  • How come this feature is gone? I think it is a useful tool.

  • Google Search Wiki, really really awesome before, .

  • CHANGE THE HOMEPAGE BACK

WE DON'T WANT OUR SUBSCRIPTIONS ALL IN A HUGE TOWER, WE WANT THEM IN ONE BOX THAT YOU CAN SEE WITH A GLANCE

WE WANT TO SEE AT A GLANCE HOW MANY COMMENTS AND MESSAGES WE HAVE RECEIVED ON THE HOMEPAGE

COPY AND PASTE THIS, SPAM IT EVERY WHERE UNTIL YOUTUBE STOPS TAKING FUNCTIONALITY AWAY FROM IT'S USERS

SPAM THE YOUTUBE HELP FORUM AS WELL

  • Search WIki

  • Great vid!!! Thanks. I can share google/clickbank auto earn method ..

  • I don't know why, but recently I can't find the "delete the search result" button.

  • Sad that Searchwiki is gone :( How will I remove irrelevant advertising websites now :(

  • good

  • very very good--

  • hey can other people see the search result u put up

  • 0:40 This won't affect how google will receive the results, or how u see the results, when u're not logged into yer igoogle account.

So, the answer to your question is - NO!

If this feature will be able to change pageranking in Google, this will be a great bonus to SEO masters.

  • google officialy owns youtube now thats a bumer

  • great feature :-)

  • what's up wit yall out there, holla back. -fizzo

  • this guy is really cute

  • The best part is that, your bookmarks are stored only on your computer, but Google is in the web, so as your links =)

It's good if you you have at least 2 computers. One at home, the other at work...

And your boss would never know what sites do you prefer ;-)

Unless of course if you told him your secret "Search word" =D

  • Secret Word???

  • Also you can use it like a link storage!

Suppose you have a bunch of links in your bookmarks for photo sites and a bad memory, so you just can't remember which one of those is the best . You can just type in Google, smth like "123photos" and put all the favorite links, and comment them.

So now when you type "123myphotos" It will open them, it refers only to the word you typed at first, so if you type "123 my photos" it won't show you favorites...

    I think it's a good alternative for bookmarks =)

  • Oh so that's Secret word. :-)

    Thanks for the tip!

  • It would be great to make something similar for images)))

And would be awesome if you finish the "Similar images" which is still in Google Labs =)

At least its usefull for 3D designers and game developers for finding Textures =))

  • Nice =)

The comments are great, I always forget what some sites are about. Thanks Google =)

  • looks like a good source to use..

  • very informative and easy thank you

  • amazing~~~ good job!

  • Thank you

you added to Google a fantastic Features

  • tehmessy <<<<<<<<<< this person is very angry..hes been leaving commnents all over youtube...read his proflle..if ever theres a clue about a crazy person about to kill some people ..its on his profile...

  • Isn't the point of Googling something to find new information (i.e. websites you didn't previously know about) on any given topic? If you are already familiar with the site, why are you searching for it? And if you're going to organize your searches in such a fashion, wouldn't just bookmarking the URL be far easier?

  • Good point, but eventually your username could accumulate patterns that would allow your results for other things to be more relevant to you.

Otherwise you're right, it would serve no purpose at all.

  • Great job. I now understand. I was hoping the instructions would be simple. thanks

  • thanks google, now I can add a url to my search results. I don't know how I lived without these excellent features until now

  • This is PLAIN, not PLAN...

  • Vidshaw, your comment is STUPID!!!! Shift key only makes you look like a moron. Now go die somewhere else or stfu

  • Can this be a vulnerable for google? for example a site that automatically removes links that they want or anything else?... can removed sites be added back again?

  • spider853, did you actually watch the video?

"this won't affect how google users see their results, or how you'll see results if you aren't logged into your google account"

in other words, this just affects you, like a personal page ranking system, does not affect the real google page rank.

  • I know about that. I said that there can be some sites that can call in background this link of deleting sites from search that they want to. for example:

I am Microsoft, and I don't like Apple.

So every time somebody enter in to my site or sites that I have advertising in background I access the Google deleting page from the user browser to delete some results of Apple company. for examp. Apple released new Computer. I will delete all results of that page to make people buy my computers

  • So I'm not deleting from Google but from somebody's configuration.. Its like a virus.

Maybe Google has some techniques that prevent this. I can give an example of a method for doing something from other site:

On many sites, to change your password you just need to type your new pass. so pass form its vulnerable to XSS. so another site just create a invisible frame with same form and pass automatically submit a new password to the passchange page. [To be continued]

  • [2nd part] So your browser request this with your cookies of that site. Now your account has a password that is set by the site you have visited .

  • it's a virus that essentially just affects you though. You can't do it to *anyone* else unless *they* LOGIN with YOUR password. that's it. noone else.

