  • this is the quality!

  • Buster is the man!

  • What is 0:51 from?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 The Educational Pictures short Grand Slam Opera. If you search it you should be able to find it.

  • @TheCloverGal I got the Educational Picture collection for Christmas but I haven't seen that one yet. Incidentally, what do you think of the shorts he did for Educational Pictures? Not a lot of people seem to know about them and most of those that do don't like them, and they're not as memorable as the COPS chase scene or the outrageous stunts of Sherlock Jr., but I think Buster is STILL very funny in them.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 I enjoy most of them, actually. It makes me sad sometimes when he's stuck with sub-par writing and co-stars, and they're certainly nothing like his own shorts, but you can still see his sparkle and I like to think I can pick out gags he came up with. He had true talent and could make anything he put his hands on good and funny, even if they're not as amazing as his own films. (Not to mention I adore his voice, anyway.) I think they deserve more attention, at the very least.

  • @TheCloverGal The thing of it is Educational Films was supposed to be sort of a return to his original comedy, this was after he had gotten away from MGM and he seemed to have more creative control again. Watching some of them they DO look like they would've worked as his silent shorts and I can't help but wonder if at this point in his career he was actually bothering with scripts, or still just set up camera and start filming stuff?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Well, I'm not entirely sure how much creative control he actually did have with the Educational films. While I don't know how much he was allowed to contribute to the stories and gags, I do know he couldn't spend time on them like he wanted to; all they cared about was spitting a two-reeler out, not make a piece of art like he did.(Whether he'd admit it or not!)

Makes one wonder what he could have done if they gave him as long to work on them as he wanted...

  • @TheCloverGal True but one thing about Buster, once he got out of MGM and once he started putting his life back together, it didn't always seem to matter to him what he did, so long as he stayed busy and kept working. He doesn't get credit for all the Spanish and German movies he did and dubbed over one line at a time, now that would keep somebody busy, and it got to a point he could speak one's language with another's accent. Keeping busy kept him going.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 You're absolutely correct. If he wasn't working he felt unwanted, according to Eleanor at least. And really, he never did stop working.

  • @TheCloverGal And if you think about it, in a sense it's kind of a good thing he got screwed by MGM and his first wife. Biggest disguise a blessing could wear I know, but think about it, if she hadn't taken him for all he had and he was a big success and a millionaire off his films like Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd...well, they made millions when he only made $2,000 a week, and he pointed out he was still working and happy when they had retired and become recluses.

  • Amazing! Love B.K. so much

My 15 yr. old just discovered him and can't get enough - there is hope for the universe.

  • @tgreywolfe1 Good for him/her, I think I was about that age when I first saw him too...at that time I didn't get the big fascination Buster, I was more into the whole of the silent comedies, but he is my favorite these days.

  • Que NIVEL!!!!!! el mejor artista- Desde él, todo lo demás.No hay que olvidarlo.

  • Truly, the best!

  • What's 4:43 from? The one with the lion?

  • @WaffleXmonster13 Three Ages

  • @unepetitecolombe Thanks!

  • Amazing! This may have been said before, but it looks like Buster Keaton invented break dancing.

  • 0:24 What film is this from?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 ALL of them!

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Coney Island

  • @lazybones2000 No, the one before it, when he jumps on the man.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 That was from The Three Ages, when he gets scared after the waiter serves him a whole crab.

  • I LOOOOOVE that man, he risked himself so many times just to entertain the likes of us for generations to come. Happy 116th birthday, Buster!

  • The man looks like he's made of rubber.

  • I have never seen any tumble quite like Mr. Keaton.

  • What's not known in this is that he broke his collarbone, neck, and almost drowned during some of these takes of stunts he thought up and executed all himself!

He was cinema's first true dare devil stunt man

  • And he did it all with minimal special effects OR changing expression!

He choreographed most of his performances himself. A unique talent -- we'll never see his like again.

