  • @DigitalJMusic Het makkelijkste is mijn video "How to DJ with Ableton Live - Setup from A to Z " te bekijken, daarin wordt het uitgelegd. Succes ;-)

  • GReat sTuff!

    zubb'd

  • which make and model are the speakers?

  • @bernabeu56 M-Audio Studiophile DSM2

  • @DJMartijnKuilema Nice video! :D

  • hell yeah dude thats awesome keep it coming

  • You remind me of Fedor Emelianenko lol

  • @huhjustin I looked him up. My nose is a lot bigger ;-)

  • Nice tunes man. What were you doing on the right of the controller? Sounded like pitch bending? How do you do that in ableton?

  • @triplah You can make a pitch bend out of the Frequency Shifter effect using its Fine control for pitching up or down. Good luck.

  • @DJMartijnKuilema Excellent. Thanks a lot for the response!

  • NICE mr Bold, ! regards from peru

  • Very good!!!)

    MOTU UltraLite-mk3 ? :)

  • @IV22j Yes!

  • Hey Dj MartijnKuilema! Nice song by the way! I've two questions for you;

    Are you from the Netherlands?

If you are, will you please contact me for tips and tricks?

    Thanks

    Dj Zeferis

  • @DjZeferis Yes I'm from the Netherlands ;-) Kan je me een mail sturen via mijn kanaal?

  • where I can get some track like this.??

  • @666cHaMpY666 Best changes are at Beatport, at the TechHouse section. Good Luck.

  • This looks perfect for live gigs or a bit of mixing when high :) pretty fluid style man! Cheers

  • ke buenasz mezclasz

  • Dr. Evil!

  • Nice Setup.

  • EL MUSICON!!1

  • do you need external music card

  • @Togniaka you need an ASIO audio interface with 4 mono (or 2 stereo) outputs. Most of the time this is an external one indeed. So yes ;-)

  • What speakers you got??

  • Very Good, I like it very much!!

  • very good ;D

  • Do you have to prepare your set before playing it on Ableton Live?

  • @jeffsolis You can chose tracks on the fly. Just PFL/Cue a possible track on the headphone and if it sounds good mix it in. The tracks themselves must be prepared (warped).

  • @jeffsolis To answer your question it depends on what you want to do. In short, the answer to your question would be no. Although if you have plans on jumping in the middle of the track then you would have to pre setup the track accordingly (which is very common in mashup mixing)

  • Thanks for the sounds friend :)

YouTube is hier geweldig in.

  • Um, I really don't know, I doesn't have a brand. I received it as a gift.

  • what laptop stand are you using

  • Do you recommend the MOTU Ultralite? I'm undecided between the MOTU and Apogee Duet... I don't think that there will be a huge difference in sound quality, but MOTU is more helpful because of it's inputs and outputs, so what can you say about MOTU's sound quality?

  • @djmigra Hi. Yes I can recommend it. It sounds very good (we also use it in the studio) and the control software it comes with is cool.

  • @DJMartijnKuilema how is it on vocals

  • buebisima session..

  • Hi martijn, which effect are you using on the 4th slider from the right?

Have you got a seperate bass channel that you effect with that?

  • @bedbug86 Hi, that slider is controlling the Beat Repeat effect. it doesn't only affect the bass frequencies but the mid's and hi's aswell. Check my video watch?v=JqJcHCWqRhE how to set up the Beat Repeat effect. Cheers

  • Why did you decide on the vestax vs. the apc40?

  • @BradRamsay Very simple. The Vestax is much more of a DJ mixer then the APC 40 is. On the Vestax each channel has its own knobs. On the APC you first must select a channel before controlling it, which is not great when you're doing fast fader and knob tricks as a DJ.

  • @DJMartijnKuilema Thanks brah <3

  • @DJMartijnKuilema I agree with this! I'd prefer Vestax for DJ live performance, and APC40 for Studio use

  • Nice setup and good tracks. Its nice to see sombody not just twisting knobs and making noise with Ableton and letting the music play a bit.

