I remember that day like it was yesterday. I saw the news in the late afternoon in Los Angeles -- and I watched the "Lucy" news into the night. Including the 9pm broadcast on CBS with Dan Rather.
@bogadea; I read "A Book", which was an autobiography written by Desi Arnaz. Desi was so much more than a comedic genius. He convinced Dr. Karl Freud, a renowned cinematographer, to come on board and develop the technology that would allow cameras to be able to film the "I Love Lucy" shoe before a live audience...... at basic union scale during I.L.L.'s first year. The concept of filming such shows before live audiences was one that Desi was constantly told could not be done.
they were all magic everyone cared when people passed away no matter who they were, I thought that was jerry lewis he looked different there, pat sajak looks like the same now lol weird
What a bittersweet life for a talented woman. What a woman indeed. I was 20 when Lucy died, and I'll never forget the moment they announced it. It truly was end of an era. Thanks to Lucy and Desi's desire to love each other and have a family, we will always have that wonderful show in our lives. It will probabably go on forever. Lucy suffered plenty of heartache, but what a legacy she left. A life well lived, and time well spent on this earth. Thanks, Lucy.
I was 20 years old when Lucy died. I cried my eyes out. I was studying to be an actor at that time and even though I probably wouldn't get to work with her I had always wanted to meet her. When she died it was like the end of and era.
Lucille Ball was always making us laugh and was a sweet and very couragous woman. She always gave 110% when she did comedy. My mom grew up loving her as a child and I have seen re-runs of I Love Lucy, Dean Martin Roasts, etc. Lucy we love you and we miss you.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to know that someone your age feels that way, I'm 21 and I personally don't know anyone as young as I am that watches let alone appreciates I love Lucy which is so sad. So it makes me happy to know that there are others even younger that are just getting to know and love Lucille ball and there for helping keep her memory alive. So good for you!!
I completely agree! I have been watching Lucy for the past 8 years non-stop! I adore her, Own everything that's out that has anything to do with her, And Im only 17 years old. I adore her and miss her so.

I cried when she died. I also know that 40 years from now we will still be watching I Love Lucy . We won't be watching much of what they show today.
