Yeah brilliant song... it's waking me up on this lazy Sunday. Have u also listened to Water Flea by P. and Takemura? It escaped remarks by now but it's worth listening to it. Very touching!
You know this guy is one of those artists I listened to a little of years ago and then just put it down and forgot about it, only to dig it back up today and check out all of his releases and a lot of this is instant buy for me, love it so much. Why did I put it down so long ago? Missing out on so much great music.
Did you check out the track by Purusha & Takemura? Kind of a different style but very nice nonetheless (it's here on youtube and on bandcamp, "Water Flea" by Purusha & Nobukazu Takemura)
POINTLESS?... watch it until you think that the message here is people need to live in symbiosis with nature and the greed of a few can destroy all beauty and bounty for all the rest that would be the happy citizens of earth
This was the first Takemura track I stumbled upon some years ago. Still love the cut up rolls and overlaps of sound. Also fun to hear the old electro breaks being used to effect. Much fun!
hope this is a joke! would be a good one, cause it's ridiculous to congratulate yourself. I mean shit, Afrika Bambataa is from NYC, not Africa. Amon Tobin is not based in South America- I had no idea he was originally from there. most of those use English as their language and aim their music at a N Am/W Euro indie audience more than anything. Nobukazu is the LEAST like that, which still isn't saying that much. so pitiful to have *only* him to represent the music of Asia, half the world's pop..
Good taste in music. But, most of the music that you are referring to has more a sound originating from Europe and the United States, as that is where the IDM/Electronica genre originated from decades ago.
Try listening to more ethnic music like Ravi Shankar, for example. Then, I will be more impressed. In today's age there is not much anything out of the ordinary about listening to music simply wrote in other continents. Most people do, perhaps without even thinking about it.
It's the video for Sign, which comes with the Sign EP (highly recommended btw...there's a great remix called "Meteor" as well as a huge Tortoise/Nobukazu collaboration track...30 minutes of surprisingly well structured bliss.)
LSD? actually the first time i heard this song, i actually pictured something like this. he's pretty good, a mix of japanese folk, glitch, jazz, and pop. yum.
This beats Lady Gaga any day