  • Wait... even when GOOGLE uploads videos they sometimes go out of synch? Not good.

  • haha ima google biking trails in the bay area.lol

  • Google just gets more and more amazing

  • why would anyone hate Apple, did u mean microsoft instead.

  • its really working off the web 2.0 ideal in that the community is better then one individual program, I think its a great idea and if most people take part; it could remove the companies who just optimize towards search results.

  • If I know which site I am looking for, then what's the point of using Google Wiki?

  • so that what you are looking for is always at the top of the page where it should be.

  • yea but can other people see the results??

  • I think you want to make google search engine like wikipedia where every body can edit and save .

  • seems like a useless feature. lot of issues with privacy for other users being able to see your personalised search results. and they are using this information for what?? dont like.

  • I love the work Google do and I think they created some truly awesome stuff. But I think this feature is useless.

If changes you make are personal and you need to login to see them, and they only apply to the specific search, you can just as well bookmark pages (and Google has that feature), and it will be much more convenient to access them later.

This feature isn't meant to improve the search results in general, personally or globally. Only specifically.

I think it has no value for the users.

  • Dear Youtubers,

Actually the Search Wiki is dedicated only for users which "Google tips and messages" are in English language.

For testing SearchWiki, change your preferences (on main site).

  • "They want to know what you are searching for" - epic fail, they know that already. If anything they could possibly use it to later improve PageRank based on the amount of "up/down votes" URL's get.

I don't think it is that good a feature, good urls/notes tend to go into delicous, which does more and enables you to organise better etc..

I think it would be more powerful if the up/down votes were shared..

  • RUN!!! IT'S A TRAP!!!

    xD

  • Bwhaha

  • It's not a wiki; a better title would be "Search 2.0." Quite a cool feature.

  • Not a wiki, but definitely has potential and power. :)

  • nice

  • this is useful, if you have many bookmarks... besides, let's say you want to go to a website but there are many similar bookmarks on your bookmark folder or whatever... you type one word or something and all of them will appear there if you promoted them, along with your comments if you put any, making it easier to tell yourself what is the website you wanted to visit. =D It could also help others.

  • This is good. There are a lot of useless websites out there. Now, they need a feature to block an entire top level domain and I'll be happy (.info)

  • how can I disable searchwiki?

  • don't use it

  • You should know that wiki means you can edit, and EVERYONE can see it... Having this so no one sees if you "promote" a site, is almost like having bookmarks... At least give people the option to see promoted sites... or use promoted sites as results, because otherwise, it's just lame...

  • Is it possible to hide the buttons? stupid function, one I can't see becomming popular.

  • NEED TO TURN STUPID ICON OFF!!!!

  • what icon?

  • i don't see those buttons on my google..

  • i AM logged in. i've tried both the google accounts i have, and in internet explorer, maxthon, firefox, AND chrome, and the buttons just dont show up.

  • not that i'm that fussed about not being able to edit, but there's just something about how i'm not getting what i'm supposed to be getting that makes me wonder what's wrong.

  • @wikitree: are you blind, moron? didn't i say i AM logged in? read before you fart off stupid comments.

  • Гугл как всегда на высоте !!;)

  • sosglasen

  • This function is quite dumb.

If a search result is so important I'd imagine a bookmark or, that thing referred to as Memory (as in your brain), may be useful.

    Word.

  • Don't trust someone with a hairy neck

  • he has a hairy chest

  • This is cool!...What's with the corner of his lip?

  • useful or useless, where the fuck are these icons to click on?

    ok, forget about it.

  • Good question. Also had this "problem" but the solution is quite simple. You need to be logged in into your Google Account of course. You can't change search results that way without being logged in ;-)

But there are problems with FF3. I can't see the icons there even I am logged in. But it works with IE7 and Chrome :o)

  • @luizpaulorocha: Sometimes Reply link doesn't work ...

  • Link?.. Url?..

  • where is the link to make this feature work?

  • I beleive it is a new feature that you'll see on the results of any Google search. You need an account with Google (typically an email account) and to be "signed in". Do you ever use iGoogle? It's like MyMSN or MyYahoo.

  • I don't see myself using this. I like seeing what results come up for everyone, even if I don't like such results.

It's like the opposite of Web 2.0 and Wikis: instead of sharing and cooperating, you try to make your own personal version of Google only for yourself. Pass.

  • I see it as a bridge between the two. I can get what I want the way I like it. Plus I can see what others like. Since this appears to be a new feature, I'll reserve my final judgement for later (after I've played with it for awhile, but I like what I see so far).

  • I like this option (Google search combined with social bookmarking).

But I dont like the name.

  • Stare at the eyebrows and laugh

  • Gentle voice, but not in the end, it was too loud, my ears.

