fun fussying over this song. I quess we were both right in a sense. The irony is that Dream On is a great song. Bottom line: we both love music. No hard feelings. Best of wishes to you manicgrasshopper.
to manicgrasshopper - You were right - I am wrong. The song was released in June of '73, but only on climbed to no. 59 on the charts, which is probably the reason why I never heard the song. A song that peaks at 59 on the charts is far from being a hit and probably didn't get much radio/airtime. It became a hit in the Boston, MA area, however, on a lesser known radio station. Its a mystery to me why refections of '73 would even play this song considering it wasn't even a hit song. not close.
@kenwayne96 kenwayne: It's been fun sparring with you, but it must come to an end. LoL So, I was right about the release date being '73, but you were right about it's popularity during that year. I would guess it barely rose eyebrows in most cities. The reason I included it on my 1973 Reflections is due to it being listed on a billboard chart I was using. If I had it over to do, I probably would not include Dream On for 1973. I apologize for the misunderstanding. Peace to you.
dude I will concede that this song was released in '73 and again in '76 - but that doesn't mean it was played on the radio. It was probably released on an album that Aerosmith recorded. According to google it was released in '73, but it doesn't say it was released as a single. Again, I am quite familiar with the music of '73. Never heard this song in 1973. I heard it for the first time in 1975. I have no further comments on this subject.
Dude I am one-thousand percent sure (not 99.9999% sure) this song came out in 1975. I remember quite clearly the hit songs of 1973 and this song was not amoungst them. Matter-of-fact I remember being teased by classmates in '75 because of the way I sang this song (Dream On.) I couldn't sing worth a crap but I sang it anyway because I liked the song.
@kenwayne96 Bro, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but once again, Dream On was a 1973 release, and re-released in 1976. If you would have spent 5 minutes researching the release date for Dream On, you could have saved this embarrassment. LoL Aerosmith's own website confirms this fact, as does Songfacts. Check it out.
@beatleloko "Monster Mash" is a 1962 novelty song and the best-known song by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. The song was re-released several times and appeared in the Billboard charts on three occasions after the original release — December 1962, August 1970 and May 1973. =]
i always thought michael damian did the song "rock on" in 1989....i remember it being in that movie dream a little dream....never knew there was another version of the same song...

I graduated High School in 73.....I'm a grandmother now of a 10 yrs old....are these great tunes now considered classic...Ok yes I'm old....Chit...LOL...
Lucky Strike no strike back till you find another pack, slug bug, and I double dog dare you...oh and muscle cars, the real ones...are you really an old "goat"?....I'm an old "pony car"....did you learn the "Palmer Method"? What about "new" math?
Manicgrasshopper thanks for what you're doing / you're missing a lot of the top hits / why not do the best white artists and then songs by the best black artists / the lists of the popular songs by black artists Can be found in the weekly issues of jet magazine / then you can get more songs of each listed / but thanks for what you are doing !