  • @YouzTube99 according to people what knew him,he was still smiled in real life,he smiled and laughed very easy on everything...

  • @bibi5027: Good point! By all accounts (with the exception of his ex-wives and girlfriends) he was a delightful guy. Check out this vid in which he kibitzes at bridge and signs autographs for a group of children -- " . . . the neighborhood kids ask if Buster can come out to play" -- tells us a lot about the man:

  • Haha, that's very funny and very cool!!

  • What was the movie from 4:19 to 4:25??? I love Buster I'm just having a brain fart!!

  • Oh, I laughed till I cried watching this! Thanks so much for creating/sharing it!

  • this is awesome!!! :D would it be alright if I made a Chaplin one to go to this song?

  • LMAO at 3:07. That was cool! :)

  • Inigualable

  • Un genio.. Nada más... Un ejemplo para imitar por los actores comicos y una verguenza para quienes no se esfuerzan en perfeccionar sus habilidades actorales

  • Elcatirion-where did you get this music! I would like to put it on my Ipod! Thanks!

  • There's an obscure juggler from Dallas that could do justice to Buster. He's even got precisely the right build. But I fear that by now he's too old. :(

  • that was the funniest thing i have ever seen

  • Top 5 favorite BK films:

    "The General"

    "Steamboat Bill, Jr."

    "Sherlock Holmes, Jr."

    "Seven Chances"

    "The Cameraman"

(In no particular order, although I would say "The General" is my favorite)

  • Buster Keaton and Bruce Lee were Jackie Chan's two big influences, according to Chan

  • This video demonstrates every reason why Buster Keaton is Awesomeness Incarnate.

  • un vrai talent!!!

  • Numero Uno...

  • Love Buster! So amazing that he had no stunt doubles! What movie was 1:50 from?

  • @Gorseheart I think it was Go West.

  • @Hypatia4242 Thanks!

  • @Gorseheart "go west"

  • Incredible...... watching this makes me want to vomit into the face of Michael Bay

  • I actually prefer Keaton's subtle stoicism to Chaplin's exaggerated expressions. Not that one is better than another; I just love that Buster can get into the most absurd situations and never lose his composure.

    He's just... plucky. :D

  • Still gut busting funny 45 years after he died!!!

  • holy crap, that was awesome.

  • I KNOW!

  • those are all grate movies

  • This is the video that got me started. I am proud to say that I have now seen every movie this guy has made up until he went to MGM. He's incredible. Great video.

  • what are the songs used in this video

  • @jayorteg713

one of the songs is Tritsch Tratsch Polka by Johann Strauss

  • @chaussee123 of course the Can Can goes without saying

  • 1;59

  • 3:22 and 3:57... wich films?

  • Bloody briliant.

  • Buster Keaton is the MAN. He did all his own stunts, you know?

  • the unbreakable man...

  • Keaton stated on the vaudvillestage at age 3, billed as a midget wit ha false beard, his fathr would toss him around to break funiture and things to great laughs, Buster prided himself on studying and learning how to fall, and make a show show of it. that with his dead pan expression is wht he is known for best.

  • Love this video, I added to my favourites <3

I made a little drawing inspired by Buster Keaton, if you have time check it out, it's on my website :)

  • Jackie Chan is the only person I can think of who's comparable, in his athletic ability, to Keaton. Jackie spent his entire childhood in rigorous acrobatic and martial arts training, and Keaton spend his entire childhood in (less formal) physical training from being thrown around by his dad on the stage. So both of them started very young and had years of practice. I think they're both amazing, although I am personally fonder of Keaton.

  • splendorous

  • Does anyone know what movie the drill move at 2:05 came from?

  • 2:05 comes from 'The High Sign', where Buster gets a job at a shooting gallery. I just watched the whole thing on youtube last week. I'm pretty sure you can find it easily, but if you have any trouble, let me know.

  • I wish someone would put 'Doughboys' on here. I noticed there are a couple of clips from it on this.