  • Great mix, great track selection, great set-up. Do you have a the mapping available for the vestax?

  • thank you martijn for the answer y have a motu hybrid too. but i´m already runing on win xp :(...and i am waiting to pass to mac world with better sound aplications.

  • @DJXAVISARANGA Mac rules ;-) Good Luck!

  • hi martijn! very loving all of these mixes of you. if you would be so kind, either in comment or message... how do you cue with ableton and this mixing style you have? is this the audio interface and how is this working? thank you so much and peace and love to you my new dutch friend! - biz

  • @100010011100 Hi. Your audio interface needs 2 stereo outputs which you can assign in the Ableton preferences. 1st output goes to the master (1/2) and the 2nd output (3/4) is used for the Cue. Now the solo buttons are automatically changed to cue buttons, so you can preview/cue over your headphones.

  • 1 question. What monitors are you using?

  • @DJXAVISARANGA HI, these are the M Audio Studiophile DSM-2's. Digitally connected. Great monitors! Thanks for stopping by.

  • hi, this is amazing, its great, i need to ask, wich tracks did you use, cuz i love them xD !!! cheers please answer here !!!

  • @Ferdinandbozulich

    Ok here it goes!

    TRACKLIST:

1: Nic Fanciulli - Feed The Freezer (Original Mix)

2: Born to Funk feat. MC Cupid - You Rock Da House 2009 (BTF 2009 Deepah Dub)

3: Toolman - Gold Bunny (Original Mix)

4: Sweet - Devil (Original Mix)

  • really lovely mix:)

  • Hey there ! Very good work :) And very solid set you've got there !

Tell me, which mixer are you using ? Maybe I'll get that one ;) Cheers!

  • @velodabig The mixer is a Vestax VCM 600 MIDI controller mixer, it controls Ableton Live 8 and my own made effects.

  • Wow heavy set!!! Just want to ask how you set up Beat Repeat effect?

  • @jasonjsl Thanks: Just watch my Making Ableton DJ effects rack- M Lovers DJ FX rack -Part 1 video where you get it explained at 3:15

  • Nice vid. What effect have you got on Send A?

  • @LawrenceHill2010 Hi, that's the Beat Repeat effect, of Ableton itself, with my own settings.

  • what do you need to use ableton live at a club?

  • @markybotsz Hi, well you need:

    Laptop with Ableton Live

Audio interface with 2 stereo outputs (1 for master out, 1 to use as headphone PFL in Live)

    Headphone

MIDI controller, like the vestax VCM-600

  • Hi... Love the set up! i also have a VCM, What stand are you using there... I'd love to know. thx

  • @darrenspiers2003 You're not the first to ask over here ;-) The laptop stand for the Vestax is just a plain simple brand-less stand which is in a 30 degrees angle.

  • put a smile on my face.CHEERS... too much roll, subtle would be sweeter :)

  • Ok everybody, here it goes!

    TRACKLIST:

1: Nic Fanciulli - Feed The Freezer (Original Mix)

2: Born to Funk feat. MC Cupid - You Rock Da House 2009 (BTF 2009 Deepah Dub)

3: Toolman - Gold Bunny (Original Mix)

4: Sweet - Devil (Original Mix)

  • tracklist pls ;-)

    smooth and nice mix

  • very nice mix..but pls i need a tracklist so badly pls ;-)

  • That setup looks so cool with the mixer tilted up like that!

    ~DJ Vince

  • very smooth set! what effect do you have mapped to that fader you use in the very beginning?

  • @RobitFactory: Hi, thanks for the complement :-)

The fader you'r talking about is controlling the Beatrepeat effect in Live. You can watch my "Martijn Kuilema: DJ with Vestax VCM 600, Ableton Live 8 Part 2" video how to set this up and use it.

    Cheers.

  • Hey Martijn,

    Big ups to u.

Wat doet die MotU voor jou?

    Groeten.

    Checkin' Dimpelman

    Groet Martijn.