  • It's stolen from Wikia.

  • I think this will make google search results page very messy. I like the google's clean search page. I don't want much graphics on it

  • איזה מכוערררר

  • In what way are they destroying the earth? By providing a decent search engine?

  • True

  • if u don't like it don't use it? ever thought of that?

  • They can't think of anything.

  • Please make a way to Disable this and get the Old Page visited thing. I do like this how i can remove it but i don't like how big and ugly the green buttons are. and i dont like notes. cuz they don't remove

  • Omg chest hair. Nice feature BTW. And interesting how I'm seeing more and more of your top employees coming from India or similar countries.

  • omg HOW DO I TURN THIS THING OFF!!!???

    please add an off button!!!

  • Why would one add spam sites to their own search results?

It only applies to your account.

  • How do I turn it off? I am a paying google apps customer and I don't want it. stop screwing with your users and give me a way to turn it off

  • i also need to know how to turn this off. i use mcafee site advisor, and this shit gets in the way. please help.

  • Very cool, the internet is finally becoming what it should be, user customizable, just like my jailbroken iPhone, wahahaha

  • Very nice job Google. :)

  • that's a very interesting feature!

  • This is one of the reasons i prefer Google over Microsoft or yahoo

  • my washing machine has 140 programmes - I use 10 of them. This feature is like the other 130 programmes to me

  • At last! Great feature, always dreamed of it!

  • uhmmm well that is an unnecessary feature... haven't peopled heard of bookmarking urls that you found? A lot more efficient than having to google it again. besides why would anyone read their own comment on their own search? because the comment won't be visible for others

  • If you have many bookmarks, and want them to be visible when you search for a common term...

You may want to comment the results to remind yourself of notes about a site. I just hope users don't start using this for passwords!

  • true, as your notes are visible to other users.

  • Google kicks arse once again.

  • lol cool

  • Zni to zajimave, dlouhodobe pouzivani takoveto funkce by opravdu mohlo vest k personalizovanemu vyhledavani. Zajimave. Zajimave.

  • Looks cool. Please closed caption these since that feature is now available on YouTube. Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing people love Google too.

  • will this slow down Google's search?

  • when is the feature available?

  • i dont get it, why shud i customize my own search results. i am the one looking.

  • in case there's a search you're doing often. if the URL is too hard to remember, you often find yourself just googling it with a keyword and find it that way.. however, if you're logged onto your google account you're probably using your own computer and could just use bookmarks.... I think it is a nice feature anyway

  • 2 /2

Google is doing good work and innovate often. But I think it would be best not to touch the search Google. And leave it unchanged. The simplicity of research that makes this force against those competitors. Too load services hurt I think its good reputation.

  • SearchWiki certainly will be a revolution in the field of research on the Internet.

But such an action would he not distort

research or judgments of people ?

It might at the same time often see the same site or blog leads the way.

    For now, I'm skeptical.

  • I'm not seeing a link to turning searchwiki on for an account.

  • wow that's really cool, the only thing is it's not available

  • Interesting feature. Although it's shown for affecting personal search results, I wonder if Google will harvest the cumulative data it can make available. For example, if enough people remove an item or comment with something like "Link farm, kill it! KILL IT WITH FIRE!" (Ok, I just click remove from the list. But that's how I feel about them.) Will those actually help to push such bad taste sites down in the general search index? And if that data is used, could it be manipulated the other way?

  • How it's possible to contact that guy from Google who does Biketrials?

  • I do biketrials to :)

  • who can tell me "when" i can use it?

  • I couldn't tell what this video was about because of the distraction by this guys chest hair.

  • looks like google just continues to collect data from its users

  • damn that guy has a hairy ass chest

  • what's an ass chest?

  • Damn, its cool, but I'll hardly ever use it.

  • Today marks the first day, that google has created a completely, and utterly, useless feature. Its called "bookmarks". Honestly, every browser has them. Why would I hit the same search again when I can just bookmark my favorite pages. Google is to find NEW things, not the same things over and over.

  • Great Job Google!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gracias google!

  • I'm impressed!

Truly this is taking my fav search engine and adding in another dimension to it.

Not to mention how well this is going to help Google gather info to make search data more user oriented...and giving SEOs less power to boot!

    I like.

    ACE! :)

    Thanks Google.

  • thats why you're no. one!

  • thats pretty brilliant

  • hmmmmm not bad, havta try it out

  • Beast!!!

  • thats bs. who would ever use it, get real. plain google is awesome though.

  • good job!!!

  • You guys never cease to amaze me!

  • Well done Google!

  • Actually a pretty good feature.

  • I won't guess how successful this feature will ultimately be, but it is very exciting to see Web x.0 evolving before our eyes.

  • yay

  • Awesome

  • :-)

  • i wanted to have the first comment =P
