@TOURNEOMAN A selfish bastard decided that he wanted to end his life so he chose to park his car on a rail crossing. The train hit it at 90mph. IIRC, a dozern or so people died including the trains driver Mr Stan Martin after his cab was filled with track ballast, scooped up as it slid on its side.
@WESTMIDLANDSGIRL2K11 IT IS FUCKIN SELFISH WHEN YOU TAKE DOWN 5 OTHER INOCENT PEOPLE YOU RETARD!! He directly caused the death of 5 people on that train. Was that nescessary ??? No, ofcourse it fuckin wasnt. Did they deserve to die because one guy wanted to kill himself ?? No, ofcourse they didnt. He was a selfish mindless bastard- end of.
You've dug ya self a big enough hole already, think I'd leave it there if i were you!
Fuck my ole boots theres some stupid people on here!
@WESTMIDLANDSGIRL2K11 So, let me get this right. You think im an idiot now, just for pointing out your ignorance and blatant stupidity in saying that the guy wasnt selfish for directly causing the deaths of 5 inocent people on a train???
The Effect Of A Train Hitting A Car Is The Same Effect As A Person Stepping On A Empty Coke Can. The Trains In The US Have A Thing Built Into The Engine So If A Train Hits A Car The Loco On The Train Automatically Shuts Down.
I think as far as possible they're trying to remove level crossings anyway for obvious reasons - the original Airdrie-Bathgate line had quite a few but the newly reopened one doesn't have any.
@tonyphillips1984 The car driver which caused this crash was worse than a "Knob head" I'd describe him as a "selfish cunt" this was no accident, it was a suicide... but why he had to take so many innocent people with him....
which crash is pictured above? I remember 3 with HSTs being involved. Southall crash, Ladbroke Grove and Ufton Nervet. If im wrong, feel free to correct me.
The guy commiting suicide probably thought the train wouldn't derail ,all depends on the speed of the train if this had been a class47 hauled service then there is a strong possibility the train wouldn't of derailed. The design of the HST power car caused it to lift up slightly most probably but then i'm only guessing.
You guessed wrong, there was, and is a set of points immediately after the crossing, one portion of train went one way, the other portion another. The power car seen here is the bak power car.
good advert ++, pple should b fined severely if caught going through red lights at level crossings , the penalty currently standing is just not enough to put pple off doing it , il report anyone i c doin it so watch out !
Maybe bosses should accept that level crossings are still here to stay and people are bound to be held up! That's unless they remember exactly what times the trains go past so that they can avoid it!
I've been to many collisions on level crossings including Ufton. I was one of the people there that had to pick up the pieces afterwards.
None of the adverts fully show the destructive power of a collision. If they want a hard hitting advert they should show real footage of the aftermath of these cretins' actions.
i think it would be the same. hitting a car only causes a minor derailment (the front bogie usualy comes a cropper). The problem with the Ufton Nervet crash (in the pic) was after the train derailed it ran over some points which sort of made it worse
quite right, the sad thing is that 50 years ago we had the rail network that we need today. typical short sighted bloody-mindedness, they ripped up all the track, bridges etc and built on the trackbeds almost immediately after they were closed. so frustrating. but then cars are more profitable for the treasury I suppose, so why invest in the railway?
That selfish gay bastard killed a little girl in that crash and her mum, how the fuck do you tell her dad she won't be alive for Christmas? Maybe he should have moved to Bridgend then hung himself like those pathetic teens that nobody really cares about. Well I don't. Shortly after this crash, I was working on some Network Rail building projects supplying fencing to facilitate new safety barriers to be installed by LCs all over the SW region.
Less of the gay bastard please, just selfish bastard will do. I will let someone from Bridgend respond to the bit about the pathetic teens. Then perhaps, if you don't care about those pathetic teens, maybe that makes you selfish.
i know the train manager and the buffet host and a passenger that was on the ufton nervet crash, they survived. I give my thoughts to Driver Stan martin who did not. To think Train Drivers risk their lives everytime they drive a train, because anything could happen. people that use trains to kill themselves dont think about the aftermath, just because someone wants to die doesnt mean they have the right to take other people with them.
That was a very selfish way to commit suicide, from the Ufton Nervet Crash this photo was taken. A similar accident happened nr my house, luckily it was a mail train so no passengers!
Nice one 47822!!!. Driver Stan Martin WAS a friend, near neighbour (Teignmouth) and colleague of mine. We worked together at Saltley and when he moved to Teignmouth we'd drink in the Brass Monkey and talk about our days at BR's premier depot. Well, that's all in the past and as mentioned lets not forget the passengers whose lives were lost. Including the young girl who died but whose father survived. must be terrible.

Or Anjanette Rossi who's 9 year old daughter was killed. Or, the family of 14 year Emily Webster. You want any more??

This guy committed suicide killing the train driver and many passengers, how sad this is that so many died or were injured
by a selfish man. An express traveling at full speed 125 mph
cannot pull up like a car.
