They know what you are doing when on there :)) some cats come running when their favorite human is in the bathroom and "do their business" in community, so they definitely get what the toilet is for. Then they appreciate cleanliness - they see it drops in a hole, in water, so it won't smell and need to be buried. So imitation for many is in good reach

intellectually without "training" them. If the cat won't imitate herself, i suppose you could try such measures (I doubt it will necessarily make a cat who does not have the curiosity of trying the toilet to really use it - either she gets it or she doesnt, from my experience)

We had a cat that my mother taught how to use the toilet years ago. It was more so based on the independent cat rather than ALL cats. I assume its probably the same for Savannah's. We tried doing this with 3 other cats we had and it failed. Sam protocal even tried different strategies, they would use it when they wanted.
