@synthpathetic I didn't buy the drums myself , a good block is hard found is all I know , look for one with a hollow on it, theres usually two, play it with the hollow part on the top away from you. I think mine was got somewhere in louth though.
I love this and I try to play Ceili music through my DJ PA at functions in NZ as much as possible but find that good bass is the missing factor when it leaves the speakers! I know this might be sacrilege but I think whoever puts good bass input into Ceili will make Irelands music essence be played over more speakers!

if you mean the one with the wooden sound its the wooden block played by the drummer. I know because I play drums with a céilí band.

This band is brilliant,my dad's ceili band played together for 30 years and this band are as good as I have heard anywhere.A joy to listen to.
