Suppose you have a bunch of links in your bookmarks for photo sites and a bad memory, so you just can't remember which one of those is the best . You can just type in Google, smth like "123photos" and put all the favorite links, and comment them.
So now when you type "123myphotos" It will open them, it refers only to the word you typed at first, so if you type "123 my photos" it won't show you favorites...
tehmessy <<<<<<<<<< this person is very angry..hes been leaving commnents all over youtube...read his proflle..if ever theres a clue about a crazy person about to kill some people ..its on his profile...
Isn't the point of Googling something to find new information (i.e. websites you didn't previously know about) on any given topic? If you are already familiar with the site, why are you searching for it? And if you're going to organize your searches in such a fashion, wouldn't just bookmarking the URL be far easier?
Quel idée de merde ! Ce n'est vraiment pas une bonne idée de la part de google. Les liens sont sensé être classés par popularité et correspondance du contenu !
I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. Its nice.
Can this be a vulnerable for google? for example a site that automatically removes links that they want or anything else?... can removed sites be added back again?
I know about that. I said that there can be some sites that can call in background this link of deleting sites from search that they want to. for example:
I am Microsoft, and I don't like Apple.
So every time somebody enter in to my site or sites that I have advertising in background I access the Google deleting page from the user browser to delete some results of Apple company. for examp. Apple released new Computer. I will delete all results of that page to make people buy my computers
So I'm not deleting from Google but from somebody's configuration.. Its like a virus.
Maybe Google has some techniques that prevent this. I can give an example of a method for doing something from other site:
On many sites, to change your password you just need to type your new pass. so pass form its vulnerable to XSS. so another site just create a invisible frame with same form and pass automatically submit a new password to the passchange page. [To be continued]
it's a virus that essentially just affects you though. You can't do it to *anyone* else unless *they* LOGIN with YOUR password. that's it. noone else.
Some of you are freaking morons. SearchWiki is a killer feature. If you hate Apple computer you can change your results so that a google search of "Apple" brings up your favorite local fruit stand on the web. I've personally used it to delete irritating websites that have annoying advertisements. It's search results tailored for what "I" like and that makes it a game changer that's available on any computer. Stop being dumbasses and use your brain.
its really working off the web 2.0 ideal in that the community is better then one individual program, I think its a great idea and if most people take part; it could remove the companies who just optimize towards search results.
seems like a useless feature. lot of issues with privacy for other users being able to see your personalised search results. and they are using this information for what?? dont like.
I love the work Google do and I think they created some truly awesome stuff. But I think this feature is useless.
If changes you make are personal and you need to login to see them, and they only apply to the specific search, you can just as well bookmark pages (and Google has that feature), and it will be much more convenient to access them later.
This feature isn't meant to improve the search results in general, personally or globally. Only specifically.
"They want to know what you are searching for" - epic fail, they know that already. If anything they could possibly use it to later improve PageRank based on the amount of "up/down votes" URL's get.
I don't think it is that good a feature, good urls/notes tend to go into delicous, which does more and enables you to organise better etc..
I think it would be more powerful if the up/down votes were shared..
this is useful, if you have many bookmarks... besides, let's say you want to go to a website but there are many similar bookmarks on your bookmark folder or whatever... you type one word or something and all of them will appear there if you promoted them, along with your comments if you put any, making it easier to tell yourself what is the website you wanted to visit. =D It could also help others.
You should know that wiki means you can edit, and EVERYONE can see it... Having this so no one sees if you "promote" a site, is almost like having bookmarks... At least give people the option to see promoted sites... or use promoted sites as results, because otherwise, it's just lame...
i AM logged in. i've tried both the google accounts i have, and in internet explorer, maxthon, firefox, AND chrome, and the buttons just dont show up.
not that i'm that fussed about not being able to edit, but there's just something about how i'm not getting what i'm supposed to be getting that makes me wonder what's wrong.
Good question. Also had this "problem" but the solution is quite simple. You need to be logged in into your Google Account of course. You can't change search results that way without being logged in ;-)
But there are problems with FF3. I can't see the icons there even I am logged in. But it works with IE7 and Chrome :o)
I beleive it is a new feature that you'll see on the results of any Google search. You need an account with Google (typically an email account) and to be "signed in". Do you ever use iGoogle? It's like MyMSN or MyYahoo.
I don't see myself using this. I like seeing what results come up for everyone, even if I don't like such results.
It's like the opposite of Web 2.0 and Wikis: instead of sharing and cooperating, you try to make your own personal version of Google only for yourself. Pass.
I see it as a bridge between the two. I can get what I want the way I like it. Plus I can see what others like. Since this appears to be a new feature, I'll reserve my final judgement for later (after I've played with it for awhile, but I like what I see so far).

Interesting feature. Although it's shown for affecting personal search results, I wonder if Google will harvest the cumulative data it can make available. For example, if enough people remove an item or comment with something like "Link farm, kill it! KILL IT WITH FIRE!" (Ok, I just click remove from the list. But that's how I feel about them.) Will those actually help to push such bad taste sites down in the general search index? And if that data is used, could it be manipulated the other way?
Today marks the first day, that google has created a completely, and utterly, useless feature. Its called "bookmarks". Honestly, every browser has them. Why would I hit the same search again when I can just bookmark my favorite pages. Google is to find NEW things, not the same things over and over.
How come this feature is gone? I think it is a useful tool.

The best part is that, your bookmarks are stored only on your computer, but Google is in the web, so as your links =)
It's good if you you have at least 2 computers. One at home, the other at work...
And your boss would never know what sites do you prefer ;-)
Unless of course if you told him your secret "Search word" =D

For example, if enough people remove an item or comment with something like "Link farm, kill it! KILL IT WITH FIRE!" (Ok, I just click remove from the list. But that's how I feel about them.) Will those actually help to push such bad taste sites down in the general search index? And if that data is used, could it be manipulated the other way?

Today marks the first day, that google has created a completely, and utterly, useless feature. Its called "bookmarks". Honestly, every browser has them. Why would I hit the same search again when I can just bookmark my favorite pages. Google is to find NEW things, not the same things over and over.

I'm impressed!
Truly this is taking my fav search engine and adding in another dimension to it.
Not to mention how well this is going to help Google gather info to make search data more user oriented...and giving SEOs less power to boot!
I like.
ACE! :)
Thanks Google.

I won't guess how successful this feature will ultimately be, but it is very exciting to see Web x.0 evolving before our eyes.