  • could you put a download link to the original please?! :D

i love this clip and i'd like to preserve the quality of the video ;;)

  • buster keaton is the favourite actor of jackie chan

  • Like the saying goes "often imitated, never duplicated".Every imitation is just that, and often painfully self-conscious.Plus Buster had that beautiful face that made the women fall for him then and still has the same effect.

  • @devsie22

Dead Pan is a theatrical term.

Buster Keaton had a reputation for displaying Know emotion on his face, What-so-ever (Dead Panning)

So hense, he became known in the Movie Industry as "Stone Face"

Not very complimentory I know. But Buster "Stone Face" Keaton stayed with him through out his career.

    Don`t ya just Luv `im !

  • Really great!

  • this video is beautiful, congratulations to those who put him, and especially to those who did. Congratulations indeed, I never tire of seeing him.

  • E' bellissimo questo video, complimenti a chi lo ha messo, e soprattutto a chi lo ha fatto. Complimenti davvero, non mi stanco di vederlo.

this video is beautiful, congratulations to those who put him, and especially to those who did. Congratulations indeed, I never tire of seeing him.

  • 1:56 WOW!

  • I remember hearing about the scene with the water tower/tank @ 4:12.

Buster broke his neck against a railroad track but.....didn't realize it until years later!!!

(and to think that Stallone thought he was tough just because he got a hairline fracture in his neck on the set of his lastest film).

Oh yeah, Buster was institutionalized, but would escape from the straight-jackets all the time.

  • Eat your heart out Jackie Chan!

  • I LOVED!!

  • I never get tired of watching it.

  • Buster makes intense pain and life-risking stunts look like tremendous fun

  • Genius!

  • is funny

  • i like this vid but dont really remember him ... in which film was he in?

  • woooow. one of the most famous silent movie stars of all times... what was he in?

  • The horse part's amazing hahaha. XD

  • no actor today would be brave enough to do what he did.

  • Two words: Jackie Chan. (Who wanted to be like Buster when he grew up.)

  • @MrLawrenceV dude what about Jackie Chan?

  • @MrLawrenceV Actually, not to take anything away from Buster, but Jackie Chan has come close in several of his. I wouldn't be surprised if Buster was an influence of Jackie's.

  • @MrLawrenceV Also, though he is gone from us, I'd also put Danny Kaye up there too.

  • @MrLawrenceV jackie chan!!!!!

  • @MrLawrenceV not "just" for laughter, no. ;)

  • You did a brilliant job.

    I love Buster Keaton :)

  • bravo

    genius video. well done

  • Fun video!

  • Wonderful! The man was a genius!

  • Buster also was very involved in the technological end of film making and is considered to have had a strong influence on early film making and directing.

People don't like Buster don't know Buster.

  • stone face, rubber body !!!

  • EPIC!!! 1:25

  • Buster is my great great great great great uncle :)

  • my great uncle is 80. so no way in hell could buster be your greatgreatgreatgreatgreat uncle because that like going 200 years

  • Buster Keaton is the greatest ever. Why insult everyone by remaking what shouldn't be remade? Re-release everything he ever did onto the big screen and let countless numbers discover his unique and unmatched greatness.

  • Keaton did all of his own stunts.

  • I do not want to pay his medical expenses!

  • this is great , love it and i to can watch over and again

  • I can never get tired of this. I watch it again and again and again, sometimes three, four, five times in a row, laughing myself silly every time and just filled with awe.

  • in chior we have to sing words to this song

  • jim carrey.. talvez, no siento q haya otro comico como para hacer el papel de buster keaton, como robert downey jr. hizo el de charles chaplin y eso que RB jr. no es comico... no c m ocurre otro actor por ahora

  • If Hollywood ever makes a movie about Buster Keaton's life how many of you would like to see Jim Carrey as Buster Keaton.