  • Hey, would you recommend the Vestax 600 with the Launchpad? I'm looking to DJ but also produce phystrance/trance and performe live.

  • Also, what Stand are you using on the Vestax 600?

  • @IntellDevice: In fact, you can play clips with the buttons above each fader, and play a horizontal rows of clips all at once by pressing down the 'scene select rotary knob' which is on the far right below on the Vestax. So for me it's no problem to launch clips with the Vestax itself. I don't miss a Launchpad.

The laptopstand for the Vestax is just a plain simple stand which is in a 30 degrees angle.

    Good Luck!

  • Hi m8! i am just a beginner in mixing, and dunno what to do..

Buy 2 decks or try ableton?

Which one is easier for a begineer?

    thx:)

    I like your mix:)

  • @wolvesolguard: Hi mate. I would first go for getting to know the Pioneers CDJ 1000's. You find them in all the clubs now. If you can spin with them you can deejay everywhere without any problem. Otherwise if you brought your Ableton gear and something goes wrong with it you can always transfer to the Pioneers and finish your set on them. So my advice is first the Pioneers, then Ableton.

My order was: Technics, Pioneers, now Ableton.

    Good luck!

  • @DJMartijnKuilema

  • Hello to everyone, nice set and mix ! I would like to ask if someone can help me...I have a Motu Ultralite MK3 card and i'm tryin to connected on my "MAC OS X Version 10.6 2.66 GHz , but i can't , i connected on my mac with a cable firewire 400 to 800 but it doesn't work + it works and takes power without the cable power but my mac don't recognize it (don't see it) .

What can i do about it !

    Can someone help me ?

    Thank you !

  • @costascostas25: Can you explain again exactly what is working and what isn't, because you describe it a little confusing.

Do you have a Macbook Pro or a Powerbook? And did you installed the drivers and Cue software from MOTU? Did you check the firewire cable? Does the MOTU work as stand-alone?

    Good Luck ;-)

  • i have a MAC PRO 10.6 2.66 GHz , i have installed all the drivers that motu card gives . It shows me on the screen that there is no motu card in .... i don't know whats the problem... my pc behind has firewire 800 pin and the motu is 400 pin i bought a cable 400 to 800.. sorry guys i'm new on this ..

  • @costascostas25: I think it's wisest to ask the MOTU helpdesk directly. It could be a software problem, but also a hardware problem. They can help you best at this point. Good luck!

  • awseme mix homie can u cehck out my mix and i also subscribed u can u pzl subscribe eme?

  • @DjBrianProductions: @DjBrianProductions: Thanks dude! I listened and subscribed ;-)

  • thanks alot homie

  • Thank you..

  • hi mate

how do you find the ultralite?

im thinking of purchasing one sick of crap usb interfaces

  • @thefproject: Hi mate, about the Ultralite:

For: Good sound, Easy to setup with Cuemix software, no power adapter needed, Excellent drivers, a lot of in/outputs, firewire.

Against: Small rotary buttons on front, FireWire 400-to-800 cable needed on PowerMac, slightly larger than I expected.

    summary: Highly recommended!

  • Hi mate, good effort I like the way your not over mixing the music. What effects have you chosen to map to your midi controller? I've just brought an Allen & Heath 4D running through Ableton Live and I'm experimenting before I decide a set template.

  • @threadz123: Hi mate, In the additional "Martijn Kuilema: DJ with Vestax VCM 600, Ableton Live 8 Part 2" video, on my Channel, I explain which effects I'm using and how I've set this up. Good luck!

    ps: Cool controller you bought.

  • really enjoyed the beat.

keep the vcm 600 videos coming, they are great.

    5*

pS: next time try to use more channels and less the beat repeat. a cool idea would be to create your own melody or samples and drop them on top of your mix

  • @fermixx : More mixes and tutorials will appear :-)

Thanks for your idea. I'm going to actually develop more creative, with samples and loops. This will probably be seen in the next mix. Thanks for thinking.

    Regards Martijn ;-)
