  • I like it!

  • How much does it cost

  • @TheCinemaScoop Kids are really affordable nowadays...

  • @TheCinemaScoop If you join the NAO developer program it costs about $4000.

  • Oh, I thought the Aldebaran logo was a inukshuk! (can't link to wikipedia but if you google)

  • @mspetitegeek Their logo is so many things. It's hard to determine

  • It seems one of the most natural ways of interacting with things is to roar and scream at them. @veltrop, you need to perfect that scream recognition ;)

  • Awesome behaviour! Kudo Taylor! Having the stiffness low is definitelly brilliant around kids.

  • @fcaneo2 Thank you :)

  • Aawwwww, poor Nao. I bet it's getting scared from those kids screaming at him at the end.

I've been watching a lot of Nao videos on youtube, and these robots are really impressive. I really want one, but I hear they won't be available to the public until late 2012. Besides I hear these things are as expensive as $15k USD now. They're mainly for research, education & development. But I still really want one. I love robots. :-/

  • @N64Mario Do a web search for "NAO Developer Program" You can get one for about $4k USD as an individual!

  • @taylorveltrop Yea, I know. But still.

    1. I think it still requires you to be part of the development of the robot of the sort.

    2. Not the same as a personal use robot.

So I would think in terms of being part of the developer program, I wouldn't necessarily be allowed to make it do things I want it to do in general. But instead accomplish things that have not yet been explored. Also, I'm not really familiar with things like C++ or SDK kits. It just be fun to work with a programmable robot.

  • @N64Mario You've misunderstood. As a member of the developer program I assure you that the point is for the developers to do what they want. They sell it as a personal use robot. Anyway, you'll never know if you don't apply ;)

  • @taylorveltrop I guess so. But don't you need to pass some sort of programming/development knowledge requirements first before they accept you into the developer program? Like I said, I don't have much knowledge of C++, not really familiar with how SDK's work exactly. I'd probably only know how to use their Nao Choregraphe software If I tried. Also, don't you have to be some sort of entrepreneur as well to be accepted into the developer program? Or do they just accept anyone now?

  • @N64Mario Like I said, you won't know if you don't try. Don't be such a defeatist!