Remember Jim Carrey is a rubbery face high energy comic genius.

so how many of you would like to see Jim Carrey as Buster Keaton If Hollywood ever makes a movie about Buster Keaton's life. I know I would. Jim Carrey is the perfect comic genius actor to play Buster Keaton. If so please reply to my comment or send me a persional YouTube message. Thank You.

  • Its a nice idea but Carrey's too tall. and hes not athletic enough, keaton had to be so physically fit to be able to do all his stunts. plus keaton was famous for doing everything with no expression on his face at all (hence his commedy being called "dead-pan"), Carrey is famous for making silly faces.

I love jim Carrey but he's notright for the job. I cant think of anyone who would be. i recon the only person in the history of film who could play keaton is, funilly, charlie chaplin...

  • @devsie22 Yeah, if anybody was to play Buster I'd nominate a virtually unknown juggler named Rob Williams, from Dallas. He is short, athletic, agile, handsome, and personable. Perfect for the part. Though they'd have to un-age him to play a young buster.

  • @devsie22 Jim Carrey might have been good about thirty years ago. He used to be really athletic; he did a lot of his own slipstick stunts. Plus, he did a great job of getting into the character of Andy Kaufman.

Now he's older, though, and he's trying to get into serious work. Plus, nothing is ever as funny as the original.

  • Jim Carrey isnt as likeable. He is annoying in his comedic roles. ESOTSP was OK.

  • Very Nice. Thanks For Sharing!!!

  • BK is the greatest Idol of Jackie Chan !

  • There are still a couple of clips I can't identify -- dangling from the chandelier in his underwear, dancing with the girl he dumps on the floor... Actually most of the dancing.

  • @ubermom I think the chandelier-dangling clip is from his 1941 short 'General Nuisance'. It's a rehash of a gag in 'Doughboys'.

In the other clip he *is* the girl that is dumped on the floor. That clip is from 'Doughboys', where they're putting on a show for the rest of the troops.

  • @ubermom -Buster is the girl in that scene

  • Keaton did all of his own stunts.

  • That front of the house that fell on him and through himreally weighed a few tons. If he was just an inch or two over the wrong way, he would have been killed.

    Wow!

  • absolutely magnificent! yeah, i think he was pretty cute too! what an amazing talent he was-----it's a shame a lot of people don't know more about him. thanks so much for posting this video--makes me smile!

  • He had guts!

He had beautiful eyes, and I thought he was handsome!

  • It's amazing what he could do and come away unscathed! Jackie Chan might have been inspired by Keaton, even! His expressionless "stone face" gives him a sort of "just another day for me" kinda vibe.

  • He was and mentioned Keaton in a book he wrote.

  • See? I didn't even know that I could instantly see the connection! XD Well, a lot of people (and certain robots with names that start with 'W') have been inspired by Keaton.

    \8-D

He's like a living Norman Rockwell character!

  • how good is 1:58

  • Amazing montage for an amazing man. Now somebody needs to do one that includes the kisses -- like when he throttled Marion Mack before kissing her, or (best of all!) the wrestling liplock with Charlotte Greenwood in "Parlor, Bedroom and Bath".

  • There was one by the same person who posted this a while ago. I believe it was called Buster Keaton Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman, but I haven't been able to find it now. It was done to the Bryan Adams song and was excellent as is this one.

  • Want another good video? Try : BK Dont Bring Me Down (done to ELO's music.) It's good also.

  • Buster is so cool. Always imitated never duplicated.

  • one of the true masters of comedy

  • 4:10 he broke his neck doing this one and didn't even realise until a doctor checkup several years later when the doctor askd when he'd broken his neck. Lol

  • 1:56 I always did like this clip where he flies off screen holding onto a car. Lol

  • This is so funny !!! Nothing like the crap we see today!!!!

  • by far the best buster keaton compilation on you tube!!! thank you so much for sharing this, laughed from start to finish!!!!!

  • guffaw! dese here some fine clips. YA SEE?

  • He was a genius.

And i'm named after him :)

  • 1:58 Still amazes me. How did he do it without getting seriously hurt?
