i grew up into a christian family as well. and it was like normal for me reading the bible, singing all those christian songs and praying. but i just did it & took it for granted. and then i started realizing there has to be more. and then i started praying with putting my heart in it.

and one night i was praying with tears to god to show me that he's there.

and suddenly i started laughing so hard, i couldn't help. i had to laugh into my pillow cause i couldn't stop! it was awesome!

That's a wonderful decision. Mcguck offered some very good advice in his video response and I would encourage you to take heed of that. Also, and please don't be offended, but you many want to pick a copy of the Idiots Guide to the Bible. It's a guide you can use as you read the Bible and it doesn't just offer you one opinion about meanings but rather several views and let's you make up your own mind as you go.

Definitely go to youth group on a regular basis as well as a solid Bible teaching church and there are lots of good Bible teachers right here on You Tube, who cover a multitude of subjects. You can even check out mine if I may plug my own ministry here.

But most important is take time to have alone time with God. Time that you spend reading his word and talking to him just you'd talk to your best friend. Because that is exactly what he wants to be. Yes he is your Lord and your God, but he also wants a personal relationship that will take you beyond the dry ritual of just serving a religion.

Finally, give yourself plenty of time and don't be impatient with the process of growing in Christ. You can expect to spend at least a year or two just gaining a solid understanding of the foundational issues. Don't get hung up on the fact that you struggle with sin. If you didn't you wouldn't need Jesus. God wants your heart. Give him that and he will lead you into holy living.
